  1. The circuit board repair guy just got back to me and said that the board is working fine on his bench. His topside was not doing the erratic lighting thing like mine was. He suggest that I have a bad topside, and I feel like I agree with that at this point. I'm just not sure why this new topside would go bad so quickly. I suppose I spend another $250 and replace the topside again and hope for the best.
  2. I posted this in the wrong section, but I can't figure out how to delete it. 🙄 I need to replace my main drain cover with a compliant one. I'm not sure how to identify the correct size that will work for me. Do I measure the overall diameter and the screw holes, or is there a more generic way it can be identified? I'm also missing the screws for it, so I'll need to get those too. I'm hoping that a compliant cover will not only be safer, but help me with my automatic vacuum getting stuck on it all the time. Thanks!
  3. I've stepped away from this for a while to take care of some other stuff, but now I'm thinking about it again. I found a place I can mail the board to in AZ (I'm in SoCal) and they will check it out and repair it if its possible for around $200. Beats the cost of a new one, and if its not the board, I can pretty much conclude that there are some serious problems with this thing that I just don't want to deal with.
  4. Yes, I did use grease when I installed it. I did make sure I was only contacting the inner race when I was pressing it down on the shaft. I will try pulling it off and reinstalling it, trying to make sure it is nice a square.
  5. I've just recently replaced the bearings in my pool pump motor. Now that I have the motor is making a high pitched whining noise. The old bearings had gone bad and were making a whining/squealing noise, and this isn't quite the same. Is my new bearing bad, or noisy for some reason? Could there be some vibration in the housing that is causing this? Before the old bearings went out, it was a very quite motor. I'd like to have it that way again. I'm replacing the impeller right now, so I have the motor taken apart. I've linked a video of showing the motor running and the sound its making. Thanks for any help!
  6. Nothing appears to be wet. The topside is a sealed unit, unless something happened that has allowed water in. All of the pumps engage, and it is filtering. I've disconnected the OZ, since that was tripping the breaker. The heater is not engaging however.
  7. Okay, I'll do that. No browning in my pool, but lots of ash settling to the bottom. I just wanted to make sure it was the ash affecting the chemistry and not some other issue that I wasn't aware of. I'll have to backwash the filter as soon as I get a chance. My automatic vacuum has been doing a decent job at getting it out, but I've been manually vacuuming every weekend.
  8. I'm guessing that something has gone wrong on the board in relation to the topside. It could also be the topside itself, however I just installed that new about 3 months ago. I've been trying to find some sort of troubleshooting guide for the topside aside from the user manual, but I've had no luck. This behavior should be symptomatic of something diagnosable I would guess.
  9. I live in SoCal and there is a ton of ash getting in my pool from the wildfires right now. I'm having to put about a gallon of chlorine in a day. Is this a normal affect of ash in the pool? Does the ash use up the chlorine?
  10. I left the breaker off all day, just flipped it back on and its doing the same thing. It never got wet as far as I remember.
  11. This is true. I have a flat main drain cover. I've looked into this before, but I don't really know how to pick the right retrofit cover for my setup. I suppose I could just bring in the cover to my local pool store.
  12. I don't know what the heck is going on now. The heater does not appear to be heating. It has power at the board and the unit itself, and now the topside is going crazy flashing all over the place. Resetting the breaker does nothing. I'm overwhelmed at this point. It's been working just fine until this issue popped up.
  13. My automatic pool vacuum gets stuck on the main drain constantly. It only works under supervision. I've tried the clip thing and that didn't work. What can I do?
  14. Okay, I was mistaken. I mislabeled the plugs to the cpu when I first messing with this thing. It is not the circ that is tripping the breaker, it is the OZ unit. Attached is a picture. Is this something that can be troubleshot and repaired, or does it need to be replaced? Also, is it okay to run the spa without the OZ?
  15. Oh, gotcha. Sorry. That will take me a bit to get to, but I'll work on that.
  16. Here you go. The pink CP plug on the bottom left is the one that if I plug in, the breaker trips. If left out, it does not trip.
  17. I disconnected the OZ and the Circ, then plugged in the OZ and nothing happened. Then I plugged in the circ and it tripped. I unplugged the circ the OZ and disconnected the heater (P20 & P21), then plugged back in the OZ, nothing, then the circ an then it tripped. I think its definitely something to do with the circ pump, just not sure what, or where to start looking. Thanks for the help again!
  18. Hello Again, My LA Spas HEET has been working great for the last couple of months. I've been keeping it running with the temp set at 84, and today I turned it up to 101 because its started cooling off and my wife wanted to get in tonight. About two hours after I turned up the heat the breaker tripped. I happened to be in earshot when this happened. Flipping it back on only saw the breaker trip again about two seconds later. After doing a little bit of troubleshooting I found that If I unplug the circulation pump from the board, the breaker does not trip. I checked the fuse and that is still good. My guess is there is a ground short somewhere, but I don't really know where to start looking. Anyone have some insight on what my next step might be? Thanks!
  19. Okay, now this all makes sense. So this board will only work with either the TSC 44 or 19. Since I have 3 pumps, that means that only the TSC 44 will work. I'll have to return the K35 and order the right one. This should solve everything once and for all.
  20. Okay, I follow you. The schematic shows what the jumper settings are supposed to do. Is that going to be different now that I have an aftermarket topside? I guess its going to be a matter of trial and error to see if I can get the right configuration? I really appreciate the help by the way. Thanks very much.
  21. Thanks for the response. Here are the pictures of the board and the new topside controller. I don't see any dip switches anywhere. Is it on the board?
  22. So, I just got the new controller in. I plugged it in and it works, with a couple of issues. One, which I don't mind too much about, is that the functions of the buttons do not match the label on the graphic. No big deal. However, there is no button that sets the temperature down. I can turn on all the jets, and the lights, and I can adjust the temp up, but I cannot set the temp down. Not sure what I can do about this.
  23. Okay, cool. I ordered it. I'll let you know how it works out.
  24. Any idea if the one linked below will work? Mine has three pumps, a light and up and down buttons. This one is the same instead of pump 3, it has a blower button. Would that still function correctly? https://spacare.com/TSC-35GeckoTopsideControlBDLTSC35GE1.aspx
  25. Ya, I figured that would be the case. Bummer, but oh well. I got the thing for free so I cant really complain. I may reach out to see if the controller I pick out will work, since I will probably look into another Gecko controller and they dont have the same shape as the LA Spas one. Thanks for the insight!
