  1. Hey all... Been busy refurbing my 12 year old Sundance Altamar & want to refinish the cabinet. The finish is at the point where another winter will really take its toll on the wood. Has anyone refinished their cabinet, or can offer suggestions as to what type of stain/ paint/ sealer to use? I was thinking about an oil based paint. Thoughts?
  2. I plan to use mine all winter as well... but are there any concerns with water in the drain plumbing freezing? (I assume it's not circulated with the rest of the water?)
  3. edit: 10/11/12 edit: 10/10/12 Found what was running all the time - not the jets, but the air pump. Turned power off at the circuit breaker, and unplugged wire at circuit board connection. Powered back on, and viola! Nice and quiet... circ pump working, pump #1 working, ozonator working, heater working. Even though I didn't get any replies to this post, I was able to ultimately find the info I needed on this board. Thank you! Hello, all... I hope someone will be able to give me some guidance on my problem. I've been all through the posts on this board and can't quite seem to find anything like what I'm experiencing. The tub is a production 04/13/2000 Sundance Altamar, Serial # OAL3800-AL385673-0400. Just bought the house, and this tub came with it. It had been drained & unused for 3 1/2 years. I was able to clean it, fill it, balance the water, and get the bromine levels all in check. The problem is mechanical or electronic in nature. First problem: When turning on power to the tub, it goes into a circulate mode (ripples across surface of the water) for about 15 minutes, then the jets come on by themselves (moderate turbulence of the water) - without an indicator that they are on on the control panel. When I push the jets button, there is obviously a "new" sound which indicates another pump kicking on, but doesn't seem to change the turbulence in the water much. When I press it a second time it does go into high speed mode, and there is greater turbulence in the water. When I press it a third time it goes back to the same rate of flow as when I first pushed the jets button - even though there is now no indicator on the control panel. edit: 10/10/12 (now it just goes straight into jets mode when powered on) - note: I don't see the shafts of the pump motors spinning, so what else could be causing these jets to operate? Air pump? Ozonator? (What does an ozonator look like anyway?) The jets cannot be shut off at all. If left to run, they will run until you shut power off at the breaker box. Second problem: Pump 2 hums, but does not appear to be pumping anything. I unscrewed the water feed and delivery couplings, and warm water came out, so I know it's not air-locked, and its getting power because I can hear it humming when I push the Pump 2 button. edit: 10/10/12 (possible start capacitor, run capacitor, blockage, seizing?) - what's the liklihood of each? Third problem: When high speed on Pump 1 is activated, water leaks out of a plastic manifold/ housing attached to the right of the circuitry box (the inside of the circutry box is dry though). edit: 10/10/12 (ok... figured out this is the heater box - should just be a gasket). The weather is getting colder now, and I plan to keep the tub open all winter, but can't keep it on as the jets never turn off. trying to maintain the temp has been difficult, as i for now have to turn it on when I get home from work, bring it up to temp, then turn it completely off when I go to bed - so it's not running all night). Help! *** What IS supposed to run constantly anyways? (besides the circ pump)?
