  1. Hey, sorry for bumping. Planning to move my hot tub and want to know where did you got a trailer? How much you paid for it? And how to secure the electrical and technical components. Plan to do this on my own cause I am moving to a farm, so the trailer will be a necessity for me.
  2. Great choice! I ordered the same one last week - waiting for delivery. Got mine from ibathtub. Honestly, the price was a little out of my budget, but we live only once, so I took it. Used the code OFF5 for a small discount that I found on DontPayFull. Might be useful in saving up some money.
  3. I got a used hot tub delivered about six weeks ago that was working fine before, but getting it up and running has been a nightmare with one problem after another. It keeps freezing in this crazy weather and damaging more stuff before I can get everything fixed! They really need to build these things with redundant heating systems. At the moment I'm losing several inches per hour through this broken piece, and I can't figure out what it is or how it works! it looks a little bit like the twisty things you used to adjust the air in the water but it was buried in foam. All these little pieces fell out. I ripped out more foam to see where the hoses go and one of them goes to a jet a few feet away and the other one I can't tell. What is the piece called, how does it work, how can I plug lines temporarily until I can get a replacement?
  4. Just moved into a new house with a large (about 35k gallons, based on my measurements) Aqua Leader AG pool, about 10 years old I think. The previous owner had all the equipment jerry-rigged, and chemicals were stored wrong. I showed the pool store guy this picture of the equipment and he flipped out about the way they had a top-discharge pump connected to a D.E. filter like that. He recommended connecting the pump and cartridge filter on the right. Which is currently unused. Is the way they have the plumbing done really a big deal? And the equipment sitting on the ground instead of a plastic base? I bought a replacement pressure gauge for the D.E. filter to be installed where they put the plastic plug. And what is all that orange goop where the hose goes into the D.E. filter? Is there anyway to get it off? It's supposed to be a 1 1/2" NPT connection I think. I would like to add a 3-way diverter between the pump and filter, so I can connect a hose and "vacuum to waste". And maybe a ball valve where the return eyeball is, for maintenance. At the moment, I am using 3" Tri-clor tablets in a floating thing, and I have a Taylor test kit. Pool guy said they thing sitting on the ground in left of the filter is for mineral cleaning or something, but missing parts. Also, the pump in use is only 3/4 HP, isn't that kind of small for a pool this size? I would like to add a heat pump eventually, which probably means all equipment and plumbing is too small, right? Also, why is the wall with the skimmer and return mounted to it like a different material than the rest? At least the liner is in good condition. PICTURE LINK Thanks for any help.
  5. I was having trouble getting the bromine to dissolve from the floater, but when I heat the tub, it disappears and the levels sky rocket! Now, my water is cloudy, and when I get out, my skin is dry, itchy, and smells like chemicals. The bromine reading from the pool store was 48.6PPM!! They want me to drain and refill. Now I have to keep taking the floater out. Is there someway to calculate how fast the bromine should be dissolving. Keeping it between 2 and 4PPM is a joke, it's hard enough to keep it between 0.2 and 40PPM. I also just got my new electronic pH meter calibrated. The other day, it said 6.5 before my soak, and 7.3 after. I think it went up because of aeration with the low alkalinity (30 to 70). Now my meter says 7.7, but it said 8.6 at the pool store, I think because of the high bromine. EDIT: The lady at the pool store also said with chlorine, you don't need the floater, you can just toss some in after using the hot tub. But can't you do this with bromine? Should I?
  6. I resently bought a portable spa with a vinal liner. I am a little overwhellemed reading about all the different chemicals and products avalible. I bought a chemical starter kit with the following: - 5 Way Test Strips - Bromine tablets, with floating dispenser - Spa Shock - pH Up - pH Down - Foam Away - Something to prevent scale buildup I put in the inital water Friday night. I did a water test both days after. I added bromine the first full day. It said to add 1 tablet per 100 gallons. So, for my 280 gallon spa, I added 2 tablets and a bunch of powder from the bottom of the bottle. The powder spilled out of the dispenser and felt like sand on the bottom of the spa. It disolves slower than I expected. A few basic quesions. My eyes arn't the best, but I think the pH and alkilinity were in the "good" range today, I built up about 1ppm of Bromine. Is it normal for it to take a long time to build up at first? I remember that my water was always on the hard side, from when I had a fish tank. But there is something on my test strips that says "Total Hardness". The scale goes up to 250 or something, but mine is always at 0. What does this mean? Does it need changed? How? I am also a little confused about spa shock and how it works. It seems that procedures are different with Bromine than Clorine. I have not added shock yet. I have heard a lot of conflicting advice on when to use it. My understanding is that it is not nessicary at first because it does not add bromine, just reactivates the used "waste" bromine that is there. Correct? And there is no way to test or moniter the level of "waste" bromine. So you just kind of guess and put some in once a week? Or if the water gets cloudy? Also, is it safe to pickup the bromine tablets with my fingers? That white dust went everywhere. It said to wear gloves and eye protection, but is it really THAT dangerous, as long as I don't eat it? How about other chemicals? Thank you for your help getting started. I will probably have a lot of dumb questions at first. I haven't used the hottub much yet, but I love it. Can't wait to add a light, and ozoner, and... wait, I am already over budget.
