  1. Hello everyone! I recently moved into a new house and didn’t receive any information about the spa here. We are draining it and trying to clean it but the filter seems to be broken. I’m not sure if there’s a part I can buy to fix it or an easy way to hack it?
  2. Hello - I have a 450gal tub that is 2 months old and I have a constant recurring issue. I filled the tub, added sodium bromide and shocked with MPS...I also have a bromine floater that is in the tub that I have set to "all the way open". I find it impossible to maintain a bromine readout from day to day. If I add dichlor I get a nice readout, but within 18 hours the readout goes to 0. Last night, I shocked w/MPS to try and reactivate the bromine. I will run a test strip tonight to see if there is anything, but the only thing I noticed this morning is that it made my water cloudy... Please help! UPDATE: Last night I was actually able to get a readout of bromine in my spa, which means something is finally working. The next question I have would be how do I maintain this level of bromine? Just keep shocking with MPS weekly, or is something else required more than that?

  4. We currently have an above ground, 500 gal hot tub with ozonator. It's only 4 months old. When we first got it, we did the Ahsome flush. The last new/clean fill we did was about a month ago, and things were going really well. We use 10% sodium hypochlorite to sanitize. CC was consistently at .5 or below. With this last fill, I tested the overnight demand and there was a 60% loss. I think, due to the ozonator, this hot tub has a high chlorine demand. My husband and some friends hung out in the hot tub last weekend for hours and didn't replenish any of the chlorine. The next day, I tested and FC was 0, CC was 1. The water was also very cloudy. so I thought I would try to SLAM. I've been doing it for 3 days now keeping it at 13ppm (as best as I can). The water has cleared up and is no longer cloudy. Initially, I was losing 5ppm chlorine every hour. Now, it's about 1-2ppm every 3 hours. Unfortunately the CC is still somewhere between .5 and 1ppm (I'm using the Taylor K-2006 kit, at the 10ml level). Am I understanding this correctly, I keep chlorine levels up until CC drops below .5ppm? Thanks! pH = 7.4 CYA = 30 Temp = 96%F
  5. The other day my hot tubs hush pump return split nut collar had broken which caused a water like explosion due to the pressure; after that had happened my hot tub shut off right away. Once the new part was installed I went to flip the breaker for the hot tub only to notice right after flipping it, it trips again. I had gone to the hot tub management system and unplugged the pumps one by one to find that it did not trip with hush pump disconnected, now the hush pump was fine and working up until this point, also which nothing had happened to it other than the split nut break. Model number is 750E
  6. Hi, im hoping somebody can assist me before I need to go down the professional route. I have a 6 person hot tub which I recently topped up by sticking the hose straight into the hot tub - only about 2 inches, but the next down I had a Low Flow Error and then DRY - weirdly the jets work fine and I have I have bled the pump, but the DRY error still appears and the 2 fountain and 1 waterfall don't work, yet everything else does - any ideas? Cheers Karl
  7. I have a caldera Tarino hot tub. It is a 115 or a 230v model. When I received it from the dealer it had the 115 cord hooked up to it and I wanted it hooked up to 230v. How do I know that it is set up fully for 230v 50a and able to run the heater on high jet and not only on low. I also got it with speakers that are not hooked up does anyone know what I have to do to to make those work. I was told by the dealer I could by a Bluetooth adapter for it but I haven't found one that looks like it will work. And can I use the USB port located inside
  8. The zipper on my hot tub cover is broken on one half of the cover near the hinge. Otherwise, the cover is in fine shape though it is likely 10 years old. (I'm not sure of the age as we just bought the house. The hot tub is 10 years old.). Is thtere a way to repair the zipper or seal the seam? I'm a new spa owner. Recommendations and knowledge are very welcome. Thank you!

  10. hello, I have a Nordic Sport hot tub. I believe 2002. The control panel will go dim and when it does the only button that will work is the Temp Up button and it is what will turn the jets off and on. When it is normal lit the correct buttons do the correct functions. So you can't control the temp or light when it is dim. If the power goes out or your reset the power box it resets the temp back to 95. I also have noticed it is getting stuck on low jets and not turning off after the 20 minutes of circulation. Any thoughts on how to correct these problems. Thank you.
