  1. Before emptying the hot tub and refilling for the winter months everything was operating fine on the hot tub. After refilling when powering the tub back up, the red power light / LED started flashing after coming on solid for roughly 5-8 seconds before flashing. Below are various observations and items tried to diagnose why the IQ 2020 control box is going into a mode of flashing the red power light. * Hot tub was purchased three years ago not being operational and needed a replacement heater power relay board to get running then. * Filter removed from circulation pump inlet to rule out a clogged filter * Water released from drain valve to expel some air present as an air lock was initial suspected issue * Upon turning on power, red light turns on solid for roughly 5-8 seconds before going to flashing. * Circulation pump does not turn on until the red light starts flashing (no flow during initial 5-8 seconds) * Water flowing up from water feature when turned on and flow seen from heater return (flow of heater return not yet checked) * 220V GFCI breakers to the spa reset multiple times (off for over 30 seconds each time) before turning back on. * Power cycled with turning on only the control breaker and NOT the heater breaker shows the same flashing red light after 5-8 seconds * Rear auxiliary panel and LED modules both disconnected with flashing red light still being present upon power up * Ran circulation pump for 8-10 minutes with heater breaker off, then checked thermistor values. hi-limit was 16.33 kOhms, Control was 16.93 kOhms. I have read that these two values should not differ by > 0.2 kOhms and they did differ by 0.6 kOhms. * Current heater is not a Watkins heater, but is a ThermProducts 26-C3160-1S heater (with limit switch wire) that must have been installed by previous owner. * Circulation pump appears to be original. * Next step today is to remove the drain cover to place in plumbing to allow for measuring flow rate to confirm being greater than 3 gallons/minute In doing extensive internet searches, I cannot find any information as to what the power up sequence is for the IQ2020 controller to identify what should be coming on in what order and what items would trigger the flashing red power light. I suspect that my issue is between the circulation pump, the heater and the thermistors on the heater, but would like to absolutely confirm which needs replacement instead of all of them. I would appreciate any feedback on what to do next for further diagnostics to determine the failed part to replace it with it now getting just below freezing overnight. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide. redzr1
  2. Hi! A couple days ago we noticed these three small bits floating in the hot tub. (I attached a bunch of pictures) We did some investigating and it looks as though the light cap just under the moto massage has broken. I think it was a clean break because the top and the threading barrel fits together perfectly (I was thinking about using gorilla glue to repair it?) We’ve been trying to track down the parts (found 2 online that look similar) and find a reliable vendor to replace it. Unfortunately we are just out of warranty and the local spa repairman wants to send a bunch a people out to flip our tub on it’s side and replace it for $300-I’m feeling a bit uncomfortable about that and it seems excessive -considering I was able to access and find the location without all that labor. I think we can replace this ourselves and just order the light cap and screw it in? Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated -thanks so much!
  3. Would you use a 6 watt or 12 watt watercolors led in the spa part of a pool/spa combo.
  4. I am having trouble finding a replacement light for a 2005 Artesian Grand Bahama. It has a 24 LED configuration and has two jacks for 5-pin plugs. This part is no longer made and pin configurations have changed. Anyone find a good source for these? Maybe advice on how to convert to another style?
  5. I have a 1998 Hot Springs Classic Model F. The light bulb does not light up. Control panel buttons work and the display shows that the light should be on. I tested the board (IQ2000) and there is no power where the light plugs into the board. Is there anything I can do or does this just mean that this part of the board is bad?
  6. I have a pool light (no others) which will not turn on. The GFCI would trip immediately after I flip the switch on. My setup is this: I have a timer box with circuit breakers and one GFCI receptacle. The light and pool pump are not tied to the timer, only my chlorine generator is. The pump is not connected to the GFCI, only the light is. I turned off the circuit breaker that is dedicated to the light. I was going to plug a hair dryer into the circuit breaker and leave the light switch off to see if something other than the light would trip the GFCI. However, after turning the circuit breaker back on with the light switch off (several times), the GFCI acted like it had no power. The reset button would stay in and the test button would do nothing. I tried the hair dryer and it would not turn on. I measured the circuit breaker from the input to neutral and got 118 v when it was turned on. I cannot immediately measure at the GFCI due to its positioning. I will have to remove it. With this symptom, can the issue still be downstream of the GFCI or is it more likely that the GFCI is broken, especially since it initially would trip and the test button would work? Should I remove the load wires to test this?
