  1. Just had my pool replastered and the guys did a bad job locating the spotters on the steps and bench. Pool is filling up now. Contractor says I’m Out of Luck - Can anyone offer an opinion if there’s anything other than stripping it all off and replastering all over again? Can the steps and bench be re-done to properly place the spotters? I’m thinking downside is now I have a seam, plaster color matching, like any patch job. looks like a kindergartener placed them
  2. My 10-year-old inground gunite pool needs some tile repair and I'm hoping someone can give me advice. There is one section of about 8 small tiles that all popped off and I saved them all, so those need to be repaired/re-attached. No more have come off in probably 3 years and I don't know why they came off in the first place. Can I do that myself or hire a professional? The rest of the tiles around the perimeter seem to get mold or algae in them. I started using a solar blanket and maybe that is causing the mold issue, I'm not sure. I scrub the grout with a wire brush to loosen/clean the grout and there is enough chlorine in the pool but it seems to come back fast, especially near the skimmer basket. I noticed the grout between the tiles is not flush with the tiles - is re-grouting tiles at the pool perimeter something that is normal upkeep? Or am I doing something wrong? Is there a better way to clean the grout other than wire brush? Should I be using a chemical also? Or will re-grouting help the issue of the algae/mold forming between the tiles?
  3. I have a pool that has a salt chlorination system and I am replacing the tile at the waterline. I am wondering what I need to look for when picking a new tile. Can it be any material? Ceramic, porcelain, glass, natural stone (travertine, marble, etc) or is it better to avoid natural stone? I was thinking about this one which is glass and metal. Is the metal OK? http://www.flooranddecor.com/aruba-mosaic-glass---metal-tile-8mm-1in-x-1in.html
  4. Any tips on replacing the decorative tile on a 1999 Sovereign? Existing tile is a plastic mosaic held together by silicone and sits in a recess around perimeter. I don't think OEM replacements exist. I wonder if glass tile of the appropriate size would work? I know it needs to be bedded and grouted with silicone. Seems like a messy project to me. Appreciate any help. Thanks.
  5. Hello Everyone, I am new to this site and thank all of you in advance for any inforamation you can give me. We are beginning our pool remodel project and need some advice on some pool equipment. OUr pool is about 25 years old or so. Our pool builder is scheduled and we are ready to to go! We hope this will be a positive and fun experience. We will be replacing all of our pool equipment and would like some recommendations on specs. Here is our info: approx 24,000 gallon pool will upgrade to 2 in pipe Equipment to Skimmer about 80 Ft Solar heating 30 ft with a 15 ft Rise We are thinking about a Pentair DE Quad Filter 60, but unsure about a pump that could hand our specs. is 1 HP too little or 3 Hp too much? Also, would it be wise to get a controller to automate the Solar heating valves. What kind of system would it need? Thank you!
