  1. I have a question about using Epsom salt along with normal pool salt (sodium chloride) in my hot tub with a chlorine generator cell. My basic understanding is that the chlorine generator cell, AKA salt cell, works with sodium chloride in the water to activate the chloride ion so that it acts like sodium hypochlorite had been added. We understand limitations to adding Epsom salt to some 3000 PPM because of corrosion concerns. If we add the Epsom salt to the salt water in the hot tub, will the chlorine generator cell still work to create chlorine? What about the sulfate ion from Epsom salt? Please feel free to correct any of the information that I have stated in my understanding. Please help me out with what seems to be a complex chemistry question.
  2. I have a Jandy Aqua pure Salt cell system. in ground pool that is piped for the Polaris. I am have some issues. first my control panel is giving me the error codes 125/194 flow is on and it also has the service light on. I cleaned the cell with an acid wash. my pool is a light green and cloudy I have cleaned the senor as well. what is the damn things issue?!?!?! Second every time I plug the cleaner into the pool and turn the valve to cleaner it ejects it out no matter how tight I try to make it. third where can I take my Polaris to have it serviced as it only goes when it feels like it and it is becoming a big issue. this damn pool is giving me as many issues as the ex that put it in before he left!!!!!!! I don't have the money to keep replacing everything and the last time I had a service guy come out to look at it he took my pump and never returned along with no solutions. But that's another story!!!! OMG my boys and i just wanna swim!!!! Please advise
  3. Ever since we opened our pool we have been trying to get the water clear and everything working properly. This is our 1st year opening it since it was new last year. It is an above ground pool with a jandy salt system chlorine generator. ( I think that is what it is called). The jandy reads " no flow". This is the only reading since we have plugged it in. I have cleaned the cell which then looked better but didn't change reading. Our filter flow would deteriorate after a couple days. We lubed the lid to the motor pot. Our pool person suggested we were probably losing prime. Sounds good but reading still says " no flow". Been shocking the pool and added a lot of salt and a couple things here and there to try and clear up the pool. My last guess for the Jandy is the flow switch part. Does that sound right ? I don't mind replacing it but I'm hoping thats the issue then. When we took it apart to bring in for the winter the back plastic top seems to be snapped a little. Doesn't really look like it would have any effect on anything since the paddle still moves inside and all looks like its in tact where it matters. Any ideas or tips I'd appreciate. We are frustrated and not really fond of the help from the pool place.
  4. I had this unit installed in 2007. Since then the cell had to be replaced twice; now it seems like it is failing again. I have been in touch with people in Autralia since 2009. First I was told that the salt level should be 5000, not 3000 (as the unser manual shows). Then I was told that for the size of my pool (20,000 gal), they should have installed two units in parallel. Then I was told that the water in Arizona is very hard and the cell needs cleaning every 4 to 6 weeks (which I have done). Last time the cell was replaced (in 2010), I was told that they would not change it anymore. I am looking for any any help anyone can give. I don't know why the cell keeps failing, I have maintained the pool per all instructions and have water tested periodically. I recently added more bags of salt. If I need to replace the cell, would like to know if anyone can recommend a 2nd party vendor.
