  1. Have a 2015 Hotsprings Vanguard Hot tub. Decided to drain and clean this morning. Turned the two breakers off (20w and 30w) then drained the tub, cleaned it and refilled. When I flipped the breakers back on I had no power to the tub whatsoever. Not a single sound, light, nothing. Did it over and the same result. Tested the incoming power wires and all had power at the circuit board so its not the breakers. I tested every wire I could find on the board that I thought had power and all showed they were getting power. Still not one LED light or anything anywhere, no sounds, ozonator dead. Control Panel on the deck dead. There is a small glass fuse on the lower right of the board, checked that and it was fine. Also replaced the battery on the board just in case. All was working fine until I flipped the breakers off to start the clean. Anyone have this happen? Any ideas? Am I missing something obvious here?
  2. Hi all. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction before I take this spa to the tip. I have a Hot Springs Vanguard spa (Australian/NZ) model. Not sure of the year it is as the model number doesn't seem to match anything. V29996? I purchased it second hand 2 years ago and it has always worked until now. It now has a flashing green light and the spa is not heating properly. What I have tried so far. Removed the main filter, Replaced the Hi limit thermister and control thermister I have checked the flow and there are plenty of O2 bubbles and water flow coming into the spa Also to note the external control panel (the one you access from in the spa) has never worked and the MOTO-MASSAGE jets have never worked I am not sure what I should be looking at next to replace. Has anyone has this issue before and fixed it?
  3. Reddit sent me here searching for a user castletonia to help me with my hot tub. It came with the house I bought and the top control screen doesn’t work, from my research it seems that the part is discontinued and I need a new control screen and computer board for it to work, but I’m not sure I have the correct parts. Can anyone confirm these will work on my hot tub? I’m attaching pictures. Thank you!
  4. Just wanted to share my experience since I could not find another one out there like it. My 2009 Hot Springs Vanguard spa developed a slow leak after a recent move. The leak was observed as a drip from the corner of my spa. After a lot of googling I decided to remove my panels and dig through the foam in the corner to see if I could find the source of the leak. The foam was soaking wet. I started at the bottom and worked my up toward the moto massage housing. I thought for sure it was going to be a leaky manifold at the base of the moto massage housing but to my surprise the water was coming down from above it. I dug out the foam so that I could get on top of the moto massage housing and found the culprit. It was an LED fixture. Hot Springs basically bored a hole in the housing, placed a plastic nut on the outside of the housing that was held in place by some epoxy. From the inside of the spa within the moto massage housing, they insert a threaded bolt which doubles as a LED light chamber and screw it through the hole in the housing and into the nut that was previously described. The bolt also makes use of an o-ring to prevent leaking. The problem, o-rings eventually fail and yes, surprise surprise, I'm sure my chemical balance has at times not been perfect over the past 11+ years. While I'm sure I can get o-rings from somewhere that would work, I chose to just order the led kit that is used with the pillows as the units appear identical to what they used in the moto jet housing. I have 6 other led devices like this in my tub and I'm sure they will all eventually fail. The good news is that you may not have to dig through your foam. You may be able to repair from inside your tub. I'm thinking you simply need to unscrew the plastic led from inside the tub, replace the o-ring and screw it back in. The only concern I have is the LED. When you pull out the threaded plastic bolt you may cause the LED light to fall out and may be unable to get it back it since you want have access to the area. You may be able to partially unscrew it (i.e. a couple turns), and then slip the o-ring over the top and then screw it back in. I'm going to try this on my next one and will provide an update. Worse case, you lose the LED light in your moto massage area! Better than a leak, and better than digging through all your foam!! Another tip, lower your water level below the led so that you don't introduce a bunch of water unnecessarily to your foam. I also posted a video on Youtube that shows a little more:
