  1. I have a portable pool. It was up for a year+plus then we moved, so we took the pool and plopped it in the new yard. Under the pool I have a layer of Happy bottom and some other foam too. when i rolled it up to move it smelled awful.. It was just the rotting grass smell. I put it back down at the new house. I can't remember if i washed it off or not. Maybe. it was a natural decomposition thing. The point is I cannot smell it now. it's under 80,000 lbs of water. nothing is getting out from under the pool now. So, If mold were growing were growing there would you care?, Most of the mold problems in home are the molds that grow on wet gypsum board that feed on the paper. I'm no expert but i have been around above ground pools all my life, never heard of a mold problem.
  2. again i still swear by easy bottom on top of the sand
  3. i used easy bottom and would use it again. it's great
  4. perhaps you can have a reel on the far side of your deck. then use straps to make up the distance from the deck to the cover
  5. I don't think you need to be that drastic. When i had a frame pool I used a shop vac to get all the water out and then dried it further with towels. I folded it and stored it in the garage till the next season.
  6. i used a layer of happy bottom and then a layer of perfect bottom for a soft side pool (they have a pretty thick liner). i just put it on top of the grass. From what i understand gorilla pad has no thickness to it.
  7. I have a fafco. i think it is 20'X4' I used in NH to heat a 15X36 pool. i attached it to a fence. when we moved to California i stored it for 5 years. I needed a new hose adapter. I emailed Fafco and they mailed me one they had even though they have not used them for years. no charge. the heater was fine it took me a little while to convince the panel which had be rolled up for 5 years that it was good to be unrolled. (it kept rolling itself back up when i was trying to unroll it by alone. Everytime it rolled up it had enough momentem to chase me across the yard ) i have it laying on a concrete slab now. works well
  8. like the queen said, here a link http://www.doughboy-pools.com/img/document...DOUGHBOYRND.pdf
  9. we have a 100,000 btu hayward natural gas heater for a 21' pool. we went with gas because it heats faster that the heatpump. the heat pumps are most economical. If i has to do it again i would go with gas but a higher BTU. 150,000 or 200,000
  10. I had a intex frame pool (plastic frame) for 3 seasons in New Hampshire we got a lot of use out of it. Alot of people on this forum are anit-softside pool but i disagree, although i would not own the one with the inflatable rim. they are not very stable. We have a 21' legacy pool now I am pleased with that too. I got the soft side pool because it is less invansive to the property. As long as your ground is pretty level your set. Also target marks thier pools down around or just after july 4th.
  11. I just installed a 100,000 btu heater for a 21' X 4' round pool. I am not sure if the heater is working or not. when it lights i feel warm air from the vent but not after that. the heated does not seem to be warm to touch. it is not hot where warning labels indicate it might be Hot. I left it on for 12 hours a the temperature did not rise much at all. The pump is 55 gpm. Maybe to much for this heater. Any body familar with this setup. we is in Southern CA and i always have on a solar cover.
  12. Doughboy has many pool types. This link will take you to a page in the doughboy web site which a lot of instruction manuals http://www.doughboy-pools.com/?page=4&tab=Pools
  13. I looked at at both pools you mentioned and i would go with the splash pool. I just put up a legacy pool soft side pool and am very pleased with it. The only problem i have is that the legs have sunk into the ground a bit due to the weight of the pool. It look like the splash pool has really thought this out and have included the "spash blox" to distribute the weight of each leg. I was going to place patio blocks under each leg but I may just order a set of the splash blox since the splash pool leg design is very similar to the legacy. I also put down a layer of perfect bottom between the poo land the ground for extra protection from weeds and rocks.
  14. I bought a hayward 100,000 btu propane heater. since then we decided to go with natural gas. there is a coversion kit available for about $30.00. Has anyone ever done a conversion like this?
  15. I decided to put a layer of perfect bottom and then happy bottom. overkill probably. i'll let the readers know.
