  1. Either way you are good to go. Check the resistance on the old heater from terminal to terminal. If you still have it.
  2. How old is the tub? Did this problem just develop or has it always done it since you plugged it in?
  3. Made by Watkins which is the maker of the best selling hot tub line in the world. Made of course to meet a price point for stores like Costco. Your getting a decent value and a great return policy, if Costco still offers it? But your giving up a bit of warranty and dealer support and service. You also have to assume it is going to fit you well as there is no possible way to wet test or even dry test or kick the tires. This may be fine for you. I personally want it to fit me and provide the hydrotherapy I desire.
  4. As long as you don't wear a swimsuit you can be in it as many times and as long as you want.
  5. I think BF has a few years to go before their reputation gets to the point of high end. They just made one major change for the problem and are now better. And once they get some tubs out there for 5-10 years I may be able to give them a higher thumbs up. Until then sorry.
  6. I think you could find a happy medium between that 15 buck a foot stuff and the cheap pipe foam from the box store. Go to Grainger and have a look. Or an insulation supplier like API supply in MPLS/StPaul not sure if they will sell to you but I am sure there are places that sell their products near you. Where are you?
  7. I didn't say BF is a bad brand. I just think there are a ton in the high end spa market that should be considered. You guys are to sensitive to differing views than your own. A salesman and new owner should be excited about it being what they consider the best.
  8. A 150,000 BTU pool heater is not that expensive though. And with your swim spa also I wonder how that water heater and x will keep up? If your in a fairly moderate climate probably no big deal.
  9. Lay a blanket down on the concrete and tip it up on it's side. Use the equipment side to your advantage by putting it down.
  10. I think I would bench test the pump to see if it is working. If it is then yes, after replacing the heater like you did you likely have a board problem. Not very common but possible.
  11. If your going to grab Bullfrog and throw it in the mix with probably the top manufacturers on the market for reliability and longevity you should also consider Dimension One, Beachcomber, Artesian and Arctic if they are in your area.
  12. You may be able to get him down on bit on the Reward to make it closer in price. This may make the difference in feel and longevity/warranty worth it.
  13. The worst scenario for hot tub sanitation. Long periods of non use. I guess if it were me I would use Dichlor. You can add an oz or two and drive up the PPM to 15-20 when you leave the tub. After 2 weeks you will get back and likely have to put a small amount in as your PPM will have dissipated to 0 probably or close to it. It takes a couple days to get 3-5 PPM to dissipate. Should take a week or more for 15-20 to dissipate. Or maybe a bromine floater set to real low when your gone and higher during use. Along with some granular bromine for right when you leave. Good question. Maybe others can enlighten both of us on the best way to handle your situation.
  14. Hmmmmmmmmmm Epsom Salt Magnesium sulfate Drug Magnesium sulfate is an inorganic salt containing magnesium, sulfur and oxygen, with the formula MgSO4. Formula: MgSO4 Molar mass: 120.366 g/mol Melting point: 2,055°F (1,124°C) Pregnancy risk: Category A (Controlled studies show no risk) Soluble in: Water Drug class: Calculi Dissolution Agent Other drugs in same class: Magnesium, Magnesium chloride, More
  15. If you do drain it put some valves on for next time.
  16. I have made several plugs out of wooden dowels (wood close hanger poles I think they started as 1') that are tapered just right to quickly jam in the hoses when it's removed. Still makes a mess but a small one if your quick and the plugs are made just right. I used a belt sander and a vice to taper the wood first and then cut them at about 3-4 inches long.
  17. The jets will run continuously until it is heated to temp. If it's 110V tub a degree an hour is about right.
  18. Sure. Does it have a small circ pump? If so try unplugging that one first. Then if that doesn't work try pump 1.
  19. That tube is the heater. There should be a sensor on the heater and a sensor past the heater. One is for overheat and the other is for flow. I would check the flow sensor first. How long since you cleaned the filters? Take the filters/s out and try running it. If that doesn't do it use a jumper across the flow sensor.
  20. Well I have seen Durasport and they were not a bad value tub. I did not know Strong was the parent company or visa-versa. I have also seen a couple Strong tubs and wasn't impressed but they were the Costco offerings.
  21. Are you sure Durasport is made by Strong? I though there was another company involved? Strong has cut many corners to sell to big box stores at their price points. I know they will tell you their non big box store tubs are the same but trust me they are not.
  22. Have you purged the air from out of the pump lines?
  23. Get a heater on it ASAP. Inside the cabinet. Get it drained or call a tech to do it. More damage is being created as we speak. Be sure to suck or blow all the lines out and disconnect the pumps at the unions if your doing it yourself.
  24. Winterize the tub for sure. It is likely frozen so you may want to bring in a tech. Where are you located? What part of Mn?
