  1. Hello my name is Marcello, I got gifted a Sundance Marin Spa 850, I'm not sure what year it is but I believe it is around 2004 or so. I put it into place and hooked it up to a spa disconnect and all that good stuff. I replaced the discharge valve because it wasn't leaking just yesterday and was able to fill it up finally! After filling, I was able to turn it on. All the Jets and bubbles worked great, but I got a COLD (due to the cold water) FLO error on the display. I decided to run the Jets and set the filter to run for a little while to clear up any gunk and buildup in the pipes. (Prior to this, the hot tub hadnt been turned on for over a year). I walked away. When I returned 20 minutes or so later, the hot tub showed four dashes (watchdog error). I turned it off over night and tried again this morning to receive the same error. It turns on, flashes for a split second FLO2 and goes into watchdog mode. I've researched a bit and it looks like this error can mean a multitude of things. In this specific instance, I was able to turn it on and run everything for about 30 minutes until it went to that watchdog error and now it just goes straight to that error. Any ideas on what it could mean? A thousand thank yous in advance!
  2. My Jacuzzi J-365 is going into Watchdog error mode (3 dashes) intermittently. When I reset the power it runs fine for about 5 days, then goes to Watchdog again. I have tested the temperature and limit switches with an ohm meter and they are both reporting the same correct readings based on the temp / ohm chart I found on-line. I also checked the flow switch which is showing zero conductance when open and full conductance when closed (also visually confirmed open and closing at appropriate times). I have never found the spa to have overheated - always within a degree or two of my 103 degree setting. The circuit board "looks" fine - no bulging capacitors or any obvious burn spots. I don't want to replace the expensive board if not necessary but I don't know what other troubleshooting to do.
  3. We received this spa upon purchase of our house. It is a 2005 Sundance 880 series Majesta. We have had constant problems from day one. It has always overheated to mid 100's - 110's, no matter what the thermostat is set at (even the lowest setting of 80), and would also constantly trip the circuit breaker, and routinely go into watchdog. Over the winter it got so hot the heating element melted through the casing and it leaked. I patched the hole with water weld so the tub could hold water, but the heating element has not heated since. The temperature correctly reads in the 70's, but just does not heat and constantly runs. I was told I would need a new heater, and should also replace the high limit and temperature sensors. I purchased these and replaced them, and am confident it was done correctly. Now, upon startup, it reads that the temperature is 106 when it is really about 76, and gives the OH and Sn3 error code, indicating the temperature sensor is bad. I've switched back and forth between my new and old temperature and high limit sensors and the same problem persists since placing the new heater. The heater will start heating on startup (I can feel it get hot briefly) but then instantly will stop once the error codes kick in. Any suggestions, is it possible the new temp sensor I received is bad too, or may there be an issue with the circuit board? Any help appreciated, thank you. Chris
  4. I have a 2007 Maxxus hot tub and it randomly goes into watchdog mode. The incoming power is fine (I'm an electrician). I ohm'd the heater sensor and temp sensor. Temp sensor was ~20K which was close to water temp, the heater sensor was ~14K which is off my temp/resistance reference chart so I replaced it. Tub fired up, ran for a while then I heard the contactor click a few times and then it was back into watchdog mode. I've checked everything I can inside the control panel as far as connections/fuses/etc. The two main capacitors are not bulged and the flow switch was replaced earlier in the year. The capacitors are 3300mf and rated for 35 volts. Anything else I can check? UPDATE: Now when I turn the power on I get differing amount of characters/lines on the display. Before I would get either the ---- or the tub would work for a little while then go into watchdog mode. UPDATE#2: Now when I turn it on the entire LCD display lights up and has a very fast flicker.
  5. Hello - We have a Sundance 850 series 'Marin' hot tub that had a few issues in the past (see post: http://www.poolspaforum.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=26961&st=0) We resolved our previous problem by replacing the circuit board and all of the filters. After we did this in the spring last year, the hot tub worked for about 4-5 months but then just quit working. It gives us the awful "Watchdog" (----) error again. We did some tests and think the circuit board is bad again. So, recently we actually paid a Sundance hot tub tech to come out to diagnose the problem, as we did not want to keep replacing the expensive circuit board every 4-5 months just to get it to work. We figured there must be some underlying issue corrupting the boards. The tech determined that he wasn't really sure what the problem was but thought that we could start by replacing the circuit board and topside and then maybe the remote topside too if that didn't work. I gave him the old board we took out a few years ago (yes, I kept it!) in case that helped him diagnose and he said they both have the same issue. FYI - He did say that he thought one little spot in the topside might be getting a little warm. Also, when he was there, the hot tub was able to start ONCE, but then he couldn't get it to start again. I really don't want to pay to replace of those pieces as a trial and error type "solution" to the problem. He said the temp sensor is good. He looked at the capacitors on both boards, we kept the old circuit board too, and said they were not swollen and look fine. The tech was also unable to read the history/memory to get any other clues as to what could be the problem. So much for hiring someone to tell us what was wrong...ughh! (FYI - Also, in our previous problem - see link above-, we also had the breaker tripping and the tech that just came out said that was due to the ozenator so he just disconnected it since it's an option feature anyway and not required to make the spa work.) Before we buy a new circuit board or any other parts, do you have any idea if just replacing the circuit board will make it work? If it is going to cost A LOT to repair (we plan on doing the work ourselves) in parts, then we may just get rid of the tub completely. I've also seen some refurbished circuit boards online. Has anyone used a refurb board and do they work ok? I noticed some come with the Eprom and some don't. (I was told you can install your current Eprom into the refurb board fairly painlessly.) Any experience with this? THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for any help, advice, experience, suggestions you can offer! Hot Tub: Sundance Marin 850 Series (year 2005) Circuit Board Part #: 6600-092 Eprom: Rev 9.50B
  6. I have a problem with my spa in that neither pump will start...circulation pump and heater are working fine, as is the air pump. When I try to start either water pump all I get is a click and the spa relay switches off and resets. The same happens when I try to turn on the LED lights. Water temp is ok and no error messages are showing. The only difference on the LCD panel to normal is that the panel constantly shows "am" and "pm". This issue resolves when you go to the time or filter time function and comes back when the panel returns to normal output. I tried hardwiring pumps 1 and 2 to see if they run independently of the spa, and both ran fine! Update: After taking advice from Sundance (and others) I ordered a replacement circuit board...installed it yesterday and now the spa is in "watchdog" mode! I put the old board back in and the spa operated as above. I checked the fuses on the new board and found that Fuse 1 was blown so I swapped it out and still got watchdog mode. I put the old board back in after that and now that board too is showing "watchdog" mode. What would casue Fuse 1 to blow? I tested the temp and hi limit sensors at 28C: Temp = 27.7, High Limit = 48.1 with a digital meter. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated, I am in New Zealand a long way from a Sundance dealer! Regards, Steve
