  1. For those interested... Tucson is still having high temperatures around 106-110 daily. I have been opening the spa cover half way, from maybe 3PM to 7PM. Temperature tonight was 96, which I thought was a good summer spa temperature.
  2. Thanks Cusser! We are just down the road in Tucson, and you provided "real world" information.
  3. I thought about removing the cover, but it is buggy around here. And rodents - my neighbor puts out buckets of water to trap and drown pack rats. Despite the heat, I have still been using the spa. After a cold shower and a brisk walk around the air-conditioned house, the spa still feels good. I am spending probably 10-15 minutes soaking, compared to the 30-60 minutes when the outside air was cooler. I put the spa in "economy" mode yesterday, and the spa temp is 101 this morning. We will see what the day brings. Either way, it is better than not having one!
  4. Thanks! I suspected that was the case.
  5. We have a 2006 Jacuzzi J-355, and other than my question, it seems to be functioning properly. It is our first summer of ownership. I understand that the water temperature can be hotter than the spa temperature setting due to ambient summer temperature, and from the scavenged heat from the pumps running. Weather here has been around 106 daily. Lows in the low 80s, and The temperature SETTING is around 90, and the water temperature is 103. The spa is mostly shaded from sun. Is the high ambient temperature the reason my water temperature won't drop?
  6. Wow! Great information. Thanks for that, and what you do around here for others. So it sounds like if any light comes on, the functions on the main controller board are probably OK. If the lights do not operate properly, it could be caused by a failed LED in the waterfall, a failed LED or circuitry in the footwell light, or both - caused by a waterfall fail. The place to start is the waterfall light, and it is MUCH more than "changing a lightbulb."
  7. This issue is pretty far down the list of the things I need in life, but it interests me. I can't get the light to operate according to instructions. The spa came to us a few months ago, so I don't know what has been done to it in the past. The controller board is Jacuzzi. When I press the light button on the topside controller panel, the light comes on purplish, most but not all times. Sometimes it stays on, sometimes it goes out after a brief time. When I press the button, the indicator on the panel "lights." When I press again, it goes off and the light goes off. I cannot find any button dance that activated the other light options. The board has two connections, red and black, that go to the light behind the controller box. Then there is a phone cable that apparently goes to the waterfall light. I gently tried to remove the light fixture behind the controller box, but it seems solid. (I know some models it simply pulls off.) Any insights?
  8. In Arizona three weeks ago, we bought a 2006 J-355 for $3500. The tub looks new, the skirting has some small scuffs. A couple of the air controls need replacing - I don't think the seller had noticed. New ozonator, everything else working properly. New cover. Step and cover mechanism included. All questions answered competently and with a smile. We first went to a local used spa shop, and the offerings were pretty ugly. Dirty, scratched and with missing parts, empty and leaning on the walls of a small strip store, apparently no power. The guy we bought from had six up and running spas in his yard - I would have been delighted to get any one of them. He includes a modest warranty with the purchase, but we were offered a discount instead because we live in a different city. We were INVITED to call him with any future questions or concerns. BTW, we found that a crane was cheaper than a spa moving company to get the spa from our trailer to its slab.
