  1. I am having an issue and I'm hoping some water chemistry experts can chime in..., that at first I thought might have been white mold (even though it was a new spa), but tested and wasn't... resigned to it being hard water calcium flakes because I have been having white flakes floating all over the water that persists after water changes and a flush. But, after a recent water change I discovered that it isn't hard water, but in fact sealant used around the jets housing, lights, filter compartment, etc. that is crumbling. My spa also trips the breaker daily and i think this sealant, which is all in the plumbing, is causing the trips. I made a video so you can see what I'm talking about... The dealer is claiming chemical abuse of bromine and will not honor the warranty. My water chemistry is well maintained and always within range... my sanitizer is never too high and I've never done a super chlorination, yet they recommend one for this issue. Dealers I have spoken with have never seen the sealant come off like this and completely clog the plumbing as mine has. I'm wondering if someone can tell me if this is possible and how much bromine would really have to be used to cause something like this as they are saying it's a bromine issue. Even after shock, my levels only go up to around 10 at the highest then come back down to 3-4. I don't know what sealant they are using that a sanitizer at that level can destroy. Plus, they are also asking me to have the sealant (they are calling "white powder") tested and give them a chemical analysis of it. Crazy! Here's the video:
  2. I'm just starting to research which hot tub to get. I can accommodate 8'x8'. Looking to seat 4+ people. I think I'd like to have 1 lounge seat so I can really massage my sore legs after exercise. I've been to two dealers so far. One recommended the Sundance Romona and the other recommended the Cal Spas Avalon. https://www.sundancespas.com/en-us/product-list/ramona http://calspas.com/product.php?id=374 Which one do you think is better and are there other brands/models I should be looking at? I'm in Scottsdale, AZ. Thanks!
  3. Hello, We recently started looking for a 5-6 persons hot tub. We have no experience and no idea what we're talking about but we're learning. We looked at jacuzzi, Caldera and Cal spas tubs. A sale person told us that Caldera was the best, and that we would not find any complaints about any model....we quickly find that to be wrong, even though it does seem to be a good brand. He then told us we could get the Geneva floor model for 10000, tax included, with cover, steps, delivery and so on...We went home trying to find what this spa goes for, but it's so hard to find prices anywhere!!!! It didn't seem like it would be an amazing deal from what we saw. Any opinion on that matter? and out of these 3 brands, which one would be the most reliable? Thanks
  4. I have a sorry leaking Coleman Horizon 400 from the mid nineties. I have patched a couple minor and major leaks but I am done with it. I am looking at a bunch of spas right now. I am shooting for $6000-$8000 after negotiations. I am not interested in sound or lights. I am not really concerned with having a bunch of jets. It will be in the snow outdoor so insulation is very important to me. After working so long on a full foam I kind of have PTSD about it but I also want efficiency. I don't want a lounge. On my short list right now is... Cal Spa EC-735B in the mid $6k North Winds (Coast Spa sub brand) Freedom XL in the mid $7k Jacuzzi J-LX in the Low $9k Arctic Spas Midsun with Mylovac in the mid $8k Anyway, I'd love some advice on these if you've got any. The top 3 are all floor models.
  5. Last thread I started got zero responses so I guess Tuff Spas aren't well-carried in this forum. Regardless, I decided against the line as I just don't want to carry roto-mold. So I am looking elsewhere. To recap: Looking at possibly adding a 'leader' spa to my aresenal to compliment my high-end brand. Trying to keep the price at around $5k (US) with steps and lift. Looking at the Gen II line from Cal Spas. Anyone sell this brand? Any feedback?
  6. Hi Everybody! Checking to get opinions. I've looked at hot tubs before. Given my budget and costs I had at some point came to the conclusion I was better off getting a small, high quality unit over a big, cheaper unit. That is pay for build quality and quality of jets. I went around and tried things and realized some cheap jets felt like getting hit with a garden hose (not fun). Well I had set that in the back of my mind and went about tending to priorities of saving to build a new house rather than put money into existing one. Anyway I was going along and found this pop up on one of those black friday when a deal comes up you can get it if you buy it in the next 15 seconds type things and bought a Coleman Rotomold. I know it's cheap, and I know it's made by Cal Spas which is, um, also cheap. But basically I paid $1,699 including shipping. At it's retail price I would have said heck no it would be silly to not spend an extra $2k on a better maker. So what do you think, is this a fair buy for $1699? http://www.homedepot.com/p/Coleman-Spas-6-Person-30-Jet-Lounger-Spa-with-Easy-Plug-N-Play-and-LED-Waterfalls-CO-R730L-A-C/204356592#.Up6wLcTa_U0 Or should I run, not walk, to cancel ASAP?
