  1. UPDATE! In case this helps someone else. I eventually replaced the circ pump and it did the trick!!!!!! Stupid stupid stupid old circ pump was working but I guess not enough (really threw me off as well as the Hot Spring tech who was an idiot). I bought the more powerful pump on amazon, not the stock pump. Hope that helps someone! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi guys, I know this topic has been covered many times already, I have read all the posts. I have tried everything, i'm going nuts!!! I have a 2005 Sovereign. It came with my house when I bought it. I didn't know anything about hot tubs and learned the hard way how to manage water. So a few years ago my circ pump failed and I had it replaced. It worked for about a year after getting a few blinking red lights here and there. I cleaned the filters and it seemed to work for a while. Then last month I started getting both green and red blinking lights. Was told my heater was full of calcium (we have very very hard water). I just replaced the heater and both high limit and regular thermistor. Ok, tub worked for about 5 days and then BOOOOOMMMM, blinking god damn red light again! I bought 4 new trix filters, it worked for about 24 hours and then BOOOOOOM! blinking red light again!!!!! Even if I take the filters out it will only work for about 24-48 hours before the light starts blinking again. Its got to be a flow problem, but from where? I thought the circulation pump I put in about a year or two ago may be bad but the waterfall is working just fine. I can see the bubbles from the drain. The circ pump is working, but could it be possible that its just tired and not working enough to flow water through the heater? I have the hot springs guy coming this week but they charge $90 a visit and really only try to get me to trade in my tub and buy a new one. They really suck at actually fixing anything. They told me last time my tub was dead and I should spend $12k to buy a new one. Should I throw another circ pump at this thing, or wait and see what the tech says. I have no idea what i'm doing wrong. I have heard someone was putting fishing wire into the pipes to maybe dislodge a calcium fragment or something. Will this work? When I cleaned the tub recently I did vacuum out a whole crap load of calcium pieces. Sorry for the long post, but i'm about to throw this crap in the garbage and be done with tubs for a while. Thank you!
  2. Hi guys, sorry to bring up a old post but i've been having this exact same problem with my 2005 Sovereign. I started to get a blinking red light over and over. I had replaced the circulation pump about a year ago and it has been working fine. I also notice the waterfall working well as well as flow coming from the drain grill in the footwell. We have very hard water where we are and I thought it may be the calcium build up. (Spa was here when we bought the house and I'm not sure if the old owners took care of it). There was little calcium pieces all over! I spent a whole day just sucking them out with a wetvac. I thought it also got clogged in the heater so I took the heater apart and it was covered in calcium! I took some muriatic acid and dissolved it all away. I bought NEW Trix filters. So now I refill the tub and its working well, no lights blinking.....then the next day, BOOM! Red flashing light again. I now check the thermistors and they both are about 8 on the meter. I take the filters out and still, red flashing light after about 5-10 minutes of turning on the GFCI breaker to the heater. If I leave the heater breaker off and just turn the tub breaker I get no issues. The jets work, but no heat. As soon as I turn on the heater breaker, BOOM! Red flashing light within a few minutes sometimes, but sometimes it works for a few hours. Do you guys just think my heater is shot? Its got a good reading on the Ohm meter but i'm not sure if its just ruined from years of calcium build up. Has anyone successfully cleaned a no fault heater by taking it apart and soaking it in acid? I don't want to spend $350 on a new heater for no reason if its something else. Thanks!
  3. Ok, I have some new points to add. When I turn on the 20 A breaker now I see a lot of bubbles coming from the bottom drain. Now this is ONLY with my stupid little waterfall thingy off. As soon as I turn the water feature on, the bubbles from the bottom of the drain slow down dramatically. If i run the jets with the 30 A breaker on without the waterfall it will work for a little while. If I turn the water feature on it will shut off and start blinking red right away. Does this mean the circ pump is dying? I can't believe I'm saying this but I will be SO happy if the circ pump is dying, because then at least I know what the problem is and I can easily replace the circ pump. any thoughts?
  4. Thanks for writing back John. I know this is a good tub but when it doesn't work and its minus 30 F outside (I'm in a very cold place!) during the winter what should I do? Should I just buy a new circ pump? It seems to be working. Vibrating and I think there is flow. The tub works fine when the 20 A breaker is on. As soon as I turn the 30 A breaker it shuts down and the dreaded red light blinks. Should I buy a new heater? I just cleaned all the filters even after buying four new triflex (something like that) filters from my dealer for $100 a pop and he said that would solve the problem! I can understand spending a few hundred on this old tub but more than $1000 and it isn't worth it. Please someone help!
  5. I know this is a few years old thread but I am having almost the same issues with my Hot Springs Sovereign. I think it is a 2005 or 2006 model. STUPID blinking Red light!!! Will happen even when the jets are not on. I have tried all the circ pump tricks like pushing water through the gray pipe and letting the bubbles bleed. I am able to feel that it is working (at least it is humming). Water does come out of the caps on the bottom of the tub when I open them. I have cleaned filters, replaced them, run the tub without filters. NOTHING WORKS! It is so random, some times the tub will work great for 5 or 10 min or so, and sometimes it will just blink flashing red for no reason. I have even turned down the temp to try and distinguish it from the heater which may be faulty. I have reset my GFCI breakers almost 50 times trying to figure this thing out! I have contacted the local hot spring dealer but every time he comes he charges an insane amount and just tries to sell me a new tub (and trade in this tub) by saying how old my tub is and how expensive it will be to fix. He can't even figure it out. He wanted to charge me $500 for a new circ pump. I just went ahead and bought a new Costco Tub this weekend but I will cancel that if I can somehow fix this tub. Any ideas?????? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have not tried that thermistor thing though. How would I go about knowing if that was defective?
