  1. Hi, Ok, a little history here. Got my new Jetsetter this July....all is GREAT....loved it.....water fantastic.....then I noticed that the chemicals the guy who set up the hot tub with me, were labeled incorrectly.....I had been putting in down PH instead of Chorine.....my water turned green and had a bad odor.....drained, cleaned.....started over.....in no time, same issue....not as bad...bet getting there,,,,,drained, started over....really watching my chemicals....getting the hang of it....small adds and adjustments....etc....keeping it balanced....etc.....still.....got ....a ....smell.....and...not there yet. Bought a Silver Ion to my filter,, bought a ceramic filter to use when I take one out at a time to clean etc drained and cleaned again....still....not great. By coincidence, the problem with my water didn't start until I cleaned my filters for the first time, approximately, one month after owning the hot tub.....so I have always wondered if I did something incorrectly, as in putting them back in since cleaning, and using the correct chemicals doesn't seem to really fix the issue. I do know the first one has the grey top, and that's the one with the silver ion thingy,,,,,I spray them with a special hose adapter, soak in the grease remover stuff, spray again, insert.... QUESTION<<<<<Are they suppose to spin at all? Does the piece in front that goes up and down suppose to be down? or up? It was staying up, now it stays down....what is the function of this piece? Is there anything I should check for in the filter compartment that I don't understand? I have looked EVERYWHERE on line for information on this part of the Hot Springs line and can not find anything. Could there be another reason I can't get rid of that smell....? It's faint now, but there..... Also, I used that gunk remover stuff the last time I cleaned it....just in case....it's only about 6 months old now, with one user....and three cleanings....what are my options? Anyone else have this problem? Thanks for ALL the advice I can get....it's getting COLD here in upper Michigan so I only have one more chance at a drain and fill....before FREEZING begins. Karen
  2. OK, Loved my new tub, (hot springs jetsetter) but this is what happened. When it arrived, the guy who installed it, wrote on each bottle, what to do....as in how much, etc... on one, he wrote, put in a tablespoon after every use....unfortunately, he put it on the wrong one. Being new, I just thought he knew what he was doing....so I did as he said.... It was PH down.....not chlorine....so for a month, after each use, we used that....starting noticing how we were irritated after each use....so I looked more closely, and thought, hmmmm.....this doesn't seem right. so called the dealer and YES, he didn't give us the right directions....told us to put in LOTS of ph UP....so we did...and NOW....my hot tub is cloudy, smelly, floating.....and stinky.... Should I just drain it and start over??? I could clean the filters, put in new water and get a fresh start doing it right? Or is there another way? so kinda Pissed at myself for not checking....but realize I am a new owner and made the assumption he knew what he was doing....dang it! Advice need please.
  3. Hi, Located in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan. I think there is a dealer about 3-4 hours away in Sault Saint Marie....Any idea about how much one of those cost? The one with one pump? How does it compare with the jetsetter in terms of electrical use?
  4. As you may know, I am searching for a two man tub which needs to have a few important features. Built for COLD weather, electrically speaking... Deep enough to cover both people in the tub Reliable How does the Artic Fox figure here? It is certainly deep enough....claims to be the best on the market for COLD weather. Reliable? If you have information or experience selling or having this spa, would you please share what you know? thanks,
  5. Just to make matters harder......there is a nordic dealer about 3 hours from me who also carries Artic. The Artic Fox.....is be exact. He does not have the D'amour in stock but does have a few of the other ones, at least for a look at them....and the Artic Fox.... So,,,,anyone want to chime in the the FOX?
  6. Oh man,,,,you have me so confused now....ha ha ha....I love Toyotas....always wanted a Volvo....!!! Ok, so you are basically saying: 1) The electrical differences would take YEARS to make up the difference in price. 2) The Nordic is not only cheaper, but more reliable and cheaper to fix. 3) of utmost importance to me is also, depth of seat. I know it's important when its 20 below to have as much of the body as possible under the water. (Not from my own experience, from my friends who own tubs up here! So the fact that the D'amour MS is 34 inches, vs HOT Springs, 29 inches is a concern of mine. 4) I like the idea of a lounger in the HOt Springs, which is probably why it's deep enough on that seat, but Im afraid that the other person will be left in the cold....?????? 5) So Dr. Spa and Spa sage, you both seem to prefer the Nordic to the Hot Springs. Is it only because of repair costs down the line? Any other reason? I just wonder as I got the impression that Hot Springs was one of the best companies....and or makers of hot tubs. So curious as to why the obvious preference for Nordic. Lastly, I am partial myself to the Nordic in terms of getting a hot tub made in my own state....Michigan,,,,but I am rather not liking the only dealer... I wish the Hot Springs dealer sold Nordic.... Weigh in please. Karen
  7. I have two limited places to buy hot tubs. I'm comparing two now. Nordic D'amour and hot springs jetsetter. I'm confused with the responses I get. Are they from dealers? Or people who have owned them? I don't mind dealers weighing in but are there anyone who is not a dealer who can weigh in on benefits of both? Just wondering.
