  1. Hello! I'm looking at a 2018 Pulse and a 2018 Grandee. The Pulse is $8,995 and the Grandee is $11,895. I'm looking for opinions on both models and if the prices are fair. Both include stairs, cover and lifts. What do you love about the Pulse or Grandee? We're pretty torn at the moment so any insight would be helpful. Thank you!
  2. Hi, Curious, it worked well until I turned off stereo amp unit. Then it stopped and just the recirculating pump is on. No more display. I shutoff the breaker ad shut it back, it seems ton restart, display panel turn on and turnoff after a few seconds. Is there a link between the audio unit and the main control other than power supply?
  3. I have a 2003 Hot Spring Grandee. I refilled it about a month ago, ran fine, all lights solid. Went on vacation for a week, come back and have no lights on and the 20 amp breaker immediately trips if I try to turn it back on. The 30 amp breaker is fine. I think this is for the heater, but even with just the 30 amp on, it's not heating and no lights light on the tub. Any suggestions for a fix. I called a technician but they won't be out until Nov. 22nd, and at this point, in Detroit, temps are going down into the 20's the next couple of nights. How fast do hot tub lines freeze? I'm afraid I'm going to have more problems because of the temps.
  4. 2001 Hot Springs Grandee in near perfect condition used daily. Again, tube is in excellent condition. Has been used daily since new. Have replaced normal stuff over years to include circ pump, main pump impellors, jets, etc... Recently main heater 30AMP GCFI has started tripping after hours or days. I cannot tell you exact circumstances that trip the GCFI. It seems always to happen when tub is open and jets are turned on (requiring heating mode). I have replaced IN ORDER : 30AMP GCFI , HEATING ELEMENT , HEATER PCB CONTROL BOARD This is a standard HOT SPRING setup so has subpanel with a 30AMP GCFI breaker for the heater and a 20AMP GCFI breaker for the tube pumps/control board. I have NOT used a meter to measure AMP draw of the heater yet. Just seems hard to believe new heater is bad. AND, of course, maybe new GCFI is bad also. ?!?! The tub acts normally when first turned on. Without running jets, the tub will heat up to EXAMPLE 102 within hours. But after several days heater GFI will be tripped. OR.... if you run tub jets with top open, GFI will trip. ALSO.... circulation pump appears normal and filters clean. I have the side "water-fall" option that lets you see the recirc pump water flow. Also, I do not get the HI-LIMIT flashing light and tub shut-down if recirc pump is low flow. QUESTION: I DO NOT FEEL the high heat flow out of the bottom vent of the tub like normal when you have jets running. Is the heater in these tubs ONE heat mode ? Off / ON. Or is there a HI / LOW mode? APPRECIATE THOUGHTS.
  5. I have a new 2017 Grandee on the way and it is coming with the ACE saltwater system as part of their promotion. I have read of issues with this system but most were older maybe when this first came out. How are the newer versions holding up? Is it worth the effort or would I be better off with another option? Thanks.
  6. Hi, New to the forum and have a question for you all. My hot tub trips the 20 Amp GFCI when I turn the pumps on sporradically. Most typically noted on jets 2, and if they do come on then I turn them off and back on it will trip. Once on they run strong for 30 + minutes. So, powering on pump 1, then pump 2, may work fine, however if I turn pump 2 off it trips the breaker when I turn it back on. I disconnected pump 2 from the IQ2020 and pump one had noe problems. My best guess is its the capacitor, but newb to hot tubs. The hotsprings store said that you cannot buy a capacitor alone, and would need to buy a motor. They also offered to come check it out for a $200 service call. Any advice would be appreciated!
  7. I have a 2005 Hotspring Grandee Model G . I have just serviced the spa replacing the filters ( tri-x) with new ones. Before draining the spa the green light was blinking on the front exterior panel and the water was not coming up to temperature, and so I thought it might be water flow restriction-- although the circ. pump works fine as does the ozone unit. When I turned the spa back on the green light would not light at all, and the no fault heater still would not work. I tested the power feed to the heater relay board and it was receiving electricity fine. Before I order a replacement heater, can anyone tell me if this symptom means something else is broken- like the heater relay board ..etc.? Something else I can test. I did test the heater with an ohm meter and it seemed ok, but I have little experience with this.