  11. My hot tub is 3 years old and has a ClearRay UV sanitizer system installed. I have changed the UV bulb once, about 8 months ago. When the filtration pump is running then the ClearRay system signals that is working by illuminating two indicator lights. Both of the lights are out and I am wondering how I should start troubleshooting the system. Thanks in advance.
  12. Im trying to settle and argument between my father in law and I. The previous owners left a fairly new "used" 6 person in-ground hot tub uninstalled near the pool. I wanted to get rid of it but my father in law thinks that we can just build an above ground "shell" for it and incorporate the piping into the in-ground pool system. Im fairly certain this CANT be done. I once read that there was a difference in how the in and above ground hot tubs were made. Am I correct? Is it possible to build an above ground frame to house it? Or can In-ground hot tubs ONLY be installed in-ground for water displacement reasons? Please educate us! Thanks in advance!
  13. I have a 1200L hot tub and use chlorine granuals as my sanitizer and non chlorine shock as well. Lets say I go to use the hot tub... The free chlorine level reads 2.5ppm. After use the free chlorine would be converted to combined chlorine and would read 0ppm free chlorine. So now do I... A) add the non chlorine shock first, then add chlorine granuals. or do I add chlorine granuals first then the non chlorine shock.
  14. Hi! I have a problem I hope someone can help me with. I have a 400 gallon Four Winds hot tub. On Sunday I noticed the water was rather milky. On Sunday it was a white opaque color. I tried various methods to clear the water including non chlorine shock, chlorine, enhancer, and clairifier. The chemicals were all fine except for the chlorine (which fluctuates as it does in a hot tub). After nothing helped, I did a plumbing purge overnight then cleaned and refilled the tub. Today, two days later, I open the cover to get in and guess what?? Same milky water. Did a chemical check and all was fine except, again, low chlorine. I am at a loss. Help!!
  15. Hello all, i have a hot tub heater that has a problem, when powering the hot tub on from the mains in the house the heater turns on (without pump on) and sounds like a kettle while control panel is showing heater is off? it then eventually trips the red button near the heater element after about 40 seconds.if i turn on the control panel the heater on the pump starts and heater does not trip until up to temp. After opening the heater cover the wires around the heater and ''sensors'' look like they need replacing,i have opened main control box and the heater relay also looks like it has been very warm. what could cause heater to turn on without the lcd controller's main power light on??? what would you suggest i look at 1st? the lcd works as it should fine on everything else. there is also lots of flow when the pump for heater is on. https://www.flickr.com/photos/25806980@N04/25502362986/in/photostream/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/25806980@N04/24901783923/in/photostream/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/25806980@N04/25435745211/in/photostream/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/25806980@N04/25232878030/in/photostream/
  16. I'm getting ready to get a concrete pad poured for a new hot tub any suggestions on what the size and specification should be. What's a reasonable cost to pay in the Northeast. Also should we run conduit inside the concrete
  17. Firstly, thank you to everyone who shares their knowledge here. I have spent hours reading posts over the last few weeks and it's been a great education for me. I have a 17ft swim spa, so it's bigger than a hot tub but smaller than a pool. Volume is about 2000 gallons. Bromine system with a chlorine generator. Bought it last August. Lots of fun, no major issues. From my reading here I have learned a few things that demonstrate how bad the advice was from the pool store after installation..live and learn... - my FC levels have always been low (1 or lower). The advice of "check it once a week" with a test strip is clearly not enough for a bromine swim spa that is in the sun. Whatever FC is generated from adding oxidizer burns off that day. Weekly checks leave many days where FC was probably very