  1. Spa only leaks when jet pump runs. No noticeable leaks in service bay. Ideas? (Sure wish I could get a plumbing diagram.)
  2. I have a JETSETTER Model JJ, S/N JJ4P5154, that seems possesed. I think (hope) it is the topside controller, as I have a spare, just need to locate it. My current one is cycling the jets on and off, temp up to 111°, display flips 180° from tub view to outside view. In doing research, I see some mentions of needing to update S/W when changing out the topside controller. Does anyone know anything about this, where to get S/W updates and how to install? Thanks, Bill
  3. Hi! A couple days ago we noticed these three small bits floating in the hot tub. (I attached a bunch of pictures) We did some investigating and it looks as though the light cap just under the moto massage has broken. I think it was a clean break because the top and the threading barrel fits together perfectly (I was thinking about using gorilla glue to repair it?) We’ve been trying to track down the parts (found 2 online that look similar) and find a reliable vendor to replace it. Unfortunately we are just out of warranty and the local spa repairman wants to send a bunch a people out to flip our tub on it’s side and replace it for $300-I’m feeling a bit uncomfortable about that and it seems excessive -considering I was able to access and find the location without all that labor. I think we can replace this ourselves and just order the light cap and screw it in? Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated -thanks so much!
  4. I’ve got a 2004 Hot Springs Jetsetter that has been relatively trouble free until recently. Last month, a few days after water changeout, the level had dropped about 9 inches and I saw water leaking from below the spa in the back right corner in the vicinity of the motomassage. There was no water in the equipment compartment, so I scheduled a visit from a Hot Springs tech thinking it might be a quick diagnostic/ fix. No such luck. He came out, told me I had a leak and would have to drain the spa, move it away from the house, refill it, reheat it, and have him return. I drained, moved, and refilled the spa. I didn’t replug it since I was heading out of town for a week. When I returned, I replugged it, but did not check the water level. I’m thinking this may have been my first critical mistake. Or not. Did low water cause what happened next? The next day I glanced out to see if the spa had gotten to temp. There were no lights on the Control Panel. I checked the GFCI and it had tripped and would not reset. Checked the breaker in the house and it had tripped. Reset that and then reset the GFCI. The light on the GFCI glowed red so I assumed all was well. But there was no power getting to the spa from the 125v cord, so assumed the GFCI was toast. I replaced the GFCI, tested and confirmed it worked properly. There now is power getting to the main bus on the heater board in the equipment bay, but still no display on the Control Panel. No power from the main bus to the main board either. So I assume that the heater board & possibly Control Panel are toast. But I still have the leak to trace. I’ve pulled off most of the back boards and a few of the side boards. Found some soggy foam and kept digging but all led to dry foam. I can see water pooling in the back corner, but have not yet been able to follow it to the source. Tomorrow I will add some food coloring and be back to digging. The water is still leaking, however the level is dropping verrrrry slowly now- maybe 1 inch over the past 10 days. I’m assuming that’s because the circ pump is no longer working. But maybe not. If the food coloring doesn;t help to find the source, I'll likely drain and try to raise the tub so I can attack it from underneath. My plan is to keep trying to find the leak(s) and get that repaired first. Assuming that’s successful, the next steps are a bit of a mystery. So here are my questions: 1. Any hints on how to better track down a leak or is it just tedious trial and error? 2. Is there a logical way to test the Heater & Main Boards to confirm either is fried or not? 3. Is there a way to test the Control panel to determine if it needs to be replaced? 4. Are there things to check prior to replacing either Board &/ or Panel to ensure they don’t self-destruct again? i.e. what might have caused one or both to fry? 5. Can I bypass the board and energize the circulation pump to get some pressure into the system to help track down the leak(s) 6. Is there a better way to try to salvage this tub than what has been outlined above? It's been a great tub and I'd replace it with the same if we weren't planning to move in the next 2-3 years. Anyone want to weigh in with some suggestions and tell me I'm wasting my time?
  5. When purchasing a new cover, is the local dealer my only option for original hot springs cover? Will I sacrifice quality by going to an online dealer?
  6. Hello, I have a 2012 Hot Springs Jet Setter Model JJ SN JJ1P2197 that has a safety protection mode on. The water level is okay. The filters are okay. I have removed the stand pipe filter and mineral tablet out of it. It originally had a bad IQ2020 main board. The old part number was a Watkins PN 1315101. I ordered a new control board for it (watkins 76998). The circulation pump kicked on at first flipping the breaker then stopped after a few seconds. The controller panel only works with some functions. No jet pumps or circulation pump. No heater. I took a new plunger to the water return to get any air locks out. There is a red light on the board that has control unplugged beside the light that is red. The lim light is on solid with a green glow. The BUS status light is blinking green about every 5-7 seconds. Any help would be appreciated.
