  1. Hi I have a Hydropool 495 and it has a Pioneer H20 Genesis system which generates bromine. Or rather it did. I dewinterized the tub this week and flipped the switch when it was 3/4 full and it seemed to work fine but when I checked on it five minutes later it had drained and there was water everywhere. Turns out the electrolyte chamber broke apart. I started looking for a replacement and found it's about US$140 just for the electrodes and I need the entire assembly as you can see. A complete system replacement seems to be about US$400. Then I found out these are now banned in Canada because our federal health agency is worried about sodium bromide gases.....and this are not available here....so lots more shipping costs. My plan is to remove it and then connect the two lines, the clear 3/4 line and the black 1 inch line. I have also unplugged the power line to the controlling unit at the spa pack and removed the dual plug cable which put the signal on the same line as the two stage power pump (XP2). I can slip a 3/4 nipple into the clear line, then slip the clear line into the black 1 inch line, all components glued with blue. Then I'll slip a ring clamp over the joint to compress it down...the nipple will provide the resistance so the clear line doesn't collapse. I'll also turn off the valve on the black line. There is no shut off on the clear line which feeds back into the tub (if I left it un connected it would drain the tub immediately.) Any one see any red flags on this strategy? Anyone got experience with these Bromine Generators? This is my third hot tub and first time with this kind of system. I really have no issues maintaining the water quality the old fashioned way with tablets and test strips....it's a small tub (four person) so draining it isn't that big a deal either. Feedback and input appreciated.
