  1. Hello all. Bear with me as I am trying to figure out my folks spa. I have repaired a few of my own over the years and they just started having problems with theirs. here’s what I know - Dad complained of it not heating good heats to 79 degrees and no further all fuses look good swapped out the heating element for them after mom ordered a new one based on the spa shop recommendations. 240v at the leads coming in, 18-20v at the heater leads when the heat is active Guessing the bird needs rebuild? Something else I should look at? Board is: balboa MXBP501X PN 56549-01 (01-28-14) configured in setting #6 Thanks in advance
  2. Well, the darndest thing... Woke up this morning, flipped the 20amp breaker and wouldnt you know it.... Red light on, no blinking, flipped the 30 amp and started heating like it should. I guess the stern talking to last night put the fear of god into it. All fixed....somehow?....
  3. Howdy all, new guy to this forum here as i appreciate the tech tips and advice that these forums have given me over the years on a variety of topics. So now i come here to seek your humble opinions. We have had a jetsetter in the past and a few other tubs that have required repairs which i have done myself so i am not too unfamiliar with electricity as i have wired all the 220 in the past and done all the tub wiring and repairs needed. i just picked up a 2008 jetsetter (jj2k158) which was basically given to me as the previous owner stated the water would not heat and they didnt want to pay for a repair. The tub had been kept inside its whole life, looks great, jets functioning and powers up, both red and green flashing, the pressure switch had been jumped at some time in the past. We brought it home and i got to work on it in my shop. Replaced the heater relay board as there was an obvious burn on the board. Replaced the heater. Replaced a few hoses as they were worn. 3 Brand new filters. New heater plugged back in to pressure switch as i saw no reason to jump it as the switch would be new. 220 wired to 50amp main and it came with the spa wired to sub panel with, 20amp and 30 amp. Filled it with water, saw a few airlock bubbles in the tubes, further forced water into the grey filter tube and the bubbles were eliminated. Turned on the 20amp at the sub panel and the circulation pump comes on and is moving water, ozone bubbles appear. Circulation pump works well with and without filter in place. Jets come on with depression of jets button and everything appears working at both 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock position except moto massage (which i will deal with, or not, someother time) 10 seconds into flipping the 20 amp, both green and red appear again blinking. Reset the power, they come back on. Attempt to further dislodge any airlock x 10 minutes more of plunging and hose down the tube, still there after reset. I feel i have adequately cleared any airlock at this time. So toss some thoughts at me here. What am i missing? Could i still have some airlocked portion in the heater or??? Was thinking of bypassing the pressure switch again just to check that??
