  1. I was incorrect about the relay board being bad - but the main logic board was bad. Replaced that and got life and control back! And discovered that - The pressure switch in the heater is bad, so the heater won't detect flow and turn on. One of the jet pumps has a bad seal on the impeller, leaks when running. Fortunately only when running. For some history, the tub is about 8 years old. Got dirty, needs a cleaning for sure. But I'm a bit shocked at how not using it for a few months led to all of these other issues. I suppose it was just that old, didn't take much to tip it over. The big replacement items are: Heater Jet pump 2 (assuming that impeller gasket is non serviceable) On the smaller side, the ozone generator is most likely past due. Salt cell has plenty of anode (or cathode?) left, just gunked up. A chlorine dip should clean it up nicely. My plan is to drain it, fill, and drain again just to give it a good flush. Then load up the parts cannon and start firing.
  2. I can do that later this morning, I have a tech coming to help me diagnose. I plan on doing the repair. I should have titled this that the relay on the control board is what I suspect. The wiring is the same it has always been, I was very careful to replace the breaker one wire at a time so everything got rewired 1 to 1, and the breaker is exactly the same part number as before. I just recently read about the unplug the display and the recirc pump should fire trick, I plan on suggesting having that tried this morning with the tech.
  3. Hi All I have a hot springs limelight pulse. The sub panel feeding the 220 to the unit is a GE setup, I dont think my local reseller even uses GE anymore. From what I can tell online they have a rep for being mediocre at best. I live in a monsoon area, so we do get some power outages once a year. Anytime the power dropped to the house it would usually throw the 30 amp 3 pole breaker. So with this spa and in that box there is a 30 amp and a 20 amp. I believe the 20amp is for the heater, 30 for everything else. The 30 was not testing out properly so I replaced that. Seemed like the center of the 3 poles wasnt pushing power when it was on. Got that replaced, confirmed all power present where it's plugged into the control board on the tub - but still no boot. If I jog the breaker, basically turning the tub on or off - nothing. No lights of any sort. I'm thinking that the primary power relay is bad. Since a new control board looks to be a $700 adventure, I'm thinking about buying a new relay and replacing/resoldering that piece. Is there any other component on the board I should be checking? Right now there is no obvious sign of component burnout on the board itself, at least on the frontside. I have not yet taken it out for a full proper inspection. Just curious what you guys know to look at. I do have experience replacing components on boards and soldering, and the components should be cheap enough to warrant a try on it.
  4. Just wanted to reply and post what has, at least temporarily, fixed all of my problems. This is slightly embarrassing. New filter. The old one looked okay but was going on 2+ years. Dealer said it was probably gummed up with oil and causing the pumps to work harder than they liked. Just to placate them and heck why not if it works - picked up a brand new filter. No tripping whatsoever now, and to top it off - the ace system came right back up and was happy. Go figure. I kind of look at some of the dealer/manufacturer maintenance schedules with a grain of salt, in that they usually want to you to buy more product and do more cleaning than is reasonable. But in this case yup, that fixed it. Just posting this in case someone finds it and is helped by the information. Thanks to everyone that posted in here as well.
  5. Just noticed another new behavior tonight while using the tub - did not engage the jets at all, just sitting there and the lights suddenly go off. Look at the panel and the tub was rebooting itself. It did come back in normal mode, not in protection mode. Heater and recirc pump was definitely on. No error codes or warnings. Just spontaneous reboot, wasn't working with the controls at all when it happened. Now I'm starting to suspect a control board is going out. Not great for a 2.5 year old tub! I'll be calling dealer for a warranty service tomorrow. If there's anything that new event points to feel free to let me know.
  6. My cover tag took over a year before it started dissolving. If you empty yours, no water to dissolve the tag - might make that take longer. Worth checking. Let us know what you find, I would be curious to hear.
  7. Thanks Castletonia. The odd thing is the jets will run fine, it only trips after you shut them off. I figure if it was a reduction issue they would falter at startup, yet they don't. But I'll check the things you listed above just to see. Thanks again!
  8. I had this! Maybe. The tag on the cover, when closed it hangs in the water. Takes about 10 months but it starts to dissolve! I complained to my local dealer who had no idea what it was until I figured it out and then said "oh yeah that." Yeesh. Check to see if it's the tag, it sounds exactly like what I had.
  9. Hi all We own a Hot Springs Limelight Pulse, purchased new in August of 2016. A few weeks ago it started producing some sort of electrical failure, but only after usage. It does look like we're covered under a 5 year warranty per our included paperwork but I still wanted to ask the collective here what this might be so I can point the techs in the right direction. How this presents - after using the tub, and having the jets on for about 10-15 minutes, turning the jets off makes the system go into the old red screen/protection mode. Heater, pumps, everything shuts down, about 10-15 seconds after the jets are turned off. Resetting the breakers in the sub panel will reboot the tub and correct the issue, of course until the next usage when this will happen again. It never trips or has any other problems caused by anything else. But this issue is 100% reproducable, nothing intermittent about it. Other details on the spa - it does have everything. Ozone generator, ACE system and there's a silver ion cartridge rattling around in it. Wired w 220v. Yes the filter looks okay. The only other possible issue is that the ACE cell has been testing out super low as if not enough salt is in the system, even though no recent water change. I need to chase that issue down as well, just noting that here in case it's related. I've just been adding extra chlorine in the meantime. Everything else seems fine and it's been running perfectly until just the past few weeks. We keep it at 103 degrees. Don't know if there could be any other relevent details, but feel free to ask me to provide anything else. I can't imagine water chemistry could play a role here but if you want me to test it out, happy to. Again this has run for the past 2.5 years without any issue, it really is a great tub. For the price it should be! Any ideas let me know. Thanks everyone!