  5. Hi, I have a 2001 Hot Springs Vanguard. Over the last couple of years I have managed to find and fix a couple of leaks. Now it has another very big/fast leak. I initially guessed that it was likely the infamous bleed nipple. But the leak appears to stop with a fair amount of water still in the moto massage "buckets." The leak appears to stop with the water below the lowest hydromassage jet on the right side. (See video link below.) I know this doesn't necessarily mean anything, but the water also appears to come out from under the hot tub most heavily under that spot. But I dug out the foam to the back of that fitting and it doesn't seem to be leaking there. Although that area is such a tangle of pipes it's hard to get the fitting fully exposed. The foam is very hard around there. (See image) Any ideas for common culprits? Thank you! Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxjZi0kkFlE
  6. I have a 2006 Watkins’s vanguard vv2h2936. I just got it hooked up and can only get jet 1 to come on. If I plug the leads from jet 2 into the terminals for jet 1 jet 2 will work. I’m not getting any voltage to the leads on jet two. There is also no jet display on the control head coming on like it does when I turn on jet one. Also I have no voltage to the heater. Heater ohms out at about 17. Incoming voltage is correct and landed correctly. Control jumpers are on jp1, jp8,jp9. Could the problem be in the control head? I pulled it out and looked it over and the only thing I seen was the wires for the control light was damaged but nothing else. The IQ2020 board doesn’t appear to be damaged. Any trouble shooting tips would be great!
  7. Was running fine then the ready light went out. Cleaned the five filters. Ran Clean cycle. Still no Ready light
  8. All- tldr; Where does an air bleed line go to? Two links, one is in the filter area. Do I need the other? So I broke the 1/4" air bleed trying to restart my 2001 vanguard yesterday. Went to the hardware store, grabbed the parts and some epoxy and rebuilt it. While trying to maneuver the 1/4" air bleed line into place a t-tap broke off on the other end. One end goes into the filter area and the other snakes around the side where I have to remove the covering to get to it (I already started and decided to stop until I have better advice, it looks like a mess to tear that foam away for something I don't even understand. Where does it go?
  9. I have a 2016 Hot Spring Spa Vanguard. When I have more than a few people in tub, the 30 amp breaker will trip. When I'm in by myself or with one person, there are no issues. Hot Spring replaced my 30 amp breaker -- but the issue is still happening. Has anyone experienced this?? I'm trying to figure out how bather load could make the breaker trip.
  10. He ya'll, its my first post altough i've been following the forum for a few years now. I have A HOTSPRING VANGUARD, serial VV3M2392, which I bought used, I'm not sure what year is it, and I have been using it for maybe 18 months, but recently it began to shut off itself more often, a message on the screen says "protection mode" or something like that because is in spanish, and says to check filters for cleanliness, to reset main switch or to call service. At first I fixed it temporarily by cleanning filters more often, but then I began to shut down more and more often. on the manual says that when spa does not heat, green logo and blue logo blinking only two probable causes can be: Integrated pressure switch open or circulation pump overheating, since filters are clean, I would think the pressure switch is not working properly. I removed the filter from the circulation pump to be sure and still have same problem I live down in Mexico right now and its not easy to get proper spa service here, I have a friend that was helping me, but he has not answer for quite a few weeks now, he told me to first change the temperature sensors on the heater, there's two, one for the high limit and one for control, and to try this before changing the whole heater. I sent him money for the sensors but he still has not send them to me, its been 8 weeks since that and the spa its losing the best season for use. Since its not easy either to get parts over here, I took the heater off the spa this morning and I am checking it on my work table for cleanliness and to see if I can take it apart to change or clean more thoroughly. From what I've read, I think the pressure switch its not working properly, I'm trying everything before having to replace the whole heater which I think its about 400 bucks and I have to get someone to bring it down to me here in Mexico. Can the pressure switch be replaced?, How can I test it? or can it be jumped? I saw some replacement heaters that doesnt have pressure switch and come with a jumper. Can the temperature sensors do this? BTW I tried to remove the pressure switch from the heater and broke it from the thread, I think I can fix this with some glue but may be I should just replace the whole heater. I forgot to tell that the circuit breaker for the heater some times tripped its the 30 amp I think. Please Advice Eugene
