Calspa plumbing/air question
Oside Ops posted a topic in Portable Hot Tubs & SpasHi All! Is any air supposed to come out of one of the, I call them circulation jets, that are on the side underneath the lounger during circulation and heating (no air,) and when the jets are on with no air? We purchased a used 2013 Calspa ( I think it's an Envoy) from a dealer seven months ago. After a couple of months we noticed that one of the diverters wasn't working well to divert to the cool-off seat side. (It took a couple of months to notice because I did three cleanings/water changes with ahhsome before we started getting in it.) A tech from the store came out and replaced the diverter and redid some plumbing that was not correct. Everything seems to be working well now, but I don't recall air coming out of that jet (when no air is on) before the repair. Not 100% sure, though. Thanks for any help. Picture is during circulation cycle.
Circulation Pump Longevity
stevePDX posted a topic in Portable Hot Tubs & SpasGreetings all, Newbie here with a question regarding circulation pumps. I have a 2011 Calspa (costco edition) that uses one main pump (primary and secondary jets) and another pump (circulation pump). The main pump is one of those funky PRC Dually that are obsolete but still working fine. The circulation pump is a Laing E10 pump (230 Volts). The problem is that I need to replace the circulation pump every 2 years or so. It just dies! Is this unusual? I think its a 24/7 continuous running pump. If this is unusual, then what are some things you could recommend me testing? I appreciate any and all advice.
Hot Tub in OH mode Please help!
mwalker007 posted a topic in Portable Hot Tubs & SpasMy hot tub keep cutting off and displays the OH. The tub is about 15 years old. It is not even heating up to the temp setting of 103. It will run a couple of hours then shut down with the OH on the display. When the temp gets close to 100 it shuts down. I have checked the filter and cleaned it. I have opened all the valves, the pumps are working as it should. I replaced the heating element with a heavy duty one about 4 years ago. I have cut the breaker off several times to see if it would reset itself. The temp was 98 and it cut off with the OH on the display and will not to anything even when cutting the breaker off and back on still displays OH. I don't know what to do at this point and any insight would be helpful.
Year 2001, 2100 series CalSpa
SuperSoaker16 posted a topic in Portable Hot Tubs & SpasPLEASE HELP! Hello, I have a 2001 CalSpa 2100 series hot tub that was given to me. I'm trying to get it running and have just finished running a 220 line out to it and replacing a wet end that was cracked. There is a hose that is connected to the wet end of the pump on the left side of the cabinet and it runs behind the electrical box and over behind the 2nd pump that sits just behind/to the right of the electrical box. There is a clamp on the end of the hose but does not connect to anything. My question is where does it connect to? There is also another short hose that is on the right side of the cabinet that comes out where the wires for the LED lights go into the foam. Should this tube connect to something? I hope somebody may have the same model and can provide some help and/or pictures of the inside of their cabinet. I feel something may be missing from my set up. Thank you in advance for any help or advice!
Calspa - dually pump replacement issues
Gr8jeepin posted a topic in Portable Hot Tubs & SpasMy hot tub is making me crazy... I have a Calspa 2100 built in 2001 that had some weirdness going on... the jets button stopped working on my control pad (thus could not use hot tub with pump in high speed), I could only change temp to kick in low speed... (I could manually put the pump in high speed by engaging high speed relay). A new control pad was going to be a couple of hundred.. but because of it's age there was a chance the board was having issues.. so I changed the entire control pack. (besides button issue the hot tub was working). I installed a Balboa Spa Control System 54220-Z (VS501Z). I also replaced the original dually pump (it was so loud that it probably needed new bearings etc), I assumed a new pump would be more efficient and quieter. I purchased a Waterway 56 series executive pump. Part Number:3721621-1D Following the recommendations found online; I joined the TWO suction pipes together and they feed into suction side of pump. I joined the TWO return pipes together, and they split after the heater. The pump I just purchased will only run about a minute on low speed and turns itself off... it runs only about 10 seconds on high speed and turns it self off. My neighbor is an electrician and verified that the pump is wired correctly. My power is via 50 amp breaker via 6 guage wires to spa disconnect 50 amp GFCI, 6 guage wires to control pack. My electrician bypassed spa control pack and wired pump up directly to GFCI disconnect to test - pump operates the same - will only run about a minute on low speed and turns itself off... it runs only about 10 seconds on high speed and turns it self off. (we did this to see if control board was the issue) So obviously the issue is something with pump/motor. We did not test amp draw (he didn't have all of his tools at home). There is no obstruction, and the pump is moving water. We have tried with all jets open, some closed etc... and the pump has same issue. I think the motor has an issue. What other tests can I do to verify? Has anybody else had trouble replacing dually pump? Thanks, Steve
Calspa Dualy - Low Speed Is Faulty But Works...
TMWSIY posted a topic in Portable Hot Tubs & SpasHello All, I'm experiencing an odd behavior with my CalSpa 5000 w/ Dualy pump, and hoping this forum can help me troubleshoot. Lately my spa is having trouble activating the low-speed pump. When it cycles, the motor comes on, but the pump does not. It 'hums' but the jets do not activate. When not cycling, the same behavior is observed when I hit the jet button. In both cases, the high-speed pump works fine. The odd behavior: after hitting the high-speed pump, the low-speed works fine. It's as if the high-speed pump either improves flow / opens a gate somewhere, or it kicks the low speed pump into gear. Based on responses in multiple forums, I disabled the suction sensors by pulling the grey wires out of the motheboard this afternoon. That did not fix the problem. Thanks in advance for any thoughts you may have. Chris
Calspa Heat Erratically Turns Off
RobertGary1 posted a topic in Portable Hot Tubs & SpasI have an early 90's 220v large ps-3 supra electric. If we're in it for more than an hour or so with jets on high the heat will shut off and the spa will cool down. If I just leave the next evening it's back to 104F from the filtration cycle and it's running hot again. The heat breaker is not tripped. I can generally tell what temp the spa thinks it's at by spinning the temp control and listening for when it clicks indicating its below the current temp. When this problem happens it acts as though it thinks it's at proper temp. This year I replaces the timer (timer motor stopped) and last year I replaced the heater element. Otherwise everything works great 99% of the time. The heat otherwise runs nice and hot now. I'm wondering if the thermostat could be dying and perhaps it's not as sensitive. -Robert
