  1. Hi all, im new to the forum. I recently purchased a Vita Spa Vintage hot tub with a heat problem. I believe the element is bad but not to sure. After removing it I did an ohms reading and got .17 ohms. I checked Spa Depots website before I found this forum and they said most elements range from 9-12 ohms if they are good, and some can go up to 25 ohms. So far the high limit and thermostat tested good so im leaning towards the element. Its a 240v and from what the element cover says is 6000 watts. Any help would greatly be appreciated! Also is there any way to test the thermocouple? From what I can see i has 1 wire going directly to the high limit.
  2. I am chasing an issue with my 2003 Hot Springs Grandee. The hot tub is only heating to 90-94 and will occassionally reach 98. Symptoms: Heat will only increase with Jets on 94 degrees avg temp when thermostat set at 100 Took 3 days to come up to 90 degrees after refill all pumps and Ozone seem to be fine and running with no issue Running without fitlers installed- same result- low heat Bubbles are coming from bottom drain when main pumps off When I lower/raise thermostat I can hear and see heater LED come on and off I have turned off both mains 20 and 30 AMP to reset plus main on fuse box for 30 mins Remediation steps to date: cleaned all filters in proper way Replaced both thermistors first- no change Replaced heater - no change Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sole
  3. I have a question I'm hoping you folks can help with. I have been looking over the forum and haven't found quite the answer to my question. I have a Hot Springs Prodigy 2003 running on 120v. IQ 2020 circuit board. The heater stopped heating the hot tub. No visible scorch marks on the heater relay board. Heater works when powered direct, I am heating the tub that way. Should I replace the heater relay board and thermistors for a $150 or is there a way to test them with a volt ohmeter? Or should I have service come out for $150 to check it out? Have new filters, have powered down for 30 seconds. Any advice on what to check for? Thanks
  4. I'm new here and hoping someone would be able to point me in the right direction. I have found a DreamMaker Spa that a my dad's friend is willing to take 50 bucks for to get it out of his way. He says the only problem is that it doesn't heat up anymore, but the pump circulates like it's supposed to and everything else works. I've done some research and noticed that DreamMakers do not have a separate heater, but rather heat the water with the pump itself. Would it be possible to install a heater in the plumbing of the tub after the pump, possibly one that would have it's own thermostat? The tub is ran off of 120v, if it's possible to add in a heater, I would like to run separate 240v to the heater and have the heater turned on by the stock controls via a relay. Is this possible?
