  1. Has anyone had any problems with their spa pillows on 2016 Bullfrog Spa. We purchased our brand new and everything was fine until this spring when we noticed bubbling occurring on the majority of the spa pillows. When I contacted Bullfrog they said it is not under warranty and that the cause was from the pillow being in the "Gas Zone". OK Where else is the spa pillow supposed to be if not in the "Gas Zone". We use quality chemicals from Leisure Time and we have never over chlorinated our spa. So I am stuck with buying new Spa pillows after 1 years worth of use and I have no knowledge as to what to do from stopping it from happening again. So hopefully someone knows how to rebuild or recoat the old Spa Pillow. Please let me know your thoughts.
  2. I have had a Bullfrog A6L for a few months now. Have a few questions for fellow Bullfrog owners. 1) The pump seems to run very often, and is quite loud. Is this normal? Is this a setting thing? Could this be an insulation thing? I am in NC so it is relatively warm. 2) I have the 2nd pump option. However, the pressure of the 2nd pump in 2 of the jetpacks is way stronger than the other 2 jetpacks. For those who have 2 pumps, have you had the same experience? Thoughts? Experiences?
  3. I joined the forum back in 2014 when I was shopping hot tubs. I ended up going with the Bullfrog A8L and I have been extremely pleased with it. I have had the tub for 2 years now and have used it literally hundreds of times, so I thought I would share my experiences with prospective new hot tub owners. The A8L has been a real joy for me. I have not experienced a single quality problem or failure on it in the 2 years I have had it - no leaks, breaks, cracks, things falling off, etc. It has been a very low maintenance product and has been a real blessing to me for easing various aches and pains. My dealer and the Bullfrog folks have been great to work with in answering questions both before and after purchase. I have not had any repairs or troubleshooting under warranty so I cannot speak to their performance in such manners, but the way I have been treated thus far is at the very least quite encouraging. Like any product, the Bullfrog has some quirks / features that could stand improvement. I will list the bad with the good throughout. During the purchasing phase, I looked at dozens of tubs and did endless research. Due to dealer proximity, ratings, and features I pretty quickly narrowed my selection down to Bullfrog (A8 series), Hot Springs (Aria and Envoy NXT) and Jacuzzi (J365/385). It was quite a drive to the Jacuzzi dealer and I was not impressed with their facility and maintenance staff, so I eliminated them first. The Hot Springs dealers did not have an NXT tub for me to look at or try out, so I narrowed my choice to the Aria. In the end I found the Aria and the A8L to both be quite acceptable for my needs, but I ended up going with the Bullfrog due to design features and a more favorable dealer experience. It has been an excellent choice thus far. (Continued)
  4. I replaced the main board or guts in my hot tub. Now I have a code showing that is lC do not know what that is if anyone can help. my hot tub is heating up but going over the temp that I have set. Also one of my pumps does not want to click on, it did when I first finished changing the stuff but now it won’t. Please help
  5. We are in the midst of researching hot tubs. We found a 'scratch & dent' 6 person tub at a Royal Spa that fits us well but is $9,950. We both really liked that the sales person was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and not salesy. And they are only half hour from our house in case we need to have service. However, we then discovered Bullfrog. After sitting in the A7 (not a wet test, at that time) my husband felt that it was the most comfortable (he's 6'2") and there was plenty leg room, which is a struggle with most tubs for him. We don't really need one that large so I called the closest place to us (that's an hour and fifteen minutes from our house) and that is having a sale & got quoted on an A6 at $8,500. For the $1000 price savings I would DEFINITELY prefer the Bullfrog. HOWEVER, two things I wanted to ask. I noticed that the Bullfrog only offers a 1yr warranty on its ozonator and the replacement cost is around $600!!! Yikes. Does anyone know WHY these things go out so frequently? Also, I read that some think you don't need it if you don't mind using more chemicals. How much should I expect to be spending on chemicals IF the ozonator is actually working vs is not working? Secondly, am I getting in bed with the wrong dealer here by choosing someone who is 1hr 15min from my house? The dealer said they WILL service the tub but they also want to charge me $250 for delivery since it's so far. Hm. Gives me a bit of a pause. Would really love to know your thoughts & opinions! If the quality & reliability of the tub is truly amazing then maybe the distance of the dealer for servicing is not a big deal and I should just take that risk to have a Cadillac of the industry? In my research, it seem that they are the only manufacturer who includes labor as part of the warranty coverage so that gives me a little bit more comfort. However, I have not inquired yet whether they would charge me for labor like they are for delivery...I'm planning to do that when I go in person to do a wet test in a couple days. So, PLEASE share your thoughts on & experiences with Bullfrog Spas. MUCH THANKS!!!
