  1. I recently bought a Vita Spa Envie to replace a Thermospa of unknown age. We love the upgrade, but have one problem. The new tub has a built in GFI test function. You can either run it on demand, or it will run within the first week after power up. Well, the test fails, and I am wondering if the breaker/wiring to the hot tub has anything to do with it, or do I need to call the dealer. When it fails, it goes into some sort of standby mode (no pumps, no heat, displaying an error) that requires the breaker to be reset, even though it hasn't tripped. I did not have an electrician hook up the new spa, I labeled and disconnect the old one, and reconnected the new one myself. I figured its 4 wires, can't be too hard. The set up has a 2pole 50amp GFI breaker in the panel. The wire goes outside into a conduit which pops up under the deck where there is some sort of disconnect box, then back into underground conduit down to the spa itself. The disconnect box is not another breaker, it just a metal "plug" that you pull out. I did some searching for how to wire a hot tub, and mostly what I see is a standard 50A breaker in the main panel, and the GFI breaker in a sub-panel outside closer to the tub itself, which is different from what I have. I do not know if this affects the GFI test that the spa is trying to run?? Is the GFI breaker too far away from the hot tub? Is the disconnect plug that I have somehow blocking the test signal from getting back tot he breaker? or is the hot tub GFI test circuitry not working properly? I previously had a GFI breaker that went to the garage go bad on me. It just kept tripping, so I replaced it, and have had no problems since then. So I thought maybe this 50A breaker for a the hot tub might be bad, So I ordered a new one and replaced it, but the spa GFI test still fails. Any tips/tricks/advice?
