Hot tub pump not working on high speed
RTubber posted a topic in Portable Hot Tubs & SpasMy hot tub pump works on low speed, maybe not as powerful as it used to be, but when I switch over to high speed it sounds like it tries to start for a second, and makes a click or a thunk sound before cutting out. I can also only get the heat to go to about 60 degrees too. I'm guessing this is related to the high speed pump not working. I have checked all the wiring with a voltmeter, and everything is reading ok. The tub has been filled for a few months, and I ran the cycles to clear any trapped air so I don't think that should be it. Nothing looks to be blocking the flow of the filter either. The breaker never trips, and one thread I found sounded like it could be the capacitor, but that sounds like the low speed wouldn't work, but the high would, which is opposite of my case. I'm thinking I might need to replace the pump, but was hoping someone could confirm that might be the case before I paid the money for a new pump. Thanks for any help in advance. 1619790068_IMG_1401-Trim.MOV
Help with Impeller part number.
bradzal posted a topic in Portable Hot Tubs & SpasHi, I have an 2010 Arctic Spa Tundra. Recently pump 2 stopped working. I took it apart and found that the impeller shaft broke off. I am trying to find the same impeller to install but there is no part number on it. The most I can find is BF and the green, brown, blue, red, and black stripes. Here are some photos of the parts/damage: https://imgur.com/a/DnUnFFi Can anyone help me locate this impeller? The inlet/outlet of the pump is 2.5" and 2" if that helps. Let me know if any more info is necessary to find the correct part. Edit: I think I found the part. Can anyone confirm I have this correct: https://arctichottubparts.com/impeller-pentair-1-spd-north-american.html Also I was going to pick up the seal assembly as well just in case (is this the correct one): https://arctichottubparts.com/pump-wet-end-viton-seal-assembly-pentair.html Thanks!
Strange behavior during extreme cold temps
slatz4prez posted a topic in Portable Hot Tubs & SpasHello everyone, I've had my 2012 hut tub since new and have had no issues with it... until this winter season. When the outside temperature reaches approximately -4F (-20C) or below, two things happen: Pump 2 engages and doesn't shut off. I have to manually turn it off. However, when I manually turn it off, it will turn back on when a) a set filtration cycle starts, or a call for heat occurs. The heater is not turning off when the desired inside temperature has been reached. For example, I keep my hot tub set at 101F, during a cold two week stretch we had the tub reach 114F because I left it for a couple days and didn’t manually turn off. If it's anywhere above approximately -4F (-20C), the hot tub operates as expected. Calls for heat at the right times, goes through the filtration cycles correctly, etc. I tried changing the filtration cycles to see if that does anything... which it didn't. I've reset the system, still didn't do anything. So I guess what I'm looking for is some suggestions on how to troubleshoot this. Don't know if it's a board issue, pressure switch, heater, etc. I've tried Googling this issue and I haven't found anything similar. Outside of moving to a warmer climate, please help! Here's some additional info: 2012 Sundance 680 Series Two pumps - Pump 1 and Pump 2 (no circulation pump) Here is an excerpt from the manual that may be of interest: Approximately two minutes after power is applied to the spa, the first filtration/heating cycle turns on pump 1. With two pump models, an automatic five minute “blow-out” function also activates pump 2 for a period of five minutes to flush all lines. Then, after five minutes, pump 2 turns off and pump 1 continues to operate for the duration of the cycle. Thank you.
