Solana TX applies high and low speed pump at power up
CanadianSpaTech replied to Dwest01's topic in Portable Hot Tubs & Spas
The light staying on has nothing to do with a stuck relay and my 26 years (and 2 weeks...lol) keeps telling me the topside buttons are F'D...like every other Hot Spot Spa... but I'm just guessing... like I have been for... 26 years and 2 weeks 😬 What year is the spa? @castletonia Do you know what year the topside builder went out of biz...2012? -
Solana TX applies high and low speed pump at power up
CanadianSpaTech replied to Dwest01's topic in Portable Hot Tubs & Spas
@RDspaguy here is what I understand about Hot Spot Spas... I've had 3 Hotspot spas this year (flip tubs) and everyone I ended up swapping out the pack and topside... 2 because of the shitty topsides that are no longer available and you have to swap the pack anyway and the 3rd I didn't even bother diagnosing I just swapped it all out so it didn't come back at me and to save the customer the inevitable heartache down the road. Fortunately I have used packs and topsides ready and waiting. The first 2 I swapped out with Gecko Sclass packs and the 3rd with a balboa. Next.. So you plug in and it starts in hi then you can press the topside pump button and it will switch to low and work as it should...low speed and heater working? Could the pump wires for low speed and high speed be mistakenly switched around? Have you replaced the pump recently? -

2009 ThermoSpas Concord assistance
CanadianSpaTech replied to zlj2011's topic in Portable Hot Tubs & Spas
You have 2 components plugged into the pack...pump 1 (orange) and pump 2 (purple). No blower Looks like pump 2 on the right and pump 1 is in behind the pack but need to see a photo of the white tag on the pumps to know if single speed or 2 speed. Is the pump behind the pack the same physical size as the pump on the right? -

Dyansty Spa so most likely a Gecko in.xe or XM pack but post the photos to be sure. -
Dynasty spa continuously runs pump 1 low speed
CanadianSpaTech replied to Cory_bell's topic in Portable Hot Tubs & Spas
Find a new repair service. The stuck low speed relay is sending power constantly to the low speed then when you hit it into hi speed that low speed power is still there and now you get the pack sending power to both low and high speed at once which causes a LOUD hard Buzz then trips out the pump. You need an electronics repair company/person to replace all the relays on the board. Relays are fairly cheap. If you take the pack to them then you should be between $150/$300 depending where you are located and who is doing the work. Where are you located? -
I DO NOT know how Caldera runs their system plumbing but if you look at the attached photo you will see a spring loaded one way check valve that opens when the blower is on and closes when off to prevent water from getting to the blower. Common fail point. It works...water gets past check valve and it trips breaker then dries out and works again and a spa sitting 10 years the check valve spring might not be as springy as it once was.

heating element Tuff Spas Model # TS650 - Trouble Shooting
CanadianSpaTech replied to kwrohde's topic in Portable Hot Tubs & Spas
You have one of 2 problems. 1) Bad heater element. Disconnect the heater element from the circuit board following the attached directions. Lift the copper tabs up so they won't touch anything. When you power the spa back up let it run through it's normal start up and wait until the heat indicator light stops flickering and goes solid then test the copper tabs for 120V using a multi meter. If you get 120V replace the heater element... Or the GFCI plug is weak and failing. -

Copper heater jumper strap corroded
CanadianSpaTech replied to Ariel01's topic in Portable Hot Tubs & Spas
There is a small rubber o-ring that sits on the element on the inside of the heater tube and gets pulled up against the chrome tube to form a seal when the large nuts get tightened. When you install the new element make sure these don't fall off. Number 7 below... -

CanadianSpaTech replied to Ronlq's topic in Portable Hot Tubs & Spas
When you power on it should start in low speed. You say it only runs in High speed...is that because you push the button to go to high or is it starting in high speed? It's a beachcomber is there a small circulation pump? Post photos as @RDspaguy asked. -
Removing clips and hose without breaking them
CanadianSpaTech replied to noah's topic in Portable Hot Tubs & Spas
When you cut it it will be 1.5" shorter but often there is enough slack in the hose that you don't need an extension piece. It is 3/4" clear hose and the air line is 3/8" -
Removing clips and hose without breaking them
CanadianSpaTech replied to noah's topic in Portable Hot Tubs & Spas
I use plyers or channel locks to squeeze the clips together and remove. The Hose I cut as close to the jet body as possible if you think there is enough hose to re attach to the new jet body but you might end up short if there is not enough hose available. In that case you will need to add in a line coupler and an extra piece of hose. Just cut both hoses close to the Jet body and remove the jet body. Don't even worry about the clips unless they are in the way. Take them off once the jet is out. -
