  1. First thing that filter is undersized for a 30,000 gallon pool so when you have a lot of debris in the pool the filter is going to plug up fast. On your pump does the basket have any holes in it or is the handle broken off. The reason that Im asking is after reading your original post you could have some debris that has made it past the basket and into the impellar. This could not only reduce your suction but when you go to backwash the pump will not be pushing enough water to churn the sand up and get a good cleaning and would allow debris to pass back into the pool. Is there a lot of large debris like leaves in the pool?
  2. There might not be a thermonuclear war but those fires seem to be doing a number on you guys.
  3. Let's see if Brulan can shed some light. My god man! Do you know what you've just done!
  4. Did you shut the power off to it. If it trips the high limit it doesnt automatically reset. You have to shut the power off at the breaker then reset it. That clears the memory on it. When you say you cleaned the filters how did you clean them?
  5. And at your budget anything you buy you will not hold up very well. So I agree your best bet is to find a used spa. Make sure you do your homework though so you dont just end up with someone elses junk.
  6. In our experience no insurance company will accept an automatic cover in lieu of a fence. The problem is a cover can be left open and vulnerable to kids or animals wandering in. In our area a fence is required along with a spring loaded self latching gate so that the gate cant be left open accidentally.
  7. If the sand is specified for a pool filter it will not be the issue. One thing you want to do on the multi port valve when you have a lot of debris in the pool is to vacuum with the valve in the waste mode so that all of the debris isnt going into the sand. In this mode it allows you to vacuum but sends everything through the valve and right out the waste line. This will make it so you dont have to keep backwashing. In this mode you will be pumping the water right out of the pool so you will want to throw the garden hose in the pool and be adding water as you are vacuuming. To help you diagnose your problem I need a little more info. What brand and model are your filter and pump?
  8. Do you know what the brand is or is it built by one of the fiberglass pool manufacturers?
  9. Did you get the chemicals figured out?
  10. The reason that I asked is the sand filter has to have 20 grit silica sand and if you dont use the right grit it can cause the problems that you were describing. Was there a lot of debris in the pool when you were vacuuming?
  11. And jet pumps last longer with a circ pump.
  12. What size sand did you put back in the filter when you changed it?
  13. We dont do electrical either. We give the customer all of the electrical info and the breaker box and instruct them that if the wiring is there at the time of delivery we can connect the wiring to the spa. We just cant pull any wire. If the customer doesnt have the wiring done at the time of delivery we have them call us when the wiring is done and we go back and do a complete startup. You can add chemicals to the spa without the spa circulating if you have to. Its just a better idea to stir the water up good to distribute the chemicals better.
  14. I agree you got a good price. We sell that model for $500.00 more and our price doesnt include the cover lift.
  15. You can have Sunstar make a cover for any brand of spa but they are not the supplier to Hotsprings of any of their covers. Hotsprings makes their own covers.
  16. There arent to many 10' square spas out there. I see plenty of large inground spas and I'll say it again the care that I would recommend for them would be different. In fact I wouldnt even bother having a cover made for anything over 9' because I know from experience it wont get used after the customer handles it a few times. And I have never seen a 10' self contained spa.
  17. That is standard practice for our deliveries. We always fill the spa and do a complete startup with our customers. I think that makes a huge difference when it comes to a customers buying experience and it makes becoming a new spa owner much easier. Could we get some feedback from some of the spa customers on this topic. I've really never asked how important that was it has just always been our standard practice and we usually spend at least 2 hours with them at startup.
  18. No its not dead yet but give it time that horse will die.
  19. You missed my point. If you take care of a self contained spa properly it will be covered when you are not using it. The spa being covered makes a huge difference in water care.
  20. First off dont panic. The nature 2 cartridge should go down a standtube that your filter goes around but Im not familiar with the bag your describing. Dont worry about the shock (renew) for now. First you need to get some chlorine in there so that when the spa heats up its ready for you to use. Iwould add two tablespoons of chlorine and if you cant figure out where the cartridge goes dont worry about adding that right now. You can use the spa without it. It will just help reduce the amount of chlorine you use. The main thing is you want a good sanitizer base so you can use it when it gets hot. When you use it add a little chlorine for each person that had been in the spa to help maintainn the sanitizer base. Dont worry its a piece of cake.
  21. No I go off of facts to come to a conclusion. If you want to ignore the FACTS that I pointed out to you thats ok too.