  8. We are newbies with hot tubs and have a new Hot Springs Grandee. Have had it for 3 months. The green "logo" light recurs on blinking errors. We have cleaned the filters (which were pristine). We check the diagnostics screen and it will first show as in the yellow. Then we turn off the tub, wait, and turn back on. Then the same screen shows all in the green. A few hours later, we have to do it all over again. Manual chemical test strips show everything where it should be. Any suggestions as to what the issue is?
  9. Greetings all, I ordered my HS spa 3 weeks ago and was assured by the dealer that it would only take 3-4 weeks to receive my (paid in full) spa. I was just notified yesterday that I would have to wait another two-3 weeks until delivery. I've noticed other posts in this and other spa forums concerning this same issue with Hotsprings. What's going on and why?!? Does anyone have any Idea?!? Thanks Much CJ
  10. My Hot Springs Grandee was installed new in 1996 and other than the occasional fix-it visit by a spa technician, it's been working like a champ for 16 years. This past week we went to use it and found that the water was only around 95 degrees instead of its normal 103. Everything else looks completely normal. Both the red and green lights on the main panel are on, the temperature indicator says 103, pumps all work fine. I drained the spa, cleaned the filters, refilled, and turned everything back on. It heated right up to about 95 degrees and won't get any hotter. One noticeable difference is that the heater return, which normally puts out significant hot water (along with little bubbles) when the thermostat is tripped, now has a pretty anemic flow. The technician we usually use here in Northern California is booked up for two weeks and we have guests arriving this weekend. Is there a possible simple fix I'm missing, or do I just wait for the technician? Thanks.
  11. After many hours of research on this site and "the other" spa site, wet testing HS Grandee, Sundance Optima, Caldera Salena and D1 Chairman, talking to 8 different dealers, we purchased a D1 Nautilus today (our first hot tub) as it fit us both best with its' his and her corner seats. I'm 6'3", she's 5'7" and found the same seats in the Chairman to fit us best of the 4 tubs we wet tested. All dealers are different and must say we were most satisfied with these particular HS and D1 dealers with their long years selling their brands and professional selling skills. The tub is available now but the deck and tub pad must be built. I hope to be soaking before Halloween, just in time for the long, cold and white winters here in NH. Thanks to all for their contributions to this site that ultimately helped us with our decision. I'm sure i will be back to this site many more times researching water care advice.
  12. I have started a new thread, so I apologize if I have duplicated what I have said in other threads, but here is the problem: After turning on the breakers at the sub-panel, with or without jets running, the unit shuts down and the ready light flashes on the main display panel. This happens with and without filters. The breaker doesn't trip, but the only way to restart the spa is to turn the breaker off and back on again. There is a slight hum coming from the circ pump. I dont' know if this is normal, but a small stream of water shoots back into the filter compartment, so I'm not sure if this is from the ozonator or an overflow of the circ pump. We had a technician look at it (when it was wired wrong) but he couldn't figure out why it wouldn't heat. He thought it was wired wrong but my husband kept insisting that there are only supposed to be 3 wires hooked up, so that didn't help the technician (especially since my husband was wrong). Without the heater hooked up, the jets run fine and everything seems to be working (except the heater, since it wasn't wired). I don't know if you can normally see water coming out of the heater return/drain, but we don't see anything, and as mentioned before, the only movement we can see is in the filter compartment (even when jets aren't running). We have hard water, and based on what was mentioned in another thread, the sizzling in the heater sounds like there is little or no flow. This is what the technician did: Took off one end of the pump to see if there was an air lock, none, then checked the opposite end of the heater for an air lock, and again none. He opened both drains, nothing there either. He checked the suction where the grey standpipe is, and there is suction there, so does that mean the pump is working? Also, he checked the voltage of the heater (none because it was wired wrong), and he also took off the heater relay board to see if anything was fried behind it. We also put a plastic bag over the drain but nothing, so my guess is a blockage. I will call him back, to check the suggestions made by PreservedSwine, but wonder if there's something that I can do in the meantime. Note that after he left, I put a garden hose down the grey standpipe in case there was an air lock somewhere else and nothing happened, the spa still shuts off after about 30 seconds. Thanks.