  6. my 7yr old Bullfrog is tripping again. About 2wks ago we were in the tub for about 2hrs and the gfi tripped. Although we replace the GFI last year, I figured that was the easiest fix. When it happened again after using it for about the same time I decided to replace the heating element (which I replaced 2yrs ago). The tub runs fine, standard mode. But last night, after 2hrs of use, my tub is trippen again! I don't know where to go from here, without spending a butt-load of cash calling "the man". FYI: I also replaced the pump 1.5 yrs ago. HELP PLEASE!?
  7. Newbie buying advice needed. We live in Minnesota and looking to purchase our first hot tub. Brands we're looking at are Dimension One, Bullfrog, Sundance, Cal spas, Hot springs, maybe Marquis (based on some good suggestions I've seen in these forums). So far we've wet tested Hot Springs and Dimension One. Looked at Sundance (no wet test). Like the vibe of our local Dimension One dealer - they seem like nice, regular guys - no rehearsed hard-sell pitch. And they've been around awhile. We're leaning toward a 7 - 8' open seating tub. We're "wee folk" (all definitely under 6 foot) with two 15 year old boys. We're finding that tubs with a raised center foot area help us stay in our seats better. Also, some of the seats have upper back jets that are a bit too wide for our compact frames - the narrower jet placement seems to be more effective. The D1 Nautilus seems like a nice fit for an 8 footer, but only one seat has upper back jets narrow enough for my wife. The Nautique (7 foot model) looks to have narrower upper back jets and the bonus of four of the adjustable quad-jet neck pillows. Haven't wet tested that yet, but our concern might be that a 7 foot tub get a little crowded for more than 4 people (but maybe that's ok - we're a family of four so if we have guests, take turns). We'll probably try to arrange a wet test. We did wet test the Nautilus, but except for one seat, the upper back jets were placed a little wide. Also wet tested the Meridian, but really missed having the raised center foot area - felt like we were floating away a lot of the time. We haven't done any negotiating, but Nautique pricing out of the gate from our dealer is $8,900 for a 2014 model loaded with lights, water feature and stereo, or $9,800 for a 2015 model with lights and water feature but no stereo. Neither include cover or lift pricing. Do those seem like reasonable prices? Water feature and stereo are not something we'd pay extra for, but if it's a good price for an existing model... Any advice from others out there, especially folks of "smaller stature". We haven't looked at Bullfrog yet, but the interchangeable jetpacks seem like they'd really provide the ability to customize that jet placement, but I assume that comes with a cost attached. Thanks!
