  1. Hi everyone, I'm brand new to this forum and in need of some assistance. I have an older Tiger River Sumatran that is having jet pump issues. The pump is 120v and tripping the GFCI. I removed the pump, disconnected the heating element leads then plugged it back in and the GFCI didn't trip (I previously disconnected the heating elements and the GFCI still tripped to determine it isn't the heating element). After I removed the pump and motor assembly I bench tested it and saw right away that the motor is dragging a bit and smoking thus I'm pretty confident that the motor is the issue. In my research of replacement motors and pumps I've come across a myriad of options out there with a wide range in pricing. My thought is all I need is a new motor which can be had for around $120 whereas a new motor and pump assembly goes as high as $550. I'm thinking that once Watkins attaches their pump the price goes ski high. That said, I'd like to remove the pump assembly and just reattach it to a replacement motor but I can't get the pump off the motor shaft. Does anyone know how the do this? Is it threaded on (opposite rotation?) or is it glued on? The motor/pump is a wavemaster 5000 with a 1.5hp motor. It has supposedly been replaced with a 1.65hp motor but I've also seen the 1.5hp still for sale. Thanks in advance. I'm sure I'll be back in need of more assistance as this unit is always giving me trouble.