  7. Hi I have a 2000 hotsprings jetsetter model j that I'm attempting to repair. So far I replaced the heater circulation pump which got the hot tub working after 2 or 3 years of sitting for about 5 days after which it started to blow the gfci plug. I ohm'd the heater and it reads 10.8 ohms. When I reset the gfci it starts up Until it hits the heater and trips. With the heater unplugged it operated normally. What could cause the problem in the heater if the resistance is In spec?
  8. I am a newbie to this forum AND a first time hot tub owner. Recently bought a house that included a HotSpring Jetsetter. Prior owner signed a paper that said it was in fine working order - but it was not (but that is not the issue!). Actually it is in spectacularly good condition (the prior owners were fuss-buckets), and while I don't know the year exactly - it is pre-2005 because in 2006 Watkins changed the dimensions and ours is the smaller pre-2005 size. The problem is that it is leaking, badly (like 3 inches a day). I have traced the leak to the bottom drain since it will drain completely empty except for a minimal amount in the drain well in the bottom of the hot tub. I unscrewed the drain cover and looked in-don't see any obvious cracks. There is no leakage at all in the control panel/machinery compartment nor from the two external drain caps. Looking underneath (barely possible, BTW) it seems to be dripping from the bottom around where the spa floor drain is. It is a bit smelly (smells likes a sweaty horse!). I am definitely a "do it yourselfer type person" - but of course I know the tub would have to be jacked up and foam dug out to pinpoint the exact leak and fix. The QUESTION is - where can I find a plumbing diagram for a HotSpring Jetsetter so I know what is beneath the drain in regards to replacement parts? The guy at the HotSpring store said it was a manifold that sprouts a bunch of tubes like an octopus - and that if the prior owner did not properly winterize - those manifolds crack. I can find no reference to the part nor any diagrams that shows how the bottom drain is plumbed. Any advice? Yes, I already tried fix-a-leak - which slowed the leak DRAMATICALLY, but did not fully fix. I wish I could buy a new hot tub - but I have other more pressing repairs with the new (old) house, so I can't spend a fortune. HALP!!!! Thanks so much.
  9. First off, hello everyone. i have a late 90's Jetsetter (J-1511684) with a bad leak. I have checked the seals on the pumps and lines and have a dry equipment compartment. As you can see in the photos, the insulation packing above the lens is soaked and dripping constantly. I know many of these tubs have issues with the lens leaking but the water is much higer, it has swelled all the packing above the lens. Is it possible that the water has leaked out somewhere lower and saturated the packing enough that it has swollen above the leak? If I let it go it will finally stop losing water about 1/4 way down the last jet on the tub. Any ideas would be helpful, Ted
  10. i am looking at a used Hot Springs Jetsetter tub, and the owner says it is running 220V. I was previously under the impression that these were convertible tubs - were there any of this model that were 220V only? I asked the seller and they didn't know, so I thought I would see if anyone here might have an answer. If it is indeed a convertible, but they only used it as a 220V tub, would I need anything in addition to the tub to run it as a 110V tub somwhere else?
  11. Looking at a used 2003 Hotsprings Prodigy for $3500 vs new 2012 Jetsetter or Limelight for almost double that ($6600/$6000). All are from a reputable dealer. The used Prodigy was (reportedly) well taken care of; owner traded for new smaller HS tub when moving from large home to a townhome. It comes with 1 year warranty. I'd like a 7 - 10 year life for the tub. Thoughts?
  12. I'm purchasing my first hot tub. I've researched for awhile and based on size desired, dealer availability and cost have narrowed down to the Marquis Spirit or the HotSprings Jetsetter. Both of these are 3/4 person tubs, which is all I need. - I've wet-tested the Spirit and like it. I've found posts here and elsewhere about the Jetsetter but haven't wet-tested yet. Though I haven't wet-tested both yet, comments lead me to believe the jets on the Spirit are more what I'm looking for - there are low-back jets and leg jets on the Spirit, which the Jetsetter doesn't have. - I've read that I should look for a tub with a circulation pump, which the Jetsetter does have; the Spirit has "one HP120 dual speed, 120GPM jet pump and "ConstantClean in-line sanitation system". (Is this the same thing?) - The Spirit has 1 filter; the Jetsetter has 3. Is more better, as far as filters go? - The Jetsetter has an optional ACE Salt Water Sanitizing System. Would this be worth the extra cost? - I've checked both dealers on BBB and neither appears red-flagged. Though I don't particularly care for the car dealer-type hounding, I've been discouraged by the lack of pursuit by either dealer. We've discussed price and availability at the Marquis dealer, but I have to contact them for any update or follow-up. The Hotsprings dealer has never requested contact information, though I've visited twice. Just seems a bit weird. If they don't care about the business, how is the customer service after the sale? - I checked at Tradecertified to see if the dealers were listed as "Certified" Spa Dealers and/or "Certified" Spa Service providers. Only the HotSprings dealer was listed as "Certified" as a dealer; neither was listed as certified spa service. Should I be concerned about this? Especially since there were no dealers listed as certified spa service? What am I missing? Can someone give me any tips on making the final decision? Any pros/cons to Marquis vs HotSprings as far as the manufacturers standing behind their products? Thanks!
