  1. I have a Kreepy Krauly classic that is currently connected via a skim plate and it works great! I have an unused poolside 1 1/2" threaded female PVC fitting that at some point under my concrete pool deck is reduced to 1" PVC and goes to the pump & filter where it is capped. This line was apparently used previously by a prior owner for a pressure driven cleaner which was replaced with a Kreepy. My question is: If I connected this 1" line to the existing 1 1/2" skimmer line with appropriate valves and / or regulators to balance the flow, would I be able to successfully run my Kreepy using the 1 1/2 " poolside fitting and not stress the pump? I have searched the web extensively and could find no conclusive information regarding the feasibility of doing this. I would appreciate any and all advice. Thanks.
  2. I have a Zodiac Barracuda MX8 that I just installed. For it to work properly, it seems to require me to either entirely or nearly entirely shut off the valve that connects the skimmer to the pump. The skimmer and the line for the vacuum are separate, but both go to the same pump. Before I installed the Baraccuda, as long as the filter was clearn, I could have each open to 50% and both the skimmer and vacuum would work. There is no main drain. I have all returns pointed up. The zodiac manual says to point them down, but they are currently set up perfectly to move water towards the skimmer. Is it that important that they be down? Thank you.