  7. Hey Guys, Long time creeper, first time poster! I need some idea's on how I can repair my Hot Tub Light. There was a plastic piece, about 2" wide that went around the perimeter of the light, to seal it off. This has broken (see pic) and now it looks like the glue is deteriorating. There is a very small amount of water dripping through this spot, and its only going to get worse. Im looking for ideas of what I can do to properly seal the light fixture. I have a Sunrise Gecko HotTub if that matters. Thanks!
  8. I am looking for a replacement for a Sta rite sunbrite pool light model 05502. I've been to 2 stores and nobody seems able to help me find a replacement--it looks like they no longer make this light so is there a newer model that will fit in its place? Thanks!
  9. hi I have a 14 year old beachcomber 550x - the underwater light no longer works. I drained the tub and when removing the lens cap, found that the housing unit threads to hold the cap in place are no more (cap threads are fine) . It is also possible that the housing may have been leaking due to the thread issue, as I had a leak as well. I believe its a standard 3 1/2 or 2 1/2 housing with a 12 volt bulb driven by the balboa pack. what are my options here? - are there any diy steps to replacing the housing - I understand I may need to get to it from underneath, but not sure....or is it possible to silicone the cap back in and eliminate any potential for leaks? thanks
  10. Hello, After moving our Hot Springs Sovereing (2003), the light does no longer function. I can see the icon on the display lighting up, but no light in the pool. I guess the first step is to replace the bulb. - What's the spare part for this? - Can this be done via the service panel, in a fairly simple manner? Thanks!
  11. Let me first say that I am not attempting to do any electrical work myself, but my landlord sends his general maintenance guy to do the electric work on the pool. I'd like to be able to know if he's doing the work correctly. Our light went out a few months ago and a pool guy came out last week to replace it. He tried to check the GFCI but we don't have one. He wouldn't replace the light and recommended an electrician. The junction box is a few feet from the pool and is a box with a front cover (no GFCI). The light switch is in a breaker box that is dedicated to the pump and light. Do I just need a GFCI receptacle in the junction box, or is it not that simple? The house was built in the 60's. I don't know how old the pool is but it's possibly as old as the house. I am purchasing the house soon and want the work done correctly. Also, the front cover has not been on the junction box. Ii think it's been off for a few months and I'm wondering if water got in and behind the light. Would that cause the light to go out? I got a cover and fixed it yesterday. Thanks for any feedback....
  12. Hi everyone. So I finally bought my first spa. My wife and I are so excited. It is a 2006 Dream Maker Spa, x400.120 volt. So, we hooked it up last saturday, and everything is going very well. Starting last night, after my wife pressed the light button once or twice, (could have just been a coincidence timing wise) the spa started acting weirdly. A small clicking noise started to come from the engine area. The light would be on it's fade program, but flashing intermittently with the speed of the clicking. Also the display would go back to its default 100 degree setting (the default temp after plugging it in) and when you try to push the temp. up or down via buttons, it would flash "56" then go back to allowing me to attempt to change temperature. Last night when it first started, we tried a few power cycles by unplugging spa, and plugging in, to success. Then when we got back in tonight, it started again after 15 min or so. Things that might affect, that I have just found out. (we just moved into this home, so still learning the power situation) The breaker it is on is a 15 amp breaker, (hot tub takes 12 amps) that also, (at least, but could be more) controls the lights to 2 of the four bedrooms. (problem happens with lights on or off currently) I AM using a high gauge 25 foot. (i only needed it to be about 3-6 feet, but couldn't find a shorter one) extension chord. Doesn't seem like that could be the issue but worth throwing out there. The control panel could use some new clear silicone around the edge of the control panel, and the buttons aren't perfect from when it was brand new (just seems to have a little bit of wear, although all the buttons still work fine none the less) So....is there anyone who has any idea as to what this may be? Sorry for all the info, just know people smarter than I sometimes need all this information. Any advice really helps. Thank you in advance. -John
