  1. I just drained my Hotspring hot tub last night & turned it on, but it was late & I didn't add anything to the tub, except city water. This morning, the tub was at temperature, but when I opened the tub to add salt, the console was displaying the message "High Salt". Testing the water of course shows no salt. I drained the tub when it displayed the high salt message, figuring it was about time -- even though there had been little if any evaporation, but it was about time. (I did test the salt before & it was in the 1200 range. I also took a water sample to a spa place & they said it was 1400.) Help?
  2. I have a four year old Grandee and am on on my second ACE cell. The first was replaced as defective with the warranty. This second cell has had similar problems but no longer covered by warranty. I would like to just get rid of the cell and convert it to a regular tub using my ozonator (already installed) and a mineral stick like Nature 2 (plus chlorine). Can I simply disconnect the ACE system myself. I would just remove the cell and cord unplugging from the cords that lead to the control box. Is there anything wrong with doing this myself? (Obviously with power off, etc.). Thanks.
  3. I have a 3 year old Hot Spring Vanguard with the ACE salt system. I bought this when the ACE salt system was a fairly new product to the market - my dealer did not hook my ozonator as they said it was not needed with the ACE salt system. Within the first year, Hot Spring corporate came out and said 'Yes" to hooking up the ozonator with the ACE system. So have I enjoyed my tub with utilizing the ozonator. Over the weekend, while changing my water, I noticed the ozonator was not working and/or producing the bubbles from the bottom of the tub. This happend once prior and my salesman told me to unhook the plasctic hose going into the bottom of the ozonator and rehook up - this will remove any air from the hose and it should start working fine. This worked fine the first time I tried it but this time when I went to unhook the hose, the metal fitting/nipple that the hose attaches to broke into pieces. After inspecting my hose - I had a bunch of white build up material (chalky - if thats even a word) in approx 4 inches of my tubing. I cut my tubing to remove the build up but need to fix the nipple. I called my local dealer and they are thinking that I cannot replace this metal fitting as this is attached to the ozonator - I would have to replace the entire ozonator. He then told me that with the ACE salt system - I would be fine to operate WITHOUT the ozonator. I am thinking this is the way I will go as I do not want to spend $450 on an ozonator if it is not needed. So - my questions are: -Do i need the ozonator with the salt system? -If yes, do I need to buy the entire ozonator of can I replace the fitting/nipple? -I did not unhook my ozonator last night - will I burn it up if the hose in not hooked up for 24 hours (until I get home tonight)? -how do you unhook the ozonator - just a plug? Thanks for your help! Tubber
  4. Hey everyone, So I've been doing a good deal of research on a new spa purchase. I know I want a larger tub, that is preferably deeper(I'm a larger fella, tall and heavy, but not huge). A big plus for me in a tub is easy maintenance, with lower to no odor, and minimal skin irritation. I'd like something my girlfriend and myself can stretch out in, but also that will accommodate several people for when we have parties. I intend to build a Sauna in close-ish vicinity to the tub, not that this is all that relevant, but I'm assuming you guys and gals have more experience with this, so who knows, perhaps it's a point to be made. Anyhow, build quality and energy consumption are huge selling points for me, as I'd like a tub that is low maintenance, durable in southern Michigan winters, won't cost me a ton to maintain in both price and time, and will cause me less hassle in the long run. I know that a good relationship with a dealer is extremely important, so that aside, assuming they all give equal service, what are your thought on Models, and brands I should be looking at, methods for getting the best price, and filtration and sanitization methods and add-ons for these models, to make maintenance as easy and cost effective as possible. Also, are there any brands that simply just blow the competition out of the water in terms of any of these specifics? Thanks for your input, and try not to make this a soap box for disdain.
  5. Hello! On Thursday we have had our first startup of our new Envoy! So long everything is working fine and ok. Water reached 38 celsius = 100 F. Regarding the water guidlines we are not really sure about the right values. We are using the ACE system whereas the manual tells that the hardness should be 25-75 ppm, optimal 50 ppm. (Whithout ACE the main manual tells 100 to 150). Our water from the pipe has 300 ppm .... With the vanishing act we reduced to 75 ppm. - ok But some homepages and suppliers of hottubs recommend that the hardness of water should be minimum 200 or better between 250 and 400 to avoid corrosion of the pool parts. Can you explain me such statements and why there is a so huge difference? Am I destroying my hottub with such a low hardness? Tx for replys! Gernot
