  1. I own an Artesian Kona Elite hot tub. It has two 5HP pumps and the following filters: • Pleatco PAS50SV-F2M (large) • Artesian Spas 06-0052-12 (small) The situation I am contending with is balancing the filtration times, foaming and the water temperature. With long filtration cycle times I have no foam but the hot tub water becomes excessively hot (set at 104°F but 107°F actual temperature). With short filtration cycles I have steady temperatures...but the foam quickly returns. Example: Filtering essentially 24 hours/day results in no foam, but the water temperature stabilizes 3-4°F above the set point. Filtering 3 hours AM and 3 hours PM keeps the water temperature steady as set but...voila! Revenge of the Foam. I keep the water chemistry balanced, check and rinse the filters at least weekly, and occasionally use enzyme and Bright & Clear. Every 3-4 months I drain, clean and refill the hot tub with an inline filter to reduce minerals. When I change the water I swap filters with an identical set cleaned with Spa Depot Power Soak filter cleaner and thoroughly rinsed. We're experienced spa bathers, so hot tub-safe cleaners are used and suits are re-rinsed after washing. We live in central Oklahoma and the hot tub is outdoors. We live near a storm water mitigation reservoir which is typically dry and filled with tall grasses and vegetation. Knowing that dust, pollen and other airborne contaminants are literally everywhere, we keep the cover on and secured when the tub is not in use. Some questions I have been unable to get satisfactory answers for: (1) The tub has two different size filters. The guys that delivered the spa installed the large filter nearest the control panel and pack side of the hot tub. Since there have been numerous issues with the delivery and installation process (still being worked out 10 months later) I'm wondering whether these were installed in the correct position? Based on the absence of any guidance on the topic, I'm assuming the positions are interchangeable but I don't like to assume facts not in evidence. (2) Is it possible to use different filters to increase the efficiency of the filtration process? The local spa company says no, that the filter sizes are sacrosanct for the make and model of hot tub. (3) The local spa company advised to use anti-foam agent. When I argued that should not be necessary on a regular basis they did change their tune, but as yet haven't offered up any advise on mitigating the foam without turning the hot tub into a lobster pot. Does anyone have any advice? Thank you for any advice! Matt
  2. I have a second hand hot tub that I received as a gift and we got it running a couple months ago. We have had some issues lately. It was running fine for about a month until the control panel began showing only a blinking “ready” and blinking “power.” The jets and light work fine but the temperature began to drop and after some research I assumed it must be the temp sensor. My boyfriend replaced that for me yesterday and at the time the water was warm, but not hot. After 24 hours it is starting to drop in temperature and isn’t nearly as warm. Now the screen is just blinking “ready.” I tried turning the power off at the breaker and turning it back on and it starts up fine and screen looks normal but then after about 10 seconds something clicks and the screen just goes back to blinking “ready.” It’s in the 30’s here in NH and expecting snow soon, so hoping to fix it before conditions get worse! But not sure what else it could be! Water level is over the jets... is there something else we can do? Maybe an issue with the part replacement? Thanks in advance for any advice or help!!
  3. I have a 2000 Sweetwater Palermo spa. The water temperature is 3 degrees lower than the digital readout on the display on my control panel. (the temperature from a thermometer of the water reads 97 degrees but the display reads 100). I have a new heater, new filter and recently changed the water. I've had this spa since 2000 and am very familiar with how it heats and this is really not normal for the spa. Any clues what the issue might be? Sensor, topside control panel, etc.? Thanks.
  4. Any suggestions how to resolve a non responding temperature heat button on a Sundance Caprio? - I found the spa set at 40 deg C (104 F). I turned it down to 34 deg C (93 F) as it was not being used. Some days later when we sought to turn it up to 37 deg and the heat button did not respond in any way. The cool button responds and I was able to reduce the display temperature to 18 deg C (64 F) which was strange as it always stopped at a minimum of some 33 deg C. I cannot raise the temperature display from 18 which it reads when the cool button is pressed only. The little red light is inactive at all times. Both the actual water temperature and display still read at 34.4 deg which is now some 2 weeks after the issue was found.. We have tried switching the spa off to "reset" but no change. Is it possible that because it was left for some time at 40 deg C during a period of hot weather days that it has "triggered" a thermal cut out or some other isolating feature? or has a sensor been affected? All other functions seem to be operating normally.
  5. Hi guys, this is my first post, but I wonder if anybody could help me. I have a Chines hot tub. When I switched it on a few weeks ago the temperature reading said 40 degrees C, but the water was actually 16 degrees C. I renewed the temperature sensor but the problem remained. I have today replaced the PCB with a new one (as I was told it could only be one of these two things!). Now I have an "FF" error code. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks in advance. Dave
  6. I have a natural gas lrz heater that is reading the wrong temp. Reads 93 when water is 80 ish, it turns on if I set the dial higher than 93 but its getting worse so I would like to fix it. Should I just replace the temp sensor or can I clean it or someething? Or is it another issue entirely? Thanks a lot
  7. Hello, I have a Island Spa Grand Bahama 54 jet made by Artesian from 2003. A year ago I had to change out the main control panel with a new one made by Gecko. SInce then My water temperature is not as hot as the top panel says it is. Just to test it I set the temperature on top panel to 102 degrees and left it all night. Next day I tested the water with 3 differant thermometers and they all read betwee 97 and 96 degrees. I have read that I should test the temperature probe. How do I get to it. I dont want to force that little cover thing off it because I don't know if I am suppose to. ALso I read some thermostats need to be calibrated. How do I get to the thermostat? ANd how do I know if this is the type to calibrate. Before this new control panel was put it the termperature was perfect. The new control panel did come with a new temperature probe but we just kept the old one in because we didn't know how to change it and figured that it was good. Thanks, Katie also is there a spell check on this board? I can't find it? Thanks for any help.
  8. The Story behind the tub. i purchased a balboa hot tub from a spa company in my city and this tub is a 1998. when i first set everything up they forgot to send me the pump so when i called them they couldnt find it and gave me a brand new ultra jet pump. when i wired everything up the lite leader board wasnt putting out the right voltage so i had to get it replaced. once i finally had everything said and done the problem im having is the following When i wired the pump up the diagram on the lite leader showed brn blu and blk going to pump as high low and common. and the wires that i have for my pump are black red and white. so finally i found a diagram on the internet for lite leader that had those 3 colors and i wired it up. the problem im having is when i first boot up the hot tub it begins heating with the pump on low speed. which is my understanding thats how it should be but unfortunately it wont heat up the tub past 80 degrees. but when i switch the high and low wire so that it heats with the pump on high it heats the tub to 104. the issue im having is that this will use much much more electricity. Anyone have any ideas on what could be going on? Any help is appreciated it!
  9. Just recently purchased a Used 05 Artesian Antigua Spa. When I started up tub (a few days ago) the water temp has been stuck on 95 the entire time. U can adjust the water tempature and the other night when it was aabout 55 out I had tub at 95 and tub was about 106 next day set at 85 had temp at 95 now it is 45 out and water temperature is 85 no matter what I set tempature too. Im assumming heater is fine and that my issue is with a limit, relay, thermostat, or contol board. Someone that can lead me in the right direction would appretiated. Thank you for your time.
