  1. Do you have the old filter? There should be a number on it somewhere. If you do, try this site: http://www.spa-daddy.com/Ft-Wayne-Spas+Filter-Cartridges-bymanufacturer.html I had good luck finding a filter for a 1985 spa, from a long defunct manufacturer, there, but I did have an old filter to compare numbers and pictures to. It was a special order, weirdo filter, but they did have it. Pleatco still makes filters for old spas, but finding the right one is the trick. If you don't have the old filter, I'd try measuring everything you can measure, taking a picture of the filter housing and calling them.
  2. And, maybe, oddest setup? I've been lurking here for some time and have learned a lot, which has really helped with getting things running and under control. I'm curious, what is the oldest hot tub going? We bought a house two years ago that came with a 1985 Seven Seas, 250 gallon, hot tub...in the master bathroom, on the SECOND FLOOR! Eek! My initial reaction was to rip it out and do something else with that space. My husband, however, decided, WTH, lets see what happens if we fill it. Now, I did drill a couple of discrete holes in the floor to see what kind of beams were under it first . It ran, it didn't fall through the floor. It did not heat over 80 degrees, though. I had a purported spa tech out and he threw up his hands, saying it was older than he was and he had no idea. So, we went at it ourselves. Replaced the pressure switch, took the old Morgan heater out and cleaned iron deposits out of it (we're on well water, heavy with iron, we've since put a treatment system on it). Degunked the thermostat bulb thing...attempted to calibrate it to the dial(!) control up top. The darned thing works GREAT! It's so simple, mostly mechanical....very straightforward and easy to repair because of it. Since it's inside, things are in very good shape, at 30 years old. I had some stumbles trying to figure out how to manage the water, but it's been consistently good for a year and a half now...thanks to a lot of reading here. Since it's inside, it stays pretty clean. We're using Nature 2/MPS and some chlorine. Swap the water out about every 3 months or when it doesn't balance easily or doesn't maintain sanitizer well. Because we are on septic, I won't put all that water down the drain and, instead, pump it out the window and off into the woods (also our property and I wait until chlorine is 0 before sending it out the window) with a long hose. Very strange tub (a bit of a Frankentub, as the previous owners and us have used what parts we can get) and a very odd physical setup. But, we love it! I worry some about a leak, since it's upstairs, but, so far, so good. Humidity has not been a problem, there is an operable skylight directly over it and we put in a big, honking, active vent fan too. Best of all, it heats to well over 104. I prefer hotter and shorter time in the tub. Anyone have anything older than this? I'll be back for advice if we run into trouble. **BTW, I DID put paragraphs in, to make this easy to read, but the board doesn't seem to support them, at least on my browser **
