  1. I have an sundance optima 880. 2 years ago we had a lightning strike a hundred yards or so from the hot tub. The next night we went to use it and it had gotten tripped so the heater and pump 2 were running full blast and the temp was over 120. I shut the tub down until it was down well below where we usually have it set. It came back up to operating temp and was fine for about a year until it happened again. I did the same thing as before and it reset. Fast forward to last week and it happened yet again and when i flipped the breaker for a couple days and the heat came back down and stays at 101 (where we usually have it) but jet pump number 2 will not shut off now matter how many times i try to reset it. Other than this issue it works flawlessly. Any help in which direction I should go would be greatly appreciated.
  2. This is my first time here. We own a Caldera Tahitian hot tub, purchased in 2011. We have replaced each jet pump once, and have had wonderful use of our tub. Now, the larger pump with 2 speeds (Pump 2), is turning on mysteriously. It goes on when we use the clean cycle and when we use Jet 1, but only on low. When we try to change the speed to high, it either does nothing or shuts off. You can hear the motor attempt to change gears (it gets louder for less than a second) before it shuts down. Then, in a few minutes, it turns back on to low by itself. One time it tripped the circuit breaker. We've cleaned the filter and added water, but it didn't help. We have been using the hot tub without the benefit of the high pump on Jet 2. Pump 2 was replaced in March of 2013 while still under warranty (for a different reason). Can anyone help us troubleshoot this problem without calling for service or replacing the pump?
  3. Replacing the Jet Pump motor on my 2004 Caldera Spa, and cannot get the pump section off of the motor. There doesn't seem to be any bolts/screw/nuts I can loosen to remove it.
  4. Hi all, My attempts to bring a 2001 Hot Spring Vanguard back to life continue! The Wavemaster 9000 (ver. 2) Jet Pump has a leak. As you can see in this animated .gif or in the full linked video (click here) it looks like it comes out from both around the shaft and through the volute cover. My question is if anyone has an opinion about whether I should first try to replace the shaft seal and volute o-ring, or whether I should just go for the complete wet end replacement. Obviously the first is much cheaper, but if it's clear from either the quantity of water or the location of the leak that it requires a whole new wet end I'd rather do it right the first time. Thank you!
  5. Hi all, I recently took a chance on paying to move a free 2001 Hot Springs Vanguard. The owners said the “pump and heater” were replaced in the “last few years.” They also said there was a small leak from a “pump or hose.” I figured as long as it’s drained I might as well do a few replacements/repairs that are likely culprits for the leak. Reading around it seemed like the pump is a likely source, so I though I’d just look to see which pump --- circulation or jet --- was recently replaced, and then go ahead and replace the other one (figuring it was probably due after 14 years.) But, looking inside, neither pump seems particularly new, and both pumps match the specs on the original spa: a Wavemaster 9000 jet pump and a Silentflo 5000 circ pump. I do think the heater was replaced but more like 7 years ago than “a few.” So this raises some questions: - any thoughts on either pump as a more likely source of a leak? I read that a new pump seal is a good, cheap first fix for a potential leak but I’m not sure which pump or how to find the correct seal for these older pumps. - any advice on a general strategy for repairs or tune ups to do *before* I get this thing wired up and filled up? Or do I need to just get it running and then try to diagnose any issues? - any other obvious red flags you can see in the pics below (hopefully clickable thumbnails)? Many thanks in advance for your thoughts!
  6. Hello, I have a 2001 Tiger River with the IQ2020 Electronics. Everything was working fine but now the jet pump will not turn on when the button is pushed. When i push the button the heater relay deactivates shutting the heater off and you can hear the pump relay activate. The voltage at the terminals that feed the motor are only reading about 68mv but if i disconnect the motor wires and push the jet pump button on the control panel the terminals read 119v!! add the motor wires and the motor jumps for a split second and the voltage at the terminals drop to 68mv again. If i feed the motor direct with 120v the pump and motor run fine. Is the mother board the issue? or is there something else i should be looking at. the board has no obvious signs of problems, no burnt terminals etc. thanks for the help
