  1. Good evening all, After scouring the internet for some information I found this forum. Several weeks of reading through older posts and learning a lot I thought I could post looking for more specific information. I have a 2015 Masterspas Swimspa where one of the pumps went causing the breaker to flip and the water to freeze, the damage was one section of PVC. I’m in the process of repairing and upgrading it and hope to accomplish a reliable swim spa for my family to enjoy that runs on propane and uses salt water instead of chlorine due to a skin sensitivity shared with my wife and kids. I reached out to the manufacturer who said the spa cannot be converted to salt water but wasn’t able to give any specific reasons. I would guess it’s harder on components and would void the warranty? my ultimate goal is to run the spa through a exchanger and connect it to the wood boiler (part of an on going 40x60 barn build, the high efficiency boiler will heat the house and barn). But in the mean time I’d love to convert it to propane (which would be used in the summers as well) . One option I found is the Pentair Master temp, which is still vastly oversized for a 2,000gal tub. Another option, I see one post where someone uses a 75k btu DHW with an exchanger for their spa setup with favorable results. any help would Be greatly appreciated.
  2. My wife and I are thinking of replacing our 30+ year old spa with a new one. I have a simple (I hope) question: Can any new spa be fitted with a salt water system, or the spa must be salt water compatible? Can a system without a salt water system be retrofitted for it, or it must have the salt water system from the beginning? Thanks!
  3. Hi guys, My name is Alan, I'm from the suburbs of Sydney, Australia and own an inground pool of about 60,000 litres. Before summer last year, our chlorine and acid mixing box gave up wanting to work for me so I was adding the chemical by hand and that was no fun at all and nowhere near accurate enough so we had ups and downs all summer! So after talking to a few other pool owners we know, we where told that converting to salt water would be alot less work and easier to maintain so I've just installed a Zodiac Tri (mid) chloring generator! I've just about got the pool ready to have the salt added, but im really unsure of what setting i should have the control box set to? In the manual it states the required levels i'll need but doesnt explain what setting to have the chlorine generation at?? If anyone has one of these generators it would be awesome to hear from you and get some tips on what to set mine to!!!!!! Cheers, Alan.
  4. I may need to get a new tub. Mine is 30 years old, and the heater doesn't appear to be working. Are most new tubs salt water compatible? Nature 2 compatible? Ozone, ion compatible? Are the spa brand and the sanitizer independent of each other? Or are you locked into a sanitizer method with a certain brand of spa? Bromine gives me eczema, and it's hard to keep the levels high enough to sanitize and low enough to not irritate my skin. Thanks!
  5. Hey everyone, So I've been doing a good deal of research on a new spa purchase. I know I want a larger tub, that is preferably deeper(I'm a larger fella, tall and heavy, but not huge). A big plus for me in a tub is easy maintenance, with lower to no odor, and minimal skin irritation. I'd like something my girlfriend and myself can stretch out in, but also that will accommodate several people for when we have parties. I intend to build a Sauna in close-ish vicinity to the tub, not that this is all that relevant, but I'm assuming you guys and gals have more experience with this, so who knows, perhaps it's a point to be made. Anyhow, build quality and energy consumption are huge selling points for me, as I'd like a tub that is low maintenance, durable in southern Michigan winters, won't cost me a ton to maintain in both price and time, and will cause me less hassle in the long run. I know that a good relationship with a dealer is extremely important, so that aside, assuming they all give equal service, what are your thought on Models, and brands I should be looking at, methods for getting the best price, and filtration and sanitization methods and add-ons for these models, to make maintenance as easy and cost effective as possible. Also, are there any brands that simply just blow the competition out of the water in terms of any of these specifics? Thanks for your input, and try not to make this a soap box for disdain.
  6. New to this forum and getting ready to build a 20x40 igp. I would like to know which chlorine generator, heat pump, pool pump, control system, and light system they prefer. Here is what I am considering. A 30" hayward 2 inch pipe 1.5 hp 2 speed pump, a aqua pro 1300 heat pump (125 btu) , color logic led light, aqua-rite & 40k salt cell. I found this kit at Royalswimmingpools.com. I am also looking into a robotic cleaner. I live in southern Missouri and it will have unobstructed sunshine most of the day. Any input is appreciated. I plan to hire a contractor to do the install, as I do not have the time, talent, or tools for the job. Thanks again. I will keep everyone posted with pictures and progress.
  7. Hi there, I'm the property manager of a large estate. I've noticed that the salt water pool turns green very frequently in the summer. The pool guy says it's just because it's hot, and that it's normal. But I'm starting to wonder if we should try somebody new. He's here 2 times a week!! I've heard salt water pools are difficult to maintain... but really? It's a SWAMP today... not good. My handyman recommended someone who's supposed to be really good. Should I switch?? Or is this the best that can be expected? I LIKE our current guy, he's been coming here for years. But.... I appreciate your feedback.
  8. I am buying a fiberglass pool and trying to decide on the best sanitizer that is pet friendly. I have a black lab who inherently swallows a fair amount of water while in the pool. I realize that the salt generators produce chlorine, but at lower levels than a traditional clorinator. But are the salt and chlorine levels safer for a dog than traditional chlorine and mineral (copper/silver) ? The mineral cartridge based systems, such as Frog, are supposed to purify the water, but still require some levels of chlorine for sanitation. At first, I was going to pursue this approach, but I have not been able to find enough information to convince me. Any advice or guidance on the best sanitation and safest for dogs ?
