What kind of filter do you have? sounds like you run the backwash directly to the pool? It should normally not be a problem because you have a higher pressure going to the pool then to the waste. The dirt in your pool now should clear up again, use a pool cleaner robot if you got one to speed things up. and maybe shock chlorine the pool. If its still cloudy then use some Flocculation

Is the pump and filter above the pool? Do you have a valve before the pump?
