Yes. Always done this since installed. Installer was very unknowlegable and slapdash with plumbing (some minimal changes required). I am concerned about a supply side leak but it must be very small I guess. It is a red leopard and it replaced a poolrite pump.

Hi Pool Clown, you seem to be an expert on here. Sorry to ask you directly if not appropriate but I am going away and so am trying to get some advice on this new pool pump..... any chance to get you idea on the above?

I have new pool pump which only primes to about 95%. Can see some air in lid. Previous pump primed to 100% water. It has been running ok and has never lost its prime over this past week but just has the air sitting in top of lid while on or off. 1hp fixed speed pump for small pool. Is this cause for concern? Is it likely to have or cause a problem?
