I've been having the same problem with a gunite/pebble tech pool - I'm losing tile directly below the concrete deck - there is a fine crack behind the tile and sand is coming out. Was the pool built incorrectly ?

We have a white residue that is on 5 or 10 spots of our new pool below the tile. Does anyone know what this white residue is from. This is on a brand new pool in the North East US - after the cover was removed. Could there be some waterproofing behind the tile that is missing ?

Last fall we had a pool installed in Massachusetts - (painful process) - the pool is pebble tec with tile at the top. The water level was lowered for the winter - when we took the cover off - we have large white scale that has leached out of the tile grout. Also in some places the grout has also failed. Any idea how this happened - was the wrong type of grout used ? I believe this is called efflorescence. any help would be great
