  1. Found this while searching around recently. It is definitely an older model, but wasn't sure if it was worth the gamble: https://boise.craigslist.org/hab/d/weiser-dimension-one-little-dipper-hot/7346171307.html
  2. Agreed on the dealer. The guy I am looking at with Garden Spas (Artesian) has pretty high reviews so I am leaning that direction.
  3. Agreed. I know I am in for the long haul with just about any option I pick. On the bright side it gives me time to really narrow down the best option for me. Used would literally require me to take a month off of work just to watch the postings like a hawk and have a professional tub moving service on standby to ensure I don't miss out on what I want.
  4. I agree. I was just pointing out it's jets aren't as powerful or have a moto-message type feature on the Garden Spas. To me though that is a small price to pay for nearly $3K saved by the time you factor in the cover lifter etc. that my Artesian dealer offers. The waiting will be arguably the biggest sacrifice as I will be months out on it.
  5. Yup, seen them. There was one that popped up today on Craigslist but it was gone before I could even call on it. Shame too as at just shy of $1K it would've been worth it even for a rotomold. As for the Hotspring Highlife, I didn't even ask but it wouldn't surprise me if it was a $9-$10K tub given the insane materials shortage that is going on right now.
  6. Yup, the more and more I think about it, I am leaning towards getting one of the entry level garden spas. It's no Hot Springs TX or XS (runs about $6900 new for the TX from my local dealer) but the odds of me lining up a solid used tub that is plug and play, fits within a 79 inch platform, is filled so I can see it in action, a decent price and lining up a moving company to get it in (has to fit through a 36 doorway and I don't have the equipment or knowledge to do it without damage) within a short turnaround seems like a real longshot at best.
  7. The only downside is that I basically have to pre-order and wait until near the end of the year to get it (due to the shortage). Truth be told though I really don't mind as long as I get a decent tub and good quality service. I imagine just about any decent tub would be a significant upgrade over my current inflatable. I have been looking at the used market for the last few weeks and everything is overpriced (even worse it's selling at overpriced). A 2018 Aquaterra (aka Costco Rotomold tub) just went for $2500 within 3 days and that was one of the better deals: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/221950262787318/?ref=search&referral_code=marketplace_search&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A7452d5aa-e3ed-42cb-8a06-6779ccecd80b
  8. Actually I have a local dealer that I just found who can get me into a Garden Spa Iris (entry level Artesian Spa) for $4500 with cover and cover lifter, steps, delivery, etc. This is the tub in question: https://thegardenspas.com/models/iris/
  9. Oh and FYI that is an actual concrete hot tub pad that it is built on top of. Unfortunately the pad has developed a slope to it over nearly 30 years so the only cost effective solution was to build a wood leveling platform on top of it for the inflatable. Hence my desire to stick with a small plug and play tub as the others are too big and would require a spendy rewiring job to boot. That and most of the time it's just me in the tub (occasionally my 3 young kids go in for about 30 minutes but that's pretty much it).
  10. PNW Region of the USA. 120 only as I had a plug specifically wired for a 120 tub last year. I could get an electrician to convert it to 220 I suppose but to me it seems a waste. My problem is two-fold in that most tubs that pop up are the standard 6-8 person 220 jobs which don't work with my plug or the 79 inch leveling platform that I have in a 10X7 screen room. I currently have an inflatable tub in there but am looking to get out from under a lot of the maintenance that they require and give the bubble/air jets a miss. If you want a clearer picture of the layout I have, I did this video here which includes both the leveling platform (which I already expanded from the original 72 inches it was) and the new fitted plug that I use now:
  11. Thanks for the input guys. I will steer clear of them then. I know that all makes and models have their bumps so I figured it didn't hurt to ask.
