  1. I was going to respond in the PM you sent and forgot. (typical for my to......... look, a squirrel) I love the idea and the product. I can't believe it took until now for someone to come up with the idea. It will be a great tool in areas that get into freezing.
  2. Why did you resurrect a 11 year old thread? If you are having a problem, please start your own thread. In it, Please fully describe your problem and include pictures of your spa's control board with the dip switches (if present) the wiring diagram which is usually found on the inside of the cover of the control box and of your equipment area. Doing all this will ensure the people here will see it and assist.
  3. Normal PCV gluing techniques are used. You can test the heater by doing a resistance check. Your heating element should read between 12-16 ohms
  4. Bad advice. The bottom of the tub needs to be fully supported when full of water. Shims will not fully support the tub with the weight of water in it. Using the methods that @CanadianSpaTech described will allow one to level the tub and keep the bottom sully supported.
  5. Any 220V 1/4hp motor will work. You might need to adapt the inlet or outlet for your plumbing. If necessary, use a 1/2 hp pump.
  6. Post up the wiring diagram and a picture of the terminal strip where the incoming power is connected.
  7. Sounds like the low voltage power supply is acting up. It's new so let the dealer handle it. I know it sucks. It happens, that's why you have a warranty.
  8. A Catalina Quebec or a Catalina Spa in general? The Quebec has been discontinued for a while. It was probably in the $10-12K range when new. Now, Catalina Spa's are $12-20K and honestly, not worth it. They are made in Johnson City TN by Leisure Products, Inc. (LPI). These tubs are on the low end of construction quality and are sold thru Aqua Living stores, which specialize in high pressure sales tactics. Aqua Living has no in house technical staff, no service techs and trying to get LPI warranty support is a joke. For $20K. I want a self supporting shell, a quality dealer with factory training and a manufacturer who honors their warranty without making the owner go thru hoops.
  9. Please start a new thread. In it post pictures of the control board and the wiring diagram usually found on the inside of the cover.
  10. WOW. Somehow , I doubt he will be back to comment.
  11. My pad is also not level but it is perfectly flat. It's not off much though. If it's like cusser's tub, you are fine. I'm off about the same, it's not an issue.
  12. Leisure Products Inc (LPI) is the manufacturer of Dr. Wellness, Hudson Bay, Pinnacle, Signature and a couple of other hot tubs and bought Catalina a few years ago. Aqua Living is the retail arm (franchised) and sells Dr. Wellness, Hudson Bay and Catalina. They are made in Johnson City, TN but as others have noted, they buy the cheapest materials, use a 1x3 (non treated) stapled frame and the shell is cradle supported and one of the thinnest shells around. Unfortunately, you learned the hard way on LPI's quality and lack of responsibility in warranting their product. I'm very sorry that you are having this experience.
  13. Please start your own thread. Explain your problem fully and post up pictures of the spa pack, the wiring diagram that is usually found on the inside of the cover. the topside control and the equipment area.
  14. Sounds like you have a pump issue. Disconnect the heater and all the pumps and any lights. Turn on the tub and see if the breaker holds. If it does, start connecting things back up one at a time. You will have found the problem when you trip the breaker after reconnecting the offending part.
  15. That's glue. It's not your issue. If you verified that you have no power to the heater when it's calling for heat, it's probably the heater relays.
  16. Post up a picture of the label on the pump. It wouldn't hurt to post up pictures of your spa pack PCB and the wiring diagram on the inside of the front cover.
  17. The only problem is you don't know for sure if any of it works. Is the topside controller included with the rest of the parts. It's not a bad deal.
  18. I suspect the previous owner tapped into one leg for an accessory 120V outlet.
  19. Run the filter cycle for 2 hours twice a day. The circ pump is fine. Energy saver mode when set to on will only heat the water during the filter cycle. Vacation mode varies from manufacturer to manufacturer but normally, the set temp is lowered about 15 degrees to save money.
  20. It should not be asbestos. That has not been used in over 30 years. The entire tub should be supported, fire brick should be ok if you have enough of it. Try it without the insulation, I doubt you need it. Tubs these days do not have insulated heaters.
  21. What @CanadianSpaTech said. Replace all the relays. The heater and pump relays all have the same wear on them, they will fail sooner than later.
  22. When did you last do a water change? When the readings get wacky, it's time to change the water out.
