  1. I have read countless postings about this problem, but I have not been able to solve it. I have a spa that is higher than the pool with a spillover into the pool. When I turn off the pool pump, the spa level lowers about 4-5" overnight. I am confident that water is not leaking outside the system because the pool level has been constant for weeks. If I leave the system in spa-mode and turn off the pump overnight, the spa level remains constant. That suggests the problem lies with the pool side plumbing (suction or return). I have a 3-way diverter valve on the suction side. One input is from the spa; one input is from the pool (there are actually two pipes from the pool, but they join before entering the diverter valve). I tried replacing the o-rings in that diverter valve and even tried replacing the diverter inside the valve. No difference. The spa level still lowers overnight. It so happens that the two pipes from the pool have their own manual valves on them, so after I shut off the pump in pool-mode, I closed those valves. I figured this would prevent water flowing from the spa suction pipe back down the pool suction pipes. With that configuration, the spa level still lowered overnight. So then I focused on the return side. There is another 3-way diverter valve with one exit going to the pool and the other going to the spa. In pool-mode, that valve is split 50-50 between the pool and spa so that the spa water level will rise and spill over into the pool. I replaced the o-rings in that diverter valve. I didn't replace the diverter itself because it seems to close properly in spa-mode and is naturally open (50-50) in pool-mode. There is no check valve on the spa return line. This has been the same for 20 years without this spa-draining problem, so I don't think the root problem has anything to do with a missing check valve. I also have a Polaris cleaner with its own booster pump. There is no sign of water leakage with that assembly, so I wouldn't think the cleaner or booster would be a factor. But I don't really know. I'm stumped as to what to try next. I can call a professional, but I really would like to have some idea of the remaining possibilities so I don't spend money watching someone else scratch their head and be stumped. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
