  1. I had an issue of no heat last fall, Warranty rep came this spring and assured me that when he opened it he would see that the heat exchanger coil was rotted due to bad pool chemistry. I told him I had the water and chemicals tested every week during the season. The heater was only used for 3 months out of the year . I know the water runs through it all year reguardless. So he took it all apart today and said that im the 1 in a thousand because the tubes were all in good condition. Now waiting to hear why the blower seized and what was causing the leak because he said there was water in the blower . The heater is practically brand new. Originally he said i needed a brand new heater and replacement was not under warranty . He also said he has seen a brand new 333 go bad in 3 months due to the low ph in the water is that possible? 3 months. Im opting for the nickel upgrade Any replys appreciated Mike
  2. I am trying to determine the best heating option for a 18' x 33' x 52" ABG. The pool is located in PA and the weather is very seasonal. I have read that heat pumps are not recommended if the temperature drops below 45 deg. Farenheit, but the pool will be closed late September - early October, depending on the weather. All of the heaters I have looked at are either natural gas or propane. I would like to not use either if possible. Would a heat pump be okay to use in this situation and what are some recommended manufacturers. Aside from how each device heats the pool,. are there any other major differences or are they pretty similar? Thank you in advance for any advice on this topic.
  3. Hi there: This is my first time here and would like to ask for some direction. I have a 6 years old Jandy LXi pool heater. This is for my in ground salt water pool and currently having some issue that just started 3 days ago. I have noticed that the wall panel controling my pool equipments inside the house is not working. So, I check the electric breaker panel inside the house that supplying electricity to the pool and in was tripped. When I reset it in a few seconds it trips again. So, I thought it was the breaker that has a problem. I replaced it cost me $200. What I did to start my investigation right, I switched off all the breaker in the pool panel outside the house: 1. Filter; 2. Pump; and 3. Heater. I turned ON the breaker inside the house and then turned ON the breakers one-at-time outside the house. Filter - OK Pump - OK and when I turn ON the Heater after 3-5 seconds it trips off the main breaker inside the house. I did try these same steps 3 times with the same results. I would like to know or hear any suggestions on how I can troubleshoot my heater problem. Any input is very much appreciated. Thanks, Joe
  4. Good Day To Everyone, I am new to the pool ownership family and as such, I will apologize ahead of time for any mistakes and/or omissions i make ...I am grateful to all for any help you can provide me with... I have a 10+ yrs Sta-Rite Max-E-Therm SR400HD pool and spa natural gas heater. I purchased the home last year in June and at the time the heater worked with no issues. I did not run it during the past winter at all. I am now trying to get it going now but it won't run or start up nor make any noises whatsoever. When i turn it on the following happens: code Ad0, then Sf1, then all the lights on the panel flash, then 888, 180, and lastly r4 before the panel shuts off. Can someone explain what these codes mean? Or what could possibly be wrong? It is currently beyond my capability to just replace it so that's why I am trying to figure out if i can repair and/or replace anything that might be wrong. Pool is about 10,500 gallons, in ground, plaster, water is flowing into the heater, no water is leaking out of the heater or the filtration system.
  5. I need some help/advice here. I recently bought a house with an existing spa/pool set up. Was notified about the pool heater not working before buying the house. The heater is a Sta-Right SR400NA. Have no clue as to how hold the unit is. I am not sure if the unit is fixable or if I should just go ahead and buy a new one. At the very least the control panel on the top with the buttons and number readout need to be replaced. I opened up the unit and it looks decent on the inside, no major problems that I can see besides the control panel but I am far from an expert about pool heaters. Pool guy came out and took a look at it and said it probably just needs replacing that if I got a tech to come look at it and start replacing parts I could just buy a new one for the same price... I took some pictures of the unit and attached a link to them below. If anyone wants to see any other pictures or needs part/model numbers let me know and I will get them. I am new to this forum and hope someone out there can help me. Thanks in advance and look forward to hearing from you. Thanks, Clayton http://www.flickr.com/photos/100773952@N05/
  6. We have a Laars LT 400 pool heater with a flashing pressure switch. The heater does not fire up. It seems we may need to replace the pressure switch? Where is it located in the heater? The diagram is confusing to say the least.
  7. I have a 250000 BTU LoNox heater. The heater kicks on and off without reaching temperature. Sometimes the burners will come back on after a minute or so. Sometimes after 10 minutes, sometimes the heater need to sit idle for a few hours before it will work again. Generally it will not bring the water up to the set temp. If it does the heater will not maintain the temperature. Also the blower will start, then the burners will go out. I just replaced the flame sensor, and seems to be worse. Both the pool and spa sides of the heater are set to max. I have the same problem weather I have the heater set on the pool or spa. The heater is activited by a Jandy Aquqlink control. Even at best the spa will come up to about 99 degrees, with the remote system set at 101. Then stop funtioning.