  11. My education in spa plumbing continues! Thanks to the help I received on this board I have spliced in a new stretch of flex pvc to fix an earlier leak, replaced my jet pump’s wet end, but now . . . I found another leak. This one is right at the base of where a piece of flex pvc enters a 4-way junction (“manifold”?). Based on the location (rear right of the spa) and the number of pipes I assume this feeds the four precision jets located just above the moto massager. Unfortunately I do not think there is any un-broken flex pvc near the base onto which I could cement a fitting. So what do you think? -I could plast-aid around the leak and hope for the best; - I could cut out the whole assembly and splice in a new 4-way manifold snug up against the larger t fitting below, and then splice in 4 pieces of flex pvc with a fitting each; or - something else? If #2, I assume I just buy a new fitting like this? Here's a video of the leak. It's hard to see but i think the break is on the lower right most pipe, facing in toward the other pipes. Apologies for the shakiness. And thanks in advance for any help! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrCf-5eaExw
  12. Hi all, I put my leaking Vanguard up on cinder blocks and dug up through the bottom to find the location of a leak (hopefully *the*leak.) But could someone help me understand what I’m looking at? I’m assuming this is a stretch of flex PVC that is encased in insulating foam? It has a kind of bulge in it -- is that just a random accumulation of foam or a fitting? Water drips off the bottom of the bulge and it feels like the area above it is burst wide open. I was thinking I should cut out the damaged section, and PVC cement in a new short stretch with a fitting on either side, but I can’t quite imagine how I will clean all that foam off for a good fitting. The leak is approximately between "I" and "J" in the red area below (the leak drains the tub down to the jet stream jet "J" without the spa running): Here is a video that shows the leak location: https://youtu.be/tJKnqA7adhk Thank you in advance for any help or advice!
  13. Hi all, I recently took a chance on paying to move a free 2001 Hot Springs Vanguard. The owners said the “pump and heater” were replaced in the “last few years.” They also said there was a small leak from a “pump or hose.” I figured as long as it’s drained I might as well do a few replacements/repairs that are likely culprits for the leak. Reading around it seemed like the pump is a likely source, so I though I’d just look to see which pump --- circulation or jet --- was recently replaced, and then go ahead and replace the other one (figuring it was probably due after 14 years.) But, looking inside, neither pump seems particularly new, and both pumps match the specs on the original spa: a Wavemaster 9000 jet pump and a Silentflo 5000 circ pump. I do think the heater was replaced but more like 7 years ago than “a few.” So this raises some questions: - any thoughts on either pump as a more likely source of a leak? I read that a new pump seal is a good, cheap first fix for a potential leak but I’m not sure which pump or how to find the correct seal for these older pumps. - any advice on a general strategy for repairs or tune ups to do *before* I get this thing wired up and filled up? Or do I need to just get it running and then try to diagnose any issues? - any other obvious red flags you can see in the pics below (hopefully clickable thumbnails)? Many thanks in advance for your thoughts!
  14. I recently did a water change on the spa. The spa had been turned off at the main panel. Once restoring power the 20amp breaker in the subpanel will trip within 5 secs. It doesn't trip at the main panel. I mad a video of the IQ2020 board lights but not sure how to post it to the forum. The heater 30amp breaker doesn't seem to have a problem. I think this is a 2004 or 2005 model. Here is what happens on the logic board: 1. The breaker is turned on 2a. LIM OK lights turns GREEN D13 2b. Control Unplugged turns RED D12 2c. Appliance controls D17 turns RED 3. Then a clicking noise and the D13 and D12 lights go off but the D13 LIM OK light stays GREEN. The Heater 30AMP breaker is off. Any ideas of the problem? suggestions? The unit has been running with no problems since it was purchased around 2004.