low. - the generator is a nice idea but it really can't keep up with both bather load and sunlight combined. - I have since switched to using Clorox as my oxidizer , putting it in basically every night, using the pool calculator to target an FC level of 5. Hit it over the last couple of days so I am getting a feel for that. The water was slightly cloudy before I moved to Clorox, it's clearer now. The possible algae... - I started seeing what looked like small globs of dirt on the bottom of the spa last week, a week or so after a pool party the kids had (heavy bather load) - tried cleaning the filter etc but it persisted - created a basic siphon using tubing from the local hardware store..it tends to break up very quickly into a wispy sort of cloud but was able to get most of it out...but it returned overnight each time. - pool water is otherwise clear, easy to see the bottom, crystal clear when you go under water with googles on. So... - because I learned my lesson too late and low FC levels have occurred, plus 4 kids using it a number of times on top of regular bather load, I have to think Algae is a real possibility. - given I have a bromine spa I think I have two options 1- shock using instructions I have found in these forums. I would plan to add enough bleach to take FC over 10 and watch for overnight loss. I have a test kit on the way, they are not as easy to find in Canada. Question- given I have a bromine spa, any alterations to the usual a shock instructions I need to know? 2- I could dump the water. Since it's essentially a big spa and not a pool, a water change is an option. But...if it is algae a simple water dump won't solve the problem I would still need to shock I would think, so I am not sure this option gets me very far. I am open to other thoughts and input. I kick myself for not getting educated sooner but I believed the idea that I had a "self cleaning" spa and did not pay enough attention to water chemistry., plus the guidelines I were given really seem woefully inadequate given all that I have learned on these forums. I have found the learning here very beneficial, it's more than I have ever learned from the pool store folks, and I am moving towards using the simple products outlined in the BBB method to manage my water. Thanks all, advice appreciated
  18. I have a 3 year old Jacuzzi 310 hot tub that is inside the house. Wife and I are the only ones who use it and always shower before getting in. I have no problems keeping ph within range. I have the ozone system and use very little bromine occasionally. My problem is the water is hard and makes our skin itch after using it multiple times. Hot Springs dealer wants to sell me a new salt water tub. Another dealer says to switch current tub to a salt water system. Is the salt water system going to prematurely ruin the heater and pumps? I can not find an additive to soften water without leaving a film. We use the tub 4-5 days a week year round. Looking for some kind of solution from you experts out there. Do's and dont's to cure this problem??
  19. Hi all, As a housewarming gift, my parents game us the hot tub they purchased 14 years ago. It was brand new, still in its original box and packaging and never before used. We set it up this weekend and it is in surprisingly amazing condition. Everything is like-new. Unfortunately, I'm faced with a problem. I discovered while trying to prime the pump that there were no jet plugs in the box. The company who made the hot tub sold the brand to another company. That second company is defunct. I can't get an answer from any official vendor as no one knows who that is anymore! So I come to you. I have an Image Renew 815 Model IMHS81591 (Manual is here: https://www.iconservice.com/CustomerService/manualsProductManuals.do?model=IMHS8159&modelName=IMAGE+RENEW+815+SPA&version=1&company=21&language=) . I need 4 jet plugs. Are Jet plugs a universal size? Is there a way to figure out the size I need without draining the entire hot tub, getting in and measuring it?
  20. I just recently purchased a viking spa v100 plug n play hot tub with a built-in gfci. My question is my power cord is a couple of feet short from the electrical supply can I use a 10 gauge contractor grade extension cord to supply electricity until I can afford to have an electrician run new electrical for the hot tub?