  8. So, we had a wind storm that destroyed out HT enough for the insurance company to allow us to get a new one. We had a Hot Springs Vanguard. Good Spa, five years old. New replacement cost $14700. So we have that amount to play with for a new toy. Was going to look at Marquis, but the local dealer has none to wet test, NIX. Wet tested a Caldera Cantabria. Was ok, nothing to write home about. Tested Bullfrog A7. Really like the concept of changing packs. Only problem is the dealer has only sold BF spas since Nov 2013. He has been in biz as a commercial pool guy for 6 years. They have sold about 10 in 10 months of business. I believe this is the second BF dealer in the Houston Area. Houston is not a huge HT town because most people have what they think is a spa in their swimming pool but I won't ramble...... The A8 falls well within the insurance payout budget. Concerns are the purification system (ozonator), filtration is not 24 hr continuous, and will the parts within a jet pack wear out if they have moving parts. The plastic of the jet packs seems a little frail but I may be way off base. We really did like the jets that we tried and love to be able to customize. Our Sundance dealer only had an Altamar and a lesser series set up that we didn't try. Liked the Altamar but much smaller than we wanted. Liked all aspects of the spa. Jets were not as good as the BF IMHO. Do like the waterfalls and rambling brook feature that the waterfall can be converted to, and I like the sanitation system plus UV. Sundance seems a great brand also and the dealer is willing to take my damaged but working spa off my hands and give me a few bucks for it. The Optima fell in the $12,500 range with piston lifter, steps, delivery, chemical kit, electrical hookup and stereo. Or we could get the Aspen or Maxxus for about $500 above(out of pocket) what the insurance will allow. We have space for a tub that size. Dealer has been in biz in Houston area a long time 20 plus years. So torn between Maxxus, Aspen, Optima and BullFrog A8 Thank all in advance,
  9. Greetings - this is my first post on the forum but I have been reading the forum frequently for the last month or so. It has been very useful, thanks so much to all of you experienced folks who take the time to post such good info. I have been doing a lot of research and dealer visits and so far my favorites are the Bullfrog A8L and the Hot Springs Envoy. I have been quoted about $13K for the A8L, the Envoy quote is harder to pin down and seems to vary between about $12.5K and $14.5K depending on phase of moon and whether dealer is in "special sale this week!" mode. What are good prices on these tubs? I'm trying to figure out what I should aim for. Trying to find pricing information from actual owners has been tough, particularly on the NXT models. There are still no user reviews for the NXT tubs on the Hot Springs site either, have any of you actually purchased one - if so how do you like it? I am going to visit another city next week that happens to have a Jacuzzi dealer so I will check them out as well. I have visited a number of other spa dealers and while most of the products I have seen appear to be pretty decent, the dealer salesmen left much to be desired. Is there a tub model any of you could recommend that has a set of jets in the wall specifically for "stand up" therapy of hips and legs? Are ozonators really safe? I have been trying to get a straight answer on whether the ozone is hazardous to human skin, very interested in this answer as my hide has already accumulated more than enough damage from lifelong UV exposure - must avoid any extra damage...
  10. Hello and thank you in advance for your help. We are purchasing a new hot tub - not our first, but the first time we've purchased ourselves. We are trying to stay under $7000. Powerful jets are my number one concern because I use the tub for serious therapy. I've been looking so far at Caldera - the Vacanza Series, Vanto ($6500 quote), fits our budget but I'm a bit concerned about power and its warranty. The Bullfrog is intriguing - I realize I'll never buy new jetpacks, but it is nice to start with a customized tub (I have a $7500 quote on the R6) I'm hoping to go look at the Dimension One tubs tomorrow but I have no idea if any are in my price range. I had thought the Costco Evolution and/or Divine series tubs looked good, but after reading some posts here I'm not so sure. One local company sells Riviera Spas - haven't been there yet. Also, we need to have at least one side at 84" or less due to space restrictions. Being a small-sized family (all under 5'4") a lounger is probably useless for us - I know our last Caldera spa lounger went unused. Any suggestions/ comments are much appreciated.
  11. Hi everyone, I've seen lots of great answers here so I'm looking forward to getting some knowledgeable help. I'm looking at a 2008 floor model bullfrog 552ss. It's got the circulation pump, cover, and ozonator as well. It's been sitting in the showroom since 2008. Does $8700 sound like a good price? BTW, it comes with the full warranty. thanks in advance, Jeremey
