  1. I have a 2003 Catalina spa. After a power outage, the spa keeps giving the OHH error code. When I flip the breaker, wait a few minutes, then flip on, the spa goes into prime mode, but within a few minutes throws the OHH code again and shuts down. The water is cool, so I know it's not truly overheating. I have replaced the M7 sensors as that was the first issue after power was restored. I found that one of the sensors had gone out. I've checked the flow and it is good. Another article I read here mentions a diode being bad on the circuit board. How do I locate and repair this diode? Thanks in advance for any help!!
  2. I have an older (2003) Sundance Altamar 880 spa, which are going into protect mode (watch dog error, four dashes). I can reset the error by turning of the power with the circuit breakers, but the error reappear after some time. As long as the water is cold, the massage pumps operate and the error stays away, but as soon as the water is warm enough for the massage pumps to stop, the error appears. The display also shows the "OH" (overheat) error briefly before going into protection mode. I have removed the cover in front of the heater, and it is very hot to touch. I don't know if this is normal? I have read about the watchdog error on these spas, and many are suggesting that the capacitors may be bad. They seem fine here. I personally suspect the circulation pump, as it is suspiciously quiet. Could a failed circulation pump cause these errors? Thanks!
  3. Thanks for reading. I'll cut to the chase as to not waste anybody's time who is kind enough to read this post. I'm having actually 3 issues with my hot tub and I believe they are all related. So if I can pinpoint the cause then I may possibly be able to kill 3 birds with one stone. The spa is a Sundance Optima, I believe year 2000. My first issue: I lose power to the hot tub sporadically. The GFI breaker does NOT trip. I am losing power somewhere in the hot tub itself. I have tested the panel on the spa itself while it has shut off on me and there is power to the panel. all fuses in the circuit board are fine. I have power to the main panel of the spa. After shutting the breaker off for about 30 minutes and then turning it back on it will repower and work fine. Only other thing I know about this is that the touch panel doesn't always function properly. Hoping this isn't my issue because that's not a cheap repair. Second issue: The hot tub is overheating. It always heats to 106, then get the over heat code and it maintains that temperature. I am assuming that there is a pre set limit and that's the temp it's set at? (hi limit switch is working then?) Third issue: The heated water coming out of the heater into the spa at times (not always) is hot enough to scald if you get too close. So this tells me that possibly the circulation pump isn't pushing water through the heater fast enough? But even if this is the case, wouldn't the spa still shut off at the desired temp (101) even if the water coming out is too hot? Appreciate any advice. I'm willing to replace whatever needs it, but I hate to blow $300 bucks on a new touchscreen if that's not even causing the problems. Thanks again.
  4. Hi Everyone, I just joined the community here looking for some help with my hottub which started acting weird. I *think* I mostly likely need a new pump, but I figured I'd post and get some opinions first. It's a 2010 and the spa was made by a company called Strong Spas. It has a Balboa Revolution (TP600) control system and a Water Way pump (model # PV-30-2N22C). I don’t know much more than that as the tub came with the house. Anyway, it’s worked fine for the last 3 years that we’ve had it. Today we went to use it and when I opened the cover the low power jets were running, I figured it was either heating or filtering, so didn’t pay much attention. I hit the Jet button again to turn on the full-power jets and the pump made a loud grinding/hum noise and then shutdown. If I hit the button again for low pressure jets they’ll come on and run normal, but as soon as I try to turn it to full power jets the pump makes a noise and then shuts down. I took the side panels out to investigate and couldn’t find anything obviously wrong, although the motor does seem to be running hot. I turned off the main power and left it for about 4 hours, then turned the power back on and tried again with the same results. If I watch the pump when someone else turns the jets up I can see it running normally, then as my wife hits the jet button the pump does step up to full speed (although noisy) for about 2 seconds and then shuts right down. If I don’t touch anything after it shuts down, every minute for so it’ll start itself up to full power, run/grind/hum for the 2 seconds and then shutdown. Turning the jets back to low power the pump resumes normal operation. So far my thoughts are: -Capacitor on the motor is too weak to get the motor to full speed – maybe not likely since it does run at full power for a second or two… -There’s a faulty pressure switch somewhere that’s shutting the pump down thinking that it’s dry (it’s not – I’ve checked and there doesn’t appear to be air in the system, and the water level is where it should be)? -The pump itself is bad/worn out and it putting itself into some kinda protection mode whenever the jets are turned up? Any help or advice with this is much appreciated.
  5. Please help. I have a spa crest hot tub. We have recently replaced the circ pump, and entire balboa box with circuit board and heating element etc. Circ pump is 24 hour continuous but kicks off when jets 1 is turned on causing dry and overheat error codes. The circ pump will continue to run simultaneously with jets 2. Im at the end of my troubleshooting skills. Any advice will be much appreciated!
  6. Acquired a Jacuzzi Santina hot tub when I purchased a home about a year ago. Just started getting an overheat (OH) error; unit had been working properly before (so far as I know). It has been hot outside lately (around 90 or so), but I am surprised that this is happening all of a sudden. The water is definitely hotter than it's ever been before, and it's set low (around 95). Pump and heater were supposedly replaced about 2 years ago. I tried swapping the filter, but waterflow seemed fine (the "Water Rainbow" and jets seem to have usual power). Issue persisted with a clean filter. Is there any troubleshooting to do on this? The control panel is simple -- a red LED display, a temperature button (up/down), a pump button (hi/low), and the light.