  21. One of my pumps seized up on my hot tub. I had a replacement pump in my garage. As I was installing it, I found out that the replacement pump has 3 inch plumbing connectors and the old pump has 2.5 inches. The unions are set up for 2.5. Is there a way to build a converter to couple the 2.5 to the 3? I have not found anything online. I would like to avoid buying a pump since I have one already. Thank you
  22. I just thought I would share that my search for a spa had ended! After getting frustrated when despite talking to several D1 dealerships in the Twin Cities I was unable to secure a chance to wet test a tub from their Reflections line, I noticed Dolphin Pool and Spa on the side of the highway as I was heading home from another, unhelpful D1 dealership. I decided to pull over and stop in. Right away I noticed their low key attitude and I liked that. My salesrep, Margo was friendly and helpful. She seemed to answer questions honestly and in a straight forward manner. Since I liked what I saw, I made arrangements to come back the next day to wet test the Cantabria, the largest tub in their luxury line, the Utopia series. So yesterday, with a friend along for the ride, we went to test out the Cantabria. This is a big tub with lots of features. Some key points for me was that I seemed to stay in the lounger and the deep captains seats. Often, I feel like I'm floundering around in tubs, trying not to bounce around like a superball! Caldera was smart in their design and there always seemed to be a place for my feet where I could brace myself gently in place. The jets were vigorous and seemed to hit me in the right places to sooth some of my worst trigger points. Margot gave us an initial orientation to the jets and diverter functions so that we knew how to control the tub, and then left us to enjoy it. She handled that perfectly in that she was helpful but not intrusive. There are a lot of hot tub salesmen in the Twin Cities who could learn from her example how to make a customer happy! After the wet test I talked with her about price. She told me the initial prices they had set for the two Cantabria models they had available without special ordering. I told her which one I was interested in and where I needed the price to be as this tub is being covered on an insurance claim and the insurance company has given me a budget. She excused herself, then came back and said they would accept my price! So I signed papers and wrote a check right then and there. I am now the proud new owner of a Caldera Cantabria with all the bells and whistles! The price Dolphin accepted is a very reasonable price for what is Caldera's flagship, top of the line, luxury tub! At so many dealerships, I would get this uneasy feeling that I was being manipulated and taken advantage of, particularly because I was a woman shopping alone it seemed. At other dealerships when I would try to negotiate with them for a spa in their luxury lines they would act very snooty and direct me to their mid-level line. There was a HotSprings salesman in particular that looked very angry at me when I tried to discuss price on their Grandee tub, and they had it tagged thousands of dollars higher than what I have read on this board is a good, honest price for a new Grandee. I will never forget that man's face! And needless to say I walked out of there and didn't bother to return. If someone is going to be angry that I will not allow myself to be taken advantage of, then I don't need to have anything to do with them. Another dealership didn't want to bargain on their price as they said the State Fair is coming up and they needed their new tubs to bring to the fair, so it wasn't worth it to them to bargain at all. I thought that was an odd way to look at the situation to say the least, especially when the fair is still 6-7 weeks away! At Dolphin, I felt like I was respected, appreciated, and given a good price and an honest deal. They seemed to be happy to treat me well! In fact, Margo described herself to me as a people person who got her job satisfaction from making people happy. Well, she did make me happy, without a doubt! Dolphin not only sold me a spa, but as a pool and spa owner they won my loyalty for purchases for years to come!
  23. A local seller is offering to sell his 2004(!) Marquis Euphoria for $1,500, including local delivery and a 3 month warranty. He says it includes a "newer" cover, and the Synthetic Cedar siding was replaced in 2011. (That has me a bit nervous, because I wonder what it looked like before he replaced it!) The interior is Taupe granite. $1,500 sounds to me like a good price, but I'd sure appreciate the collective wisdom of the group. What do you think?
  24. Not sure if this is the right forum or not but im a first time spa/hot tub owner and i recently just bought an old 1992 hot tub/spa and i have no clue what im needing or if i need anything at all and the other is im not sure on how to hook up all the hoses and what not. Here's what I have a 1992 ANH inground spa/hot tub, a heater, a pump, and hoses to the jets...looks like its only water hoses though not sure on that really. The control panel has three push button style controls that are currently hooked up to nothing at all since im not sure what i'm doing. Can anyone provide me with a manual for this? and maybe tell me what else i would need to get and help on how to hook it up to get the hot tub going and be able to use it? oh, and i forgot to mention that the hot tub is a 2 or three person i believe with a lounge on one side. Thanks!!!
  25. Hi, I am thinking about buying an older model Sundance Altamar and trying to retrofit it with Sundance's new technology, such as the Fluidix jets and ClearRay system. Does anyone know the Altamar models for which this would be possible? Would it be cost effective? For example, a new 2013 Altamar in my area costs around $10,000. I see 2002 Altamar models selling for around $1,500. If I could get the total retrofitting cost to around $5,000, I'm tempted to do it. I don't know if that's possible or not. Thanks!
