  1. Hello everyone. I'm in the process of purchasing a hot tub and I'm trying to figure out the best option for a foundation. I have an existing patio that was put in by the previous owners of the home and I'm going to need to extend/modify it to accommodate the hot tub. I have a few different options that I'm looking for opinions on. I've attached some pictures of the current patio as well as a terrible rendering of a potential layout (ignore the textures/colors, I'm using a free app). I'm currently relocating the AC unit to the side of the house and will be removing the existing bushes there for extra space. Option 1: Extend pavers and place the hot tub directly on top. Potential Issues Matching existing pavers. Pavers are relatively weathered so will certainly be noticable. There's a border around the existing pavers that will need to be removed or dealt with (not sure what is made of but it's hard like cement) Worried about potential uneven pavers over time. I've had to repair a couple of of uneven bricks in the past. Also worried that it won't be completely flat. Option 2: Extend pavers and place an EZPad on top. This may alleviate the concern from above about the potential of uneven bricks and provide an even surface all the way across. Potential Issues Still need to worry about matching issues Still need to address the existing border around the pavers. Option 3: Partially cut into the existing pavers and pour a concrete slab Potential Issues Still need to partially extend existing pavers so the shaping of the patio isn't completely off Unsure of how cutting into the existing pavers would structurally affect the rest of the pavers Likely more expensive, and harder to find a contractor who is willing to take on such a small job. Option 4: Partially cut into existing pavers and place a gravel/crushed rock foundation. Could also place an EZ pad on top of this. Likely cheaper than concrete. Potential Issues Still need to partially extend existing pavers so the shaping of the patio isn't completely off Unsure of how cutting into the existing pavers would structurally affect the rest of the pavers Any thoughts on the options I've laid out so far or anything else I may not be thinking of?
