  1. Hello, Anyone out there know which SWG can handle the lowest flow and still generate chlorine (not get a "no flow warning")? I really like taking the flow rates as low as possible. Thanks
  2. Hi All, Just got my new pool filled. Could someone please tell me in which position (open, closed, 1/2 way) I should have my valves for normal pool operation and cleaning? Return Main drain Cleaner Skimmer Thanks
  3. Hi All, I'm building an 11K pool with spa and (2) 36" sheer decent waterfalls. Water features are 18" above the water line. I'll have a Pentair Inteliflo VF pump with Easy Touch automation. My contractor says all is good except that I won't be able to run the spa and water features at the same time. Why would that be? If I have 3 actuators shouldn't I be able to run the pool, spa, and the features at the same time? Thanks, Badger
  4. Hi All, I'm in the process of building a 13K gallon pool with spa in south FL. I will be building this around a Pentair inteliflo VF pump. My contractor has suggested mating the pump to a Jandy aqua link RS-6 pool/spa controller. The cost for this automation is $2250. He also suggested a separate 0.75hp pump to run two 36" waterfalls (18" above water line). Here are my questions...... Is the Jandy a reasonable choice to mate with my Pentair pump, or is there a better alternative. Is $2250 reasonable for this automation. Also, do I really need a separate 0.75hp pump for the water features, or should my Inteliflo VF be able to handle the task of pool/spa/waterfeature? As I'm getting a variable speed pump, economy and cost (energy) savings are important to me. Thanks for your insight.

  6. Hi, I've got several bids out for a new pool and spa. Total volume will be approximately 12,000 gallons. Any preferences/comments on which pump, filter, or salt system is superior. (1)Pentair Inteliflo variable speed VF vs. Hayward Ecostar variable speed pump... (2)Jandy Aquapure 700 chlorinator vs. Autopilot digital salt system.... (3)Pentair CS 150 cartridge filter vs. Hayward C 1200 cartridge filter Thanks, Badger
  7. Thanks for the info. So then as I understand it, if I want to keep my spa heated for a extended period of time I wouldn't be circulating the spa water. If I heat my spa to 102 degrees, cover it with the intention of using it the next day that water would not be turned over - correct? I'm just thinking of the cost of having to heat the spa from 70 degrees (since the pool isn't going to be heated) to 100 on a daily basis. Is there an economical way to completely separate the pool and spa. Or is that just not done? Badger
  8. Four years ago I got great advice here and ended up getting a pentair inteliflow variable speed pump. Great energy savings by running at 1000 rpm and am the envy of the hood. I'm now building a new house and pool and would like to know the current recommendations on pool pumps. I must say, I usually only run my pump on 2 speeds - slow and fast for cleaning. The question I have, would I be just as well served with a 2 speed pump. My new pool will be a pool spa combo and may have solar panels on the roof. I know very little about solar heating but assume I'd have to run a variable speed pump on a higher setting to pump through the roof panels. For how long does one run the water through the panels? If it's for a long time aren't I better off just getting a single speed pump? Any input would be appreciated. How many hp should my pump have for a 13K gallon pool. I know some pool guys have a one size fits all mentality. Thanks, Badger
  9. Hi all, I'll be building a pool with spa in the next several months. I've got a few questions as I move forward. I'm sure my builder can answer the question, but I'd rather get the info from unbiased folks. My pool will be around 13K gallons. First, I don't want to heat my pool since I'm in South Florida, yet would like to heat the spa. I'm guessing this is possible and not a big deal for the builder. So, I assume I would need a much smaller hearter for just the spa. I don't know how many gallons the spa will be but I plan on having it large enough for 6 people. Any recommendations on heaters. Are the pool and spa's water interconnected and thus go through the same pump, filter, and chlorine generator? If so, how do I keep my "hot" water from constantly drawing in cool pool water? I see these spas that have their water spilling into the pool (nice water feature), but doesn't that lead to a lot of wasting energy/hot water. Any advice on building a pool spa combo would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Badger