  12. I have a local guy who sources scratch and dent and refurb tubs and he periodically gets these in as part of his shipment. The limited info I have found on them seems to be mixed (similar to the mixed reviews I see on Tuff Spas), so was just curious if anyone had any experience with them here so I can either give them a complete miss or consider them as an option since I am on very tight funds (about $3K max) and have very limited space (needs to fit on a 79 inch square leveling platform). The used market in my area thus far has nothing but junk such as overpriced inflatables or big old 220 jobs that would cost a fortune to move, fix, and wouldn't fit anyways. These are the tubs in question: https://hudsonbayspas.com/product-category/spas/
  13. I have a fair number of brands available locally for the full fledged brands (ie Marquis, Caldera, Hot Springs, Arctic Spas, Cal Spas, Jacuzzi) but they are all out of my price range in terms of new (although I haven't asked any if they have any used tubs in stock). I do have a local guy that is a refurb/scratch and dent deal hunter who is great at sourcing them at a good price, but he usually only has them for a few days and it takes him a few months to source them at a time. Kicking myself for not picking up that Oval Tub he had posted for $2500 delivered but my best option might be just to be diligent and watch his page for the next sale. https://www.facebook.com/daveshottubs
  14. Thank You. I checked into the Aventine and the price was insane ($8900 new delivered with steps and some free chemicals). Even with material shortages I just feel I could do much better for the money. Still not sure if it's worth having this guy for $2600 new and then hiring a moving company to put it where it belongs: https://aquarestoutlet.com/product/premium-150-4-person-plug-and-play-with-12-stainless-jets-ozone-and-led-waterfall-by-aquarest-spas
  15. Just to add, any experience with the Freeflow tubs? I'm looking at this model: https://www.freeflowspas.com/collections/3-500-4-500/products/cascina
  16. I had wondered how they were affected by this. Not any real surprise as the story is the same with each hobby I am in right now. The only benefit I can see is that I do have a local guy who specializes in refurbs who gets periodic shipments in and some great deals. I will be visiting several show rooms this weekend though to get more info on pricing and delivery.
  17. Thanks for the feedback. The TX does look like a very nice tub, but I would imagine it is also well out of my price range unless I find a really good deal on a used/recertified tub. Would I be correct in assuming that fall is the most favorable time of year to buy a tub in terms of pricing?
  18. Keep in mind I will probably have to go the used/recertified route with these but I was just curious if anyone had any experience with these tubs? Most of the time it's just me in the tub and I don't have the budget or space for anything much larger so that is why I am looking at these models. I did consider Aquarest, Lifesmart, etc. but need delivery direct to a screen room that I have built for one, so curbside delivery doesn't work for me and I have heard complaints about their rough finish feeling like sand paper. So I was just curious if anyone had any feedback on the two tubs mentioned or something that would be comparably sized and priced (tub needs to be able to fit on a 79 inch square platform).
  19. I know some folks use Baqua Spa in inflatables as an alternative here in the US (Clarion Spa would be the Europe/UK Equivalent). https://www.amazon.com/s?k=Baqua+Spa&ref=nb_sb_noss_2
  20. A lot of times this is caused by direct sun and the tub being a bit over inflated. As the direct sun hits it it expands. The tub walls should be a little bit squishy ideally. Does the tub get a lot of direct sun?
  21. A plastic kid's Vitamin Container Holder and 2 Zip Ties. Here it is:
  22. Submersible heater wouldn't be the way to go as they are much harder to regulate for a hot tub based application and would also likely burn the tub material itself (I say this as someone who owns an inflatable tub and a saltwater and freshwater aquarium with submersible heaters). They are also very prone to failure. As for the tub itself these are actually manufactured by a company called Costway (they also make tubs for the british label Cleverspa) and unfortunately the Costway pumps are prone to pre-mature failure. You can try seeing if you can find the replacement heaters from the site but right now there is a world wide backorder on pretty much anything inflatable by any manufacturer(popularity has skyrocketed due to world events and people not being able to get out as much as they would like). If all else fails you could look into Lay-Z-Spa (All of them are made by a company called Bestway), Intex or MSpa. The best deal stateside right now is the Coleman (Bestway) Lay Z Spa Havana at Walmart. It's not a big tub (2 adults and a few small kids at most) but it is a decent model and runs $350 currently which makes it the only reasonably priced inflatable in the US right now (all the others are $600 plus IF you can find them in stock). They are out of stock online, but if you put in your location you can sometimes find them in stock at your local walmarts (it's how myself and several others have found them). Here is a review of mine for those who are interested:
  23. Got my first power bill in today since setting up the new tub. I tried to cover the variables such as rate per kWh in my area, what the weather was like in my area during the month, running the hot tub the whole time, spa blanket, etc. Obviously there are lots of variables but I hope it helps since it's a question that seems to be asked by lots of people:
