  1. It’s not currently connected to power. The owner said that after a storm water got into the wiring to the tub. Since I can’t test it I have to assume at worst case it would need a new spa pack. But the tub is >$400 so even if I had to put another $1000 for a spa pack it’s still a pretty good deal. But these forums are filled with questions on used hot tub “deals”. I was hoping that their were certain brands to look for that used circulation pumps versus the pump and spa pack. But it sounds like it’s going to be a bit more difficult as some brands do both methods??
  2. We live in Houston TX so not too worried about the level of insulation as other parts may need. The spray insulation foam ended up being the reason we sold the Hot Springs. So I would prefer not to deal with that again. I’m leaning towards buying a used tub and feel comfortable doing any repairs myself. Our problem is the location of the hot tub which is about 10’ from our bed. After I sold the HS Envoy I bought a new Sun Belt HT. It was nice but only after 2-3 days we realized that their was no way we could listen to the droning wawawa noise that the pump made to circulate and heat the water. The only option to change the filter schedule was the start time. Which was to run for 2hrs every 12hrs. Plus the time to maintain temp. The tub sits on our covered patio in between our living room and bed room. I found a deal on a 2011 Morgan Spa that was pretty nice. But it didn’t have a circ pump.
  3. We’re looking for a new tub but I can’t figure out what brands use a circulation pump to heat and filter?? Verses a pump spa pack to do the same?? Can a circulation pump be added to a tub that uses a spa pack?? We use to have a Hot Springs and really liked that equipment setup but are unwilling to pay $10k+ for a foam sealed tub that no one wants to work on once out of warranty. Even then our “local” HS dealer didn’t impress me with their customer service. Any in sight would be appreciated!! Thx
  4. I've pulled the side panels from the tub following the wet foam back trying to identify where the leak is coming from. My question what method do you think I should use? 1. go with the pour UV dye into the water and use a UV/black flash light to trace the leak. 2. I have also seen a dye product in a syringe where you inject dye towards the jet in question and see if dye gets pulled into that jet. I would think the problem with #2 their are many jets that are linked together. I leaning towards the UV method.
  5. I have very little experience with tubs but not in hardware. I have ran into similar problems threading dry plastics into dry threads. If they threads on both ends look good I would want to add some sort of lube to the threads and the O ring to get a good seal. It would take much lube but I would want to find a produce that is safe to use in tubs. To run with the oil pan analogy you would do the same. Just my 2 cents.
  6. Hey guys I could use some help! I bought a flooded 2015 HS Envoy NXT. It was priced well enough to put some time and money into making it work again. I know that I have to replace pretty much everything! I've already bought a new heater relay board and the main control board. I'm about to buy a new Wavemaster 8200 and a 9000 pumps. Along with a silentflo E5 pump and a Freshwater III ozonator. My first question is is their any programing that needs to happen to the main control board? I have replaced the boards/ IQ2020 box flipped the 20AMP and 30AMP breakers and I don't see any LEDs coming on?? I have left the tablet controller in the charging bay over night and nothing powers on?? So I don't know if I'm missing a set? Next question is I have found a guy that sells new HS parts online. He has a lot of parts just not everything. He doesn't have the Wavemaster 9000 but he does have a new 8000. Looking at the specs it looks like it should work. Since I'm new to Hot tub repairs I just wanted to double check that I'm not missing something. any help or tips would be great!!
