  1. Dear masters of the spa, I have spent days reading the threads here and thank you everyone I have learned loads. I Have owned my spaform 4000 for 12 years here in rainy old England. it has 6 seats and a bubble bed, large twin filters, 1 x twin speed pump, 1xhigh speed pump, a light, a non functioning blower (dead blower I think). Pipes are clean, pumps and seals are new etc etc. You can fit 8 people in it comfortably and It works perfectly but is now being used by paying guests staying at the house it's at. When guests stay for more than one night the problem arises, no one is able to go there and check the tub and chlorinate etc. Generally, most bookings involve 5-8 guests getting in drunk and dirty for a couple of hours, they crank the temperature right up and spill booze amd smoke in it and generally have a bloody good time. Fair enough. However, after the end of a stay it's sometimes inevitably a foul smelling green or cloudy beer pond. Before each lot of guests arrive, we get the ph neutral, filters clean and chlorine to 7ppm. We add 1 x small chlorine tablet directly to the skimmer weir trap above the filters. This has usually disolved by the 2nd night. I Keep the filters changed every week and clean up any problems after each booking but with a 4 hour changeover time between guests there will be a day when the tub isn't ready or cold for the next guests. This can not happen! Plus I don't want the chlorine dropping to zero like that. I used to use Aquaguarde (think this then became aquafinesse) in the past and I don't mind doing it again if that is the best solution. So I have some questions... 1. How can I get the guests to add chlorine shock without having them handle any chemicals or do any testing. 2. Can I remotely maintain it via some cool internet based system? 3. Is aquafinesse with 2 slow release chlorine tablet dispensers the answer? I don't think 1 dispenser will cut it. Bather load is usually high. Up to 8 people for maybe 2-3 hours. It's currently sanitised with stabilised chlorine granules, mixed up in a jug with water then poured in slowly into the jetstream. It has an O3 generator too. Money is the lowest concern, I have to protect my holiday home business from a bad hot tub situation and the guests can not be exposed to dangerous chemicals at all or be involved in maintenance. Has anyone got any cool ideas? Thank you very much for reading this, you lovely clever people.
  2. I have an Easy Touch 4 with a Intellipro VS pump, two light circuits, blower, and a Pentair chlorinator. Pentair controls are not real common in this area due to market share more down south but this is what was at the house I bought and always believe if is not broke, don't mess with it. Always worked well for me.Recently an Armadillo chewed through my wires going to my intake actuator causing it not to switch when I turn on the spa. I discovered the shorted wires. I turned off all power in the main panel and repaired the shorted wires. Turned power back on put in SERVICE mode and checked the actuators by hitting the valve button. They worked. Put control back to AUTO and pump would not come on. Removed the high voltage cover and check current coming out of all breakers. They were good. None of the three little circuit breakers at the top right of the control panel were tripped. I checked the pump relay high voltage and had no current coming out of the load connections. Had current on the line connections. Checked the low voltage on the relay and discovered that current was going through the relay but the board was not energizing the relay. I swapped the connector on the back of the board from the blower which is on Aux 3 and energized the blower button and the current flowed. That circuit does not have the capability to schedule on a 4. Got out the manual and found that the Intellipro VS was wired through the relay and not direct current to the pump as manual said. I wired the pump to direct current hit the pump button and the pump works, Spa side control works and so does in inside panel, but neither would turn on pump before I rewired the motor. Checked to make sure pump was addressed as "1". However even though pump works the relay still does not energize for the chlorinator. Second problem was Aux 1 which is the pool light was on. I could cut it manually off but it would come back on when it wanted to. Totally went back through the programming and found no errors. However it appears after sitting a couple of days the light circuit AUX 1 has stayed off, which is no major problem. Could wire it with the spa light on Aux 2. After checking the program and relay still did not energize I tried a new relay for the fun of it. Same thing no work. I hit the reset button on the panel, no change, turned power off to control for a day, still does not work. Called Tech Support and we went back through programs and checked voltages and the Tech Guy, who seemed more knowledgeable than most felt that the motherboard had severe issues but could not tell me why one of the circuit breakers did not trip due to the short. We even erased the EEPROM to see what that did. Okay my question:If I was to set the IntelliPro address to 2 and program pump 2 in the settings menu do you think that the relay would energize by doing that or do you have an better idea. I have been afraid to manually ground the other side of the low voltage relay because I did not want to damage the motherboard. Any help or advice would be deeply appreciated. I
  3. I have the following equipment and want to add SWG and in the process automate the equipment and make it easier to switch between pool and spa and control the temps. Pool is 26K and spa must be around 4-5K gallons Pump: Pentair Variable Speed (4 speed) Filter: Purex 4000 series DE filter (10 plus years old but really well kept and serviced) Heater: Purex Mini Max Plus heater (10+ years old with rotary knobs for the temp controls) Pool and Spa each has 1 LED LIght with many color combinations I was thinking to go with the Hayward Aquarite chlorine generator with the T-Cell 15 for 40K pools but upon further review and paying only $200 more I can get the hayward PL-Plus Automation and 40K gallon chlorination. I will also purhcase 2 automated valve actuator (preferably Hayward) and connect the puzzle together for an easier single control center for all our needs and if need be a remote control to have handy? I am not sure how to add the current older heater into the control unit or will I have to purhcase a new heater to use thru the new controller? Your comments and ideas are welcome. Located in Southern California. Thanks
  4. We had a new pool installed last summer. All Jandy equipment - heater, aqua pure, pump, filter. We went a little overboard on the size and blew our pool budget for the automation features. I'm getting tried of turning the pump on/off. Trying to educate myself on Jandy remote control components however with so many options - I'm very confused. Can anybody recommend an inexpensive setup for the following: Pump Control Heater Control 1 value (deck jets) with Remote Control or iPhone Your advice is greatly appreciated.
