  1. Hey Guys, I have a 15 amp 240V Waterco Portapac Heat Pump (air button model). It will work for about 60 seconds and then trips out. I have to push the reset power button and the "power" light comes on again. Turn on the jets and it will run for up to a minute and then cuts out. It doesn't trip the main power on house, just the pump itself. Any ideas? Cheers
  2. I have a Aqua cal heat pump (Super Quiet model # 110AHDEBTJ) When I start it it turns on but as time goes by it seems like the fan slows down and after 20 minutes or so it stops.
  3. Hi, I own a Oasis brand heat pump, and I need some advice on a part that just broke. I believe it broke due to an ice build-up during this winter. I need to know if the part can be replaced, and how. I put pictures of the damage that will give you a very clear idea of the part to change. Could you please let me know what is the best course to take? Thanks Eric
  4. I managed to snag a used Zodiac Heat Pump this weekend. In looking to install it, we discovered some very specific municipal laws and in such, my heat pump needs to be 10feet from the pool. As such, I was thinking I could perhaps bury the in and out pipes for the pump, just because this is a high traffic area. I was thinking of just digging a trench an filling it with crush stone. I wouldn't bother putting soil over top as in fall i'd likely dig them back up for the winter. The pipes would likely be a few inches underground for about 5-6feet. I'm just wondering if this is a good idea and whether i'm looking at potential major heat loss or even damaged hoses? Thx in advance..
  5. We just had an inground vinyl liner pool installed this summer. We are interested in getting a heat pump installed. All of my current pool equipment is Hayward so I am assuming we will go with that but wanted to see if there were any recommendations for other brands based on your experience. thank you!! Pool size: 16x32 (depth- 3 ft to 7 ft)
  6. Would like to buy a used heat pump for a small in-ground pool. Only 8000 gallons. I just don't want to pay the $2500 that I am seeing for a new one. Cost doesn't justify the means. Any ideas? I saw a few on craigslist a few months ago, but now they are gone. We live in Newport News, Va.
  7. I am trying to determine the best heating option for a 18' x 33' x 52" ABG. The pool is located in PA and the weather is very seasonal. I have read that heat pumps are not recommended if the temperature drops below 45 deg. Farenheit, but the pool will be closed late September - early October, depending on the weather. All of the heaters I have looked at are either natural gas or propane. I would like to not use either if possible. Would a heat pump be okay to use in this situation and what are some recommended manufacturers. Aside from how each device heats the pool,. are there any other major differences or are they pretty similar? Thank you in advance for any advice on this topic.
  8. I purchased their heat pump back in the fall of 2011. I live up in NY and 2012 was the first season of use. No problems at all. Two weeks ago my heater lost all of its Freon. Their repair tech came out to my house and a hole was created by two copper pipes rubbing against each other due to the vibration of the unit. It cost me $825 later to fix and I have made repeated calls to the manufacturer for some goodwill assistance. Although it is out of the 1 year full parts and labor warranty, I believe that this problem was caused in year one. I have sent repeated emails and made a call to the President and still no response. This company brags about quality and customer service and I get no satisfaction. What recourse do I have?
  9. New to this forum and getting ready to build a 20x40 igp. I would like to know which chlorine generator, heat pump, pool pump, control system, and light system they prefer. Here is what I am considering. A 30" hayward 2 inch pipe 1.5 hp 2 speed pump, a aqua pro 1300 heat pump (125 btu) , color logic led light, aqua-rite & 40k salt cell. I found this kit at Royalswimmingpools.com. I am also looking into a robotic cleaner. I live in southern Missouri and it will have unobstructed sunshine most of the day. Any input is appreciated. I plan to hire a contractor to do the install, as I do not have the time, talent, or tools for the job. Thanks again. I will keep everyone posted with pictures and progress.
  10. Hi, we just bought a 13 x 25 semi-inground wood pool equiped with a heat pump and a salt chlorine generator. In reading through the Salt system guide, they indicate that the system runs whenver the pump runs, and they recommend this to be anywhere from 6 to 8 hours a day. The heatpump however typically provides its best effenciency if it works all the time, and has its own thermostat to properly control the water temperature. How should a system like this be properly plumbed and configured? Thanks.