  8. Why does a hot spring cost more to repair? Just wondering?
  9. Spasage, Ok I went to see another dealer by me. The jet setter comes in at 1,000.00 more for the whole set up and delivery including 100.00 of chemicals. I really liked the dealer. He's been in the biz a long time. I'm pretty sure that it will be better than the nordic in terms of electrical use. Since at least two months of the year our temps hang in the below 20-30 degree range rather consistently, My concern was that it's depth was 29 inches vs. Nordics 34. Now,,,maybe I am missing something. Perhaps the seats are deeper? I truly wish I could sit in one somewhere but there are no dealers near me with them in stock. This is such a rural area that most don't have floor models at all. I also liked the hip jets on the nordic as I have arthritis in my hips. But I'm thinking if the hot springs is an all around better tub, that price difference seems meniscal and perhaps that hip jet is not a deal breaker? Forgive me if I don't have a good concept here. So new to this. When they out depths on their specs, does it automatically mean that is the depth of the water itself or height of the complete tub? Could you or anone else weigh in on this for me? Thanks.
  10. HI again, After having some doubts of the Nordic Dealer, I thought I would go to the HOt Springs dealer. Those are my two options within 60 miles of me. Therefore, Anyone want to give me some insights in the differences in these two tubs? I mostly interested in electrical costs comparisons. How would I find that out? My electric is VERY expensive and I live in a VERY cold area, so it is of up most importance to me to make sure a tub I get isn't outragously expensive electrically. Then I noticed that the Hot Springs has a salt option as a cleanser and I like that idea. I hate chemicals...so avoiding them is also important to me. I haven't been to the Hot Springs dealer yet, planning a trip on Friday or Saturday. Want to know what to compare, etc. ThanksKaren
  11. My thoughts exactly Spa Savant! I feel kinda like I was duped or something. Frankly, I wish the tub had the freight figured in to begin with since it's going to be in the final price anyways. So why hide it till you go to order? Then say, you don't hide anything? oh well....I don't have many choices so if the final price is OK, well, maybe I'll have to just go with it. I wanted to go as local as I can get in a rural area such as mine, but honestly is important to me. Karen
  12. Ok well I get that kinda. But then my question should be, is $ 5,660.00 a decent price for the Nordic D'amour hot tub, cover, ozonater and extra insulation and delivery? Cus that's the bottom line of what I'm paying for it. I get hidden costs. But I kinda wish when you are in a store three different times and prices come up each time, that they tell you, oh by the way, add on an additional $800.00 more in freight and delivery charges to all the other things mentioned. I think it works better to talk up front of charges then to wait until you order it thinking it's one price and then finding out about the hidden costs you weren't charged in the tub price but are now being charged it. So....is this a decent price?
  13. Hi, Was looking for a two man spa tub and decided on the Nordic D"amour. It came in at $3,990.00 Add to that, $100 more for extra insulation, $350 for a cover, $125 for the ozonator, now it is $4,565...plus tax= $4,818.00. I was OK with that, but now, I was told it is an additional $400.00 to have it sent to the store (freight charge) and an additional $ 400.00 to deliver it to us for a grand total of: $5.618.00 So I am wondering if this is normal? Do stores charge freight costs? I do live in the UP of Michigan, a little out of the way, but we have at least 4 stores within 60-70 miles....If it is, I;ll pay it. Just wasn't sure. Now I am looking at spa direct. no delivery or freight charges, no taxes, cover included. I'm looking at the Belise. Anyone know about this? My electrician can hook it up for us.... thanks, Karen
  14. Spa sage, I am getting serious about the D' amore from Nordic for two reasons. I live in Michigan where they are made, I like the price, and I have a local dealer. Ok, that's three reasons....anyways, I also really need something for my neck and shoulders. So wondering about that with the damoure. Is it deep enough? Also, never considered this before, but the round tubs might be nice as there is more freedom of movement? What is the advantage of bucket seats? More distinct jet pressure? I have never been in a hot tub other than hotel ones which of course are all round. Can anyone chime in on free seating vs bucket seating? Remember, 90% of the time! I'm by my lonesome. Thanks.
