  1. Thanks for the info...I guess as long as the FC, TA, and PH stay where you want them it's all good. If anyone has any info on hot tub use with the new clorox germicidal please pass it along. Also, what's with the new required bleach formulas? I'll look for 12% bleach, I don't care what % it is as long as it equals "cost effective" in the long run.
  2. Anyone out there using the new Clorox concentrated bleach (8.25%)? I noticed the also have a clorox germicidal bleach and was wondering if that would be better to use ? http://www.clorox.com/products/clorox-concentrated-germicidal-bleach/ingredients-and-safety/ Any thoughts?
  3. I really wish there was a table of some sort.... There is a wealth of information on this forum, unfortunately when it comes to this topic it seems everyone has there own "ballpark" method of measuring. Leisure Time Renew states this on their website: After Each Use: 1. Turn on filtration system. 2. For each 250 gallons of water, add 2 ounces directly into spa water. 3. Run filtration system for 15 minutes with cover off. 4. Repeat process once a week to help maintain clear, odor-free water. LOL, it says repeat once a week, but starts by stating "after each use." Renew also has buffers already mixed in so a different brand oxidizer might be a different dose? If you find a "miracle chart" please share...
  4. My Taylor kit is due to arrive in a few days, in the meantime I took my water in to the local pool shop because they offer free testing and figured what the heck. The test came back how I figured except: 1) phosphates - "normal range" = <100 ppb My tub is 2,500 ppb 2) Calcium is 60 (low) Are either of these anything to worry about? First time I've heard about phosphate levels.... Thanks
  5. If so what is the advantage / disadvantages? If you have already explained this in a thread, please paste the link. I can't seem to find a "straight" answer Thanks
  6. I am using the vision cartridge (D1) so am I better off using MPS as a regular disinfectant? And that means using chlorine to shock once a week or so?
  7. LOL, Copy.... The scoop I'm using is leisure time, 1 scoop = 6 teaspoons I'm more curious why some say recommend shocking with MPS 1 x week and adding chlorine after every use VS. Shocking with chlorine 1 x week and adding MPS after every use Gets confusing ???
  8. Hi, Newbie here, seems I've read so much info on threads I now know just enough to NOT do it right Family of five with three kids. My hot tub is 300 gal / 7 person tub. Has ozone and vision cartridge. Added metal gon and vision cart 48 hrs later. After filling with city water my TA was about 180 and PH was >8. I have a Taylor 2006 on order and using strips til it arrives. After a couple tspns of acid TA looked like it dropped to120ish (24 hours later) and pH around 7.8 Have used the tub about 6x, every time after I have added 1/2 scoop chlorine (spa 56). Had a heavy bather load last night (6 for 1 hr) and added 1 scoop chlorine. All reading from strip look good this morning but water looks a little cloudy. I dont want to start adding stuff I dont need but want to add the right stuff. Before getting the tub my plan was to use MPS after every use and add chlorine once a week or so. My dealer advised me to do the opposite, using chlorine after every use and MPS once a week (shock). Can you please advise me what the best route is? I can get you more accurate readings when the taylor kit arrives. Much appreciated, Mike
  9. Is there anything we can do as members to help out? Maybe some IT guys can chime in here? I realize I'm not offering a solution, but if there is anything we can do as members (besides bi*ch and whine please let us know....
  10. I'm a new hot tub owner as well.... Just throwing out my "newbie" opinion here.... We just purchased a D1, spent more than we wanted to, but in the end we anticipate having this for a long time and we are very happy with the tub! Now the last thing I want to see is someone post on here next week that they just bought the same model w/ same options for 1k cheaper....LOL, I think that's the worst part about purchasing these things! Ours is a newer model (meridian) so not a whole lot of price comparison online..... Bottom line is we went a little outside our budget, but have a quality tub that fits us and our wants / needs. I know we'll be happy with this tub! With that said, in feeling out the other tubs, I was told OVER THE PHONE from a local dealer that he would sell me a new HS Rhythm (just like the Tempo w/o lounge) for $5,800. We never checked it out so he could have been dangling a lure, but he sounded legit. At that price it was probably bare bones and maybe with options 7K ? (guesstimating) It seems hot tubs are different prices all over. If you're purchasing a tub you know fits you and your family, and it's somewhere in your budget (or a little outside just bite the bullet and make the purchase. A year from now when you're soaking - staring at the stars - hang'n with the fam, are you really going to care??? Wish you the best of luck!