  13. Hi everyone: We just moved a hot tub, ran new wires, filled it up and thought it was working fine, until it didn't heat up. I have been reading posts online about what to do and I am completely lost. One thread I read says to press the red reset button on the heater but I can't find one. Also, the electrician isn't completely sure if it's hooked up correctly because what is in the panel doesn't exactly match what's in the manual and the cover of the panel is a little confusing. All jets as well as the light work. There are also lights on the circuit board. The power light is green and the heater light is red (nothing is flashing). We cleaned the filters, the weir gate is working fine, and the circulation pump seems to be working as there is a slight vibration on it and on the heater. The water just doesn't seem to be moving around in the tub. When it first had power, some cloudy water poured out of the drain and it seemed to be circulating. What can I try to narrow down what the problem is? I have a picture but don't know how to paste it on here. If this helps, there are 3 wires coming out of the deck, black wire is hot and is in #2, red wire is hot and is in #4, and blue wire is neutral and is in #5...is this right? Note that this spa is in Canada so I think the wire colours are slightly different for hot and neutral. I am extremely clueless when it comes to this spa so I would really appreciate anyone's help!! Thank you.
  14. Hello, This is my first post in this board. First, let me I apologize for the long post ahead. I was hoping I coulde get some feedback on these spas: Caldera Cantabria, Sundance Optima, J470 and HS Grandee My wife and I have wet tested the Sundance Cameo (dealer didn't have the Optima) , Jacuzzi J470 and Hotspring Aria (dealer didn't have the Grandee filled) Wet Test Results: Sundance Cameo: My wife liked the lounger but found difficult to stay on the other seats ... they pushed her out so she was in akward position trying to anchor her in place. Jets were nice but one area where the jet is weak is for the lower back. Found the spa quite noisy compared to the others. The Clearray water system doesn't seem to reduce the chemical smells as much as we had hoped (perhaps water was not properly balanced???) * Since we would preffer the Optima for extra seating ... our concern is the foot jets will be a lot weaker than on the cameo ... is this true? Jacuzzi J470: We loved the lower back massage, and a couple other seats but found the foot jets a little underpowered .... and when the diverter was in neutral ... the performance in general was tamed. This unit was a 2011 with no clearray installed and the chemical odour was pretty strong. - Tub looks nice, controller is modern, Hotspring Aria: My wife found the seats unconfortable and couldnt really 'stay put' ... not footwell to anchor herself (just like it would be on the grandee. She wasn't impressed by the motto massage ... (I kinda of liked it a little but wasn't blown away by it)... other jets were just ok The unit didnt have the ACE system but the water was nice .... if we buy hotspring we would definitely get ACE since we both are sensitive to chem odours. - On the plus side... water system - Didn't like that you couldnt manually turn off jets like on sundance and jacuzzi by twisting them. As far as the Dealers go: Sundance/Jacuzzi ... same dealer whose been in business here for over 30 years Hotsprings... a long time business who is new to hotspring but has great reputation locally Here is my problem, from all the tubs I have looked or wet tested, the one that both my wife and I agree would be the perfect layout and size for us is the Caldera Cantabria. Problem is there is no Caldera Dealer in town .... but the Hotspring dealer says he could bring one in if we comitt to buy it. obviously this means no wet test. The Sundance dealer says he can bring an Optima in but we have to pay for it upfront and if we don't like it we can get the jacuzzy J470 or Cameo but no refund. What do you guys know about the Caldera Cantabria ... how does its water filtration system and energy efficiency compare to the the others? ACE VS Clearray? Any experience out there? What to do? - By the way their prices are about the same: $11000 - $11500 canadian (cover, lift, etc... no stereo) - Yes, a lounger would be nice but not at the cost of space (cameo) ... would like to seat 7 or 8 Any Advice would help.
