  1. Hi there everyone, I just joined the forum and first time pool owner. My wife and I bought a house in Jan that has an above ground pool. We opened it up on Memorial day and we've been working on getting it set up and the right chemicals in and such. We have a DE Filter and it's working fine however whenever I put in the vacuum accessory into the filter we lose all pressure in the filter and I can't get any suction to get the vacuum to even work. We're trying our hardest to not call someone out, I found the forum hoping someone can help us out. We're pool newbie so any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!
  2. I hate to pull out the hose, kneel down on the aggregate stone (ouch!) hold the hose over an return to fill the line and then finally put the hose into the skimmer. Seems there has to be a better way. I have devised in my head away to plumb in a 3 way valve that I would connect to the vac hose. In one position, it will send water out the line to purge the air and in the other position, it will then reverse and suck from the pool. If it works, I just hook up the hose to the vac head and drop it in the pool. Purge, then vac. This seems reasonable on paper. Has anyone done this? Am over looking something that spells impending doom? Other solutions? Let me hear what you have done. DSipp
  3. I am thinking about purchasing a robotic pool vacuum. My buddy has a Polaris which looks great and seems to work well, but it seems to be on the expensive side. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good quality, automatic vacuum, that's decently priced? Thanks!
  4. I have a Zodiac Barracuda MX8 that I just installed. For it to work properly, it seems to require me to either entirely or nearly entirely shut off the valve that connects the skimmer to the pump. The skimmer and the line for the vacuum are separate, but both go to the same pump. Before I installed the Baraccuda, as long as the filter was clearn, I could have each open to 50% and both the skimmer and vacuum would work. There is no main drain. I have all returns pointed up. The zodiac manual says to point them down, but they are currently set up perfectly to move water towards the skimmer. Is it that important that they be down? Thank you.