  11. Posted this a few days ago and somehow was deleted. Here's my review of the purchase, I'll post some pics and updates when it's delivered and set up in a few weeks... Hi All, I've been on the forum checking reviews and doing research for a while, want to thank all of you for your advise and reviews. It really helps out in the whole process. I'm new to the hot tub scene, have a family of 5 and decided we were going to get a tub. I like researching everything - didn't realize I'd be doing as much research on these tubs as I did. After searching the internet for a month or so we felt like we had the tub brands narrowed down to HS, Jacuzzi, Sundance, D1, and were even considering Aquaterra (costco). We wanted to stay between 5-7K for budget, and like most other families we wanted the most bang for the buck without sacrificing quality. After calling the local dealers I was and feeling them out I was pleasantly surprised at the "no rush" attitude! We live in So Cal and are fortunate to be surrounded several manufacturers. So we felt like we had the research down, now it was time to wet test. The wet test list was HS Rhythm, Jacuzzi 365, Sundance Chelsee, and D1 Meridian. The D1 was at the bottom of our list simply because of cost, in general we are a "chevy" family, not a "mercedes" family I had spoken to the local dealers, all seemed to be professional and "straight up" with me. We don't have a local D1 dealer but the D1 factory is an hour away (Vista) and I thought I would at least put a call in to feel out the Meridian. I spoke to JT @ D1 for 45+ minutes, I was impressed with his attitude and how much time he was willing to give me on the phone. After the phone conversation D1 was no longer at the bottom of my list. So I made the drive to the D1 factory and figured I'd do a wet test and be done in an hour or so. LOL, I was there for 5 hours! I met with JT, he is as nice in person as on the phone. spent an hour or so checking out the showroom then he offered to give me a factory tour. At this point I was sold on the appearance of the Meridian, but now I get to see IMO the most important part - how the product is made. We spent a couple hours touring, I was absolutely amazed at the quality and workmanship that goes into each hot tub! The employees there all seem to be happy and not only enjoying their job, but taking pride in what they do. I also learned D1 has a program that rewards their employees when a suggestion is given and used to constantly improve the tubs. This is already going to be a long post so I won't go into details, but there are so many inspection points and details that go into every tub, I can see why these tubs are recommended by most people on the forums. And if you own a D1, know that you have a solid product - not just by outward appearance, but from the inside guts! If any of you are considering a D1 or own a D1 and are able to make the trip to Vista, Ca I encourage you to tour the factory, it really is an amazing experience! So after the tour, I did the wet test. Keep in mind after seeing the workmanship that goes in these tubs, I was pretty much sold before the wet test. I ended up spending an hour wet testing, tried all the jets and must have asked a thousand questions. An absolutely amazing experience all together! Did all the paperwork, picked colors, etc....and we are now owners of a D1 Meridian! Did we go outside of our 5-7k budget? Yes... (added circ pump, ozone, vision cart, included was cover, ez lift, steps, chems, ultralife shell, delivery. $7,700 before tax). I know this spa will last us a long time and feel confident we purchased a quality product! Just to clarify, I am a consumer, have no affiliation with anyone in the hot tub business. I'm not getting a bonus or discount for writing this experience. I wrote this lengthy write up to assist anyone on the fence like I was. I'm just passing along my experience. I'm sure the other brands and models I mentioned are great, I have no negatives or positives on them because I only tested the D1. Just know if you are considering a D1 or own a D1, it is a solid product!
