  1. Draining your pool is fairly simple i don't think you need a service company if your just draining & refilling your pool with fresh water ideally pool water should be changed every 3-4 years anyways so this is a good idea all you need to do is go to a home depot or lowes and get a submergible pump and some discharge hose then i'd recommend finding the clean out your house so that you can drain the water into there pretty simple and easy as long as your pool isn't green and requiring a ton of cleaning you should b just fine.
  2. I'm a warranty station for jandy in sacramento area i have used there products for many years i have to agree w/ mike that heater model has had many issues i am a big fan of hayward & sta-rite heaters but I'm in love with new new heater jandy just came out with the new JXI is a really cool unit and its way lighter & compact a guy can carry it buy him self no problem
  3. I'm a warranty station for pentair so i know for a fact that the easy touch will not communicate w/ a hayward cell i personally am a pentair fan what is failing on your ic40's and have you tried to address this problem with warranty are you cleaning them every 3 months ?
  4. What type of pump is it..? also are you sure you have it wired properly sounds like it could be a starting capacitor issue
  5. There is actually a LOT of misinformation in the above link. For example, it states that liquid chlorine raises pH when in reality it is basically pH neutral on use (alkaline on addition and acidic as it sanitizes and gets converted to chloride ions for a fairly neutral net pH.) It also has a charts that shows the activity of chlorine at different pH but does not take into account that once CYA is present in the water the effects of pH become negligible. It has very misleading information on the chlorine content of different chlorine sources and does not take into account any side effects of their use or the cost of their usage (including necessary chemicals/procedures to minimize these side effects). I could go on but you get the picture. Well I followed this chart for my pool and have never had a problem I was just trying to help
  6. Here is an awesome section that will teach you about these readings and how to correct them and what they mean http://sacpoolservices.com/pool-water-chemistry/
  7. This is your check valve, is your spa raised ??? or is your equipment a little bit above water level... the flapper should be staying shut when pump is off there for holding the water in the filter and pump for the next running cycle I'd replace the inside of your check valves
  8. Draining a pool can result in the gunite shell actually popping out of the ground if the surrounding ground is too moist it will also ruin your plaster by drying it out not a good idea at all if your pool pops out of the ground you need to basically build a new pool....I've seen this happen many times
  9. You have a bad check valve or no check valve installed spa is siphoning back towards the equipment and into the pool once equipment is off they are pretty easy to replace also just a fyi looks like from pictures your booster pump is leaking possibly a bad seal I would get that fixed before it gets worse and ruins whole motor.
  10. Are you just trying to pull in a brand new light ? if it was built in 1976 then yes you would have to install a whole new light if you already pulled out the wire from the existing light then you will have to snake the new wire for the new light back in. if the existing wire is still there then you can just tape it together with electrical tape and pull it through with the old wire lots of times if its that old It may not want to pull through very easy I'd suggest having a pool professional do it because electricity and water are very dangerous please make sure while attempting this all breakers are off
  11. Air in pump is possibly a dirty filter as for the noise it sounds like its the impeller
  12. Commercial pools are very easy to get I have many of them down here in Sacramento, CA the way I got most of my accounts was just going into the offices and dropping off flyers also the yearly inspections are very hard they look for lots of little things you must have logs of all your chemical reading all pumps need to be grounded equipment rooms must be clean and free of garbage and debris pool tile must be clean and should have build up of scum O-rings in skimmers and baffles must be present hand rails must be solid gates to pool gates must shut and lock properly NEVER PUT TABS IN SKIMMER automatic shut down if you have anymore question feel free to contact me I have many marketing techniques I can share with you.
  13. Yes please and some photos and we can tell you which valves are turned wrong you definitely have spa suction on
